Dingdong's not over Karylle

DESPITE the request of Dingdong Dantes for the press to stop writing about his breakup with Karylle, stories about them continue to circulate. He might have been the one who broke up with her but it’s said it’s Dingdong who now tries his best to maintain communication with his ex when Karylle now professes that she no longer loves him. It’s said he continues to text her or call her up on her cell. He reportedly told her he’s offering the success of "One True Love" to her before the flick’s premiere night and all Karylle said was a simple "Good luck."

When Karylle made her farewell performance in "SOP" last Sunday, Dingdong allegedly texted her several time and when she didn’t respond, he even called her up but she decided not to respond to him anymore. Because of this, Dingdong is said to have gotten drunk but Karylle was firm in her decision to put closure on their relationship. How true?

Is it true Katrina Halili snubbed Joross Gamboa when he performed in her recent concert at Metro Bar and she gave more importance to Mark Herras? She’s said to be sore at Gamboa because he suddenly stopped wooing her. It’s good she met Kris Lawrence in the States and he’s now more devoted to her.

"Ay, that’s not true,," says Katrina at the presscon of OctoArts Films’ Metro Filmfest entry, "One Night Only." "How can I snub him when he’s my guest? Totoong maikli lang ang intro ko sa kanya kasi he’s going to sing naman and talk to the audience himself. As for Mark, I was told na habaan ko kasi he’s going to dance. Kinausap ko rin si Mark kasi he’ll promote raw his movie, ‘Sapi.’ Nagbabatian kami ni Joross. But it’s true he has stopped texting me kasi I went to the States to do shows at nawala ako for three weeks. When I got back, hindi na niya kinontak ako uli, but it was during that trip that I met Kris."

But how come Kris denied in their Zirkoh concert that she’s his girlfriend?

"Okay lang naman po ‘yun kasi as of now, MU pa lang kami or mutual understanding. Wala pang formal commitment, nagkakaintindihan lang, but he does inspire me."

Isn’t it hard maintaining a long-distance relationship with him?

"He just left today but babalik din siya agad in one week. Pabalik-balik naman siya rito. Then after Christmas day, opening day ng ‘One Night Only,’ I’ll be the one to visit them in the States. But I’m not going to stay with them but with another family who invited me."

In "One Night Only," she plays Jasmine, a gold digger who’s all set to go with her new Chinese sugar daddy when her congressman-benefactor, Ricky Davao, takes her to a motel to bed her. Can she identify with her role? "No, why should I? Hindi pa naman ako nagkaka-sugar daddy. I’m earning on my own so I don’t need one."

What can she say that she’s now the hottest star among her batchmates in "Starstruck 1," especially after Jennylyn Mercado became an unwed mom?

"Ay, hindi ko po iniisip ‘yun. I think makakabalik pa si Jen nang bonggang-bongga dahil kasama nga siya sa ‘One Night Only.’ It’s also not true na ako ang bida sa movie dahil pantay-pantay lang ang roles namin nina Jen, Diana Zubiri, Valerie Concepcion and Alessandra de Rossi."

Is he or isn’t he? We’re referring to Diether Ocampo and his reported "ober da bakod" move from ABS-CBN to GMA-7. Some say he’s moving for sure, some say he had second thoughts after the news leaked to the press and he got a counter-offer from ABS. We asked people identified with both networks how they feel about it and they have varying opinions on this matter.

"Wala siyang utang na loob sa ABS," says an obvious ABS defender. "Isa lang siya hamak na bartender nang kunin siyang artista and introduced sa Star Circle Batch 2 in 1992. Binigyan pa siya ng screen age para pabatain ang edad niya. Personal siyang tinulungan ni Deo (Endrinal) even in putting up his own businesses and neversiyang pinabayaan, lagi siyang may project. Nagseselos siya dahil mas may projects daw si Piolo (Pascual). But what can he do? Mas gusto talaga ng tao si Piolo kaya mas in demand din ito as endorser.Basta, ungrateful siya. Sumama pa siya sa pictorial ngStar Magic catalogue for 2009, ‘yun pala, lalayas siya."

"We can’t blame Diet if he wants to transfer to GMA," says someone who claims to be an unbiased observer. "It’s always believed namanthe grass is greener elsewhere than where you are now. Wala raw kasi siyang bagong show after ‘Iisa Pa Lamang.’ Siguro, nainggit din siya kinaMarvin Agustin, Alfred Vargas, Dennis Trillo at Paolo Contis na alagang-alaga ng GMA ngayon. Pero hindi lahat ng lumilipat sa GMA, nagpo-prosper ang career. Best example si Patrick Garcia na mas inuna ang pagiging unwed father."

"Maraming GMA stars ang sumama ang loob when they heard guaranteed 4-year contract ang ibinigay kay Diether," says someone who cares for other GMA stars. Diet was paired with Wendy Valdez in ‘Margarita’ pero hindi nag-rate. Kaya it really makes you wonder why GMA will get someone whose career is down. Akala ba nila, lahat ng nalalaos sa ABS mare-revive nila? Iba ang kaso ni Heart Evangelista. Pinareha muna nila kay Richard Gutierrez para bumango uli ang career kaya when she went on her own in ‘Luna Mystika,’ hayan, toprater na. But si Diet, puede ba nila itong ipareha kay Richard? Ha-ha-ha!" says our source, who has a signature laughter.

Diana Zubiri has two entries in the coming Metro Filmfest. She plays Vivian, the free-spirited friend of Katrina Halili, in "One Night Only." She has the hots for Jon Avila and wants to bed him when they meet in a motel, but Jon is already with Valerie Concepcion that night so this becomes a problem for Diana. In "Shake, Rattle & Roll 10," she is in the "Engkanto" episode with Marian Rivera, who also has two entries in the filmfest: "Desperadas 2" and "Shake 10."

"First time ko magkaroon ng entry sa filmfest, tapos nagkasabay pa," says Diana. "Sa parade of stars, I’ll just ride on one float one half of the trip then lilipat ako sa kabila sa in the middle of the parade. Star-studded ang cast ng both movies ko and I’m glad I got to work well with every cast member na nakasama ko."

Wasn’t there any rivalry or competition with her and other stars at all like?

"Kung meron man, hindi maiiwasan ‘yun but we didn’t allow it to become a real problem for us. Basta ako, hindi ako patatalbog kahit kanino. Kung paseksihan ang labanan, handa akong makipag-compete kahit kanino. Pero wala naman kaming naging ganyang problema. We all had a good relationship on the set."

How about in the billing? Was there no problem also?

"Sa akin, wala. Kasi kahit nasa una man o gitna ang name ko, no problem for me. Ang mas mahalaga, maganda ‘yung roleko at hindi ako natabunan ng kahit sino."

Someone just won the P1 million prize in "Kapamilya Deal or No Deal" third season. He’s Anthony Solis, not the writer but a 42-year old president of his own company, Health Station, selling reflexology products. So why did he join?

"My family and I are regular fans of the show," he says. "But mainly, I want to see Kris Aquino in person. It’s not just about the money, it’s also about the experience. Truth to tell, the moment I saw Kris I already felt I’m a winner."

The successful businessman played a tough game with the Banker as he went all the way down to his personally chosen briefcase, which contains P1 million, and another briefcase containing P100,000.

"I told myself that I am going to finish the game because that’s the essence of the show. I also believed in the law of attraction and remained positive to draw luck," he explained.

Anthony plans to share part of his money with Hospicio de San Jose and to build his 75-year-old mom her own house. "That was her dream for so long now but she can’t do it from way back because she always prioritizes me and my siblings’ needs. It’s just time to pay her back for all her sacrifices," he explained.

Next week, the celebrity guests will be led by Aiko Melendez and Candy Pangilinan (they also won P1 million in the taping, so we heard), plus former Miss International Lara Quigaman.
