Echo and Heart dating again

MOTHER Lily Monteverde wasn’t so active in the first half of 2009 but they’re releasing several new films for the year’s second half, led by "Oh My Girl (OMG)" starring Judy Ann Santos and Ogie Alcasid on July 29, to be followed by the Marian Rivera horror flick, "Tarot," and the Aljur-Kris launching movie.

She says "Oh My Girl" is a dream project for her. "When they showed me the script, I didn’t have any second thoughts na gawin ito, kasi bilib ako kay Ogie as a comedian and pairing him with Juday who’s also a great actress na magaling in both comedy and drama, talagangjackpot ito sa takilya. When we watched the rushes of OMG, ang galing talaga ng team up nila. The movie is about true friendship through the years at maraming touching na eksena. I’m sure viewers will love it."

She’s now also preparing her three entries in the December Metro Filmfest. First is "Mano Po 6," directed by Joel Lamangan and topbilled by Sharon Cuneta. Since a lot of female young stars are not available to play her daughter, Mother Lily is thinking of getting Carla Abellana, which would be nice since Carla is the daughter of Rey Abellana, Sharon’s leading man in "Bukas Luluhod ang mga Tala" that defeated Mother Lily’s "Sister Stella L" when they opened simultaneously in 1984.

Next is "Nieves, The Engcanto Slayer," a spin off of a hit episode in last year’s "Shake Rattle & Roll X." Now a full-length film, it will still be directed by Mike Tuviera, with Jake Cuenca as leading man. Last is "Shake Rattle & Roll X1." Its three episodes will be directed by Jun Lana (who’s also doing "Tarot"), and two new directors, Rico Gutierrez from TV and someone named simply A.F. from TV commercials. So far, only Ruffa Gutierrez, Mark Anthony Fernandez, Rayver Cruz and Maja Salvador are in the cast. "We want to get a mixture of Kapuso and Kapamilya talents," says Mother Lily.

While we were in Bohol with Mother Lily, we realized that she herself has become quite a celebrity. Even at the airport in Manila, fans milled around her asking that their photo be taken with her. All the more so in Bohol. She was mobbed everywhere we went, especially at Baclayon Church where so many people took the chance of having a photo op with her. Way to go, Mother!

GMA executive Wilma Galvante says they’re very happy with the ratings of Carla Abellana’s "Rosalinda" as it got an average rating of 28.7% in its first week of telecast and even the replay of the first week episodes on Sunday rated 20.3%, which is quite high in the late Sunday slot. "We’re confident the ratings will go even higher in the days to come habang paganda nang paganda at nagiging more exciting ang love story nina Rosalinda at Fernando Jose. Many viewers find Carla’s beauty very refreshing and, as an actress, she’s quite good considering this is her first acting job. She has perfect chemistry with Geoff Eigenmann at maraming kinikilig sa tambalan nila."

Carla has really become quite in demand as Mother Lily wants her to shoot her launching movie soon, "Ang Nanay Kong Aswang," to be directed by Joel Lamangan. We heard they’re trying to borrow Pokwang for ABS-CBN for the nanay role but ABS said Pokwang will be very busy with them, so they’re now looking for a replacement for her. Carla will also definitely have an entry in the December filmfest. Either she’ll support Marian Rivera in "Nieves" or she’ll be tapped to play Sharon Cuneta’s daughter in "Mano Po 6."

This week, Fedra (Katrina Halili), Rosalinda’s scheming sister, will do everything to stop her love affair with Fernando Jose, whose mom, Valeria (Sheryl Cruz), is also doing her best to convince him that the lowly flower vendor is not fit for someone very rich like him. Rosalinda will learn that Fernando Jose was killed by someone named Soledad Romero. She doesn’t know that Soledad (Glydel Mercado) is really her biological mom who gave birth to her in prison. Fernando Jose’s dad was murdered a day before his birthday and this is the reason why he doesn’t celebrate his natal day. Rosalinda asks Fernando Jose to join her in the birthday party of Fr. Alvir (Cloyd Robinson). She sings in the party and Fernando Jose is enthralled by her beautiful voice as he accompanies her on the piano. Fedra declares her love for Fernando Jose and is terribly jealous of Rosalinda so she runs away from home, saying she’ll return only if Rosalinda would avoid the man they both love. Rosalinda tries to do this but Fernando Jose continues to pursue her and they go steady. Valeria learns about this and berates Rosalinda. Fernando Jose gives Rosalinda some expensive jewelry and goes to her home. This scares Rosalinda as her parents (Gary Estrada and Jennifer Sevilla) don’t know yet that he is already her boyfriend.

Director Maryo de los Reyes says he’s really excited with the Aljur Abrenica-Kris Bernal love team.

"When I was directing them in ‘Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin?’ I quickly saw their potential as a very strong love team," he says. "They remind me of Maricel Soriano and William Martinez in their younger days who have very strong rapport, unlike other love teams na maraming kiyeme at problema. Sila, they’re very open to suggestions. They know they have good chemistry as a love team at timpladong-timplado sila so they deliver what’s expected of them. If the fans liked them in their soap, all the more that they will fall in love with the Al-Kris love team in their launching movie, ‘I’ll Be Waiting for You.’"

As for Kris Bernal, she was so nervous when Direk Maryo asked her to put on a two-piece bikini. "Nako-conscious akoas I don’t really wear bikinis. Days before the shooting, I ate fruits only to make sure I have no bilbil. Kasi si Aljur, ang ganda ng katawan. Hunk na hunk. Nakakahiya naman kung mukha akong losyang. As it is, nahihiya na nga ako kasi wala naman akong malaking boobs."

But we heard she has many suitors?

"Oo nga. I don’t know why. May non-showbiz,may artista."

Like Marco Alcaraz and Aldred Gatchalian?

"Si Marco, yes, nanligaw ‘yun, but I told him career ang priority ko. Si Aldred is just a friend. We text each other every now and then, ganun lang."

Richard Gutierrez opened up when he guested in "Showbiz Central" and revealed how hurt he felt about the dismissal of his libel case against PEP. He has since filed a petition for the review of the case. It’s his brother Raymond, host of the show, who first talked about their family’s disappointment.

"We trusted this country’s legal system enough for the DOJ to review it thoroughly," he said. "If they did, it wouldn’t have been dismissed this early. Meron pa silang insulto sa kapatid ko in their statement saying my brother should not be onion-skinned. How dare anyone who’s not in this industry make a comment like that? They’ve never been in our shoes and they don’t know what it’s like to be a celebrity. Laitin nyo na ang pananamit, hitsura at trabaho ko as a host, but don’t imply that I did something violent. This is what they did to my brother and he trusted the legal system pero wala silang nagawa. We ask the DOJ to review the case."

As for Richard, in his interview with Pia Guanio, he said:"Marami na akong pinalampas na tsismis, pero ngayon, ipaglalaban ko kung ano ang tama. I believe we have a very strong case kaya sana mabigyan ng hustisya. It’s ridiculously funny for me. They said walang malisya ‘yung isinulat sa akin at hind libelous. Kung inaral po nang husto ngDepartment of Justice ‘yung kaso, nakasulat po doon sa kaso na nilabas po ng PEP ang article na ‘yun 4 p.m., around that time. Pero tumawag sila kay Leo Martinez ng umagang ‘yon, tinatanong si Leo Martinez kung may nangyari ba at sinabi niyang walang nangyari. Bakit nilabas pa rin nila ang article and without consulting us, without asking our side? Pangalawa, Ms. Jo-Ann Maglipon said wala siyang kinalaman at hindi niya alam na na-upload na pala ang article na ‘yun. Well, Ms. Jo-Ann Maglipon, kung hindi mo alam na may nagsusulat na sa website mo at nag-iimbento na ng mga articles, I think you’re doing a very ridiculous job of being an editor-in-chief in PEP. Pangatlo, gusto ko sabihin na sinasabi nila bilang artista, hindi ka dapat masyadong sensitive. You do your job, and I’ll do mine. Hindi n’yo alam, matagal na ako sa industriyang ito at matagal na rin ang buong pamilya ko sa industriyang ito. Alam po namin kung ano ang difference ng public scrutiny at ng malicious intentions in making up such stories."

Richard believes PEP crossed the line and damaged his reputation. "Gagawin ko ang tama at ipaglalaban ko kung ano ang tama. Saan man ito makarating, ibibigay ko ito sa courts of all courts, to the most high. At least, masasabi ko, ipinaglaban ko kung ano ang tama at ipinaglaban kong sarili ko. Ang legal system natin sa Philippines, sana aralin nang husto ang kaso kasi parang hindi naaral nang husto. Wala ngang ni isang court hearing. Sana maaral lang nang husto para sa akin. Kasi I believe that we have a very strong case. Mayroon kamingwitnesses at evidence. Ang PEP, wala."

When his mom, Annabelle Rama, was grilled in "Intriga Crossfire," she reiterated the points earlier made by Richard, saying she’ll support her son all the way. "Hindi kami susuko," she stressed.

Is it true that Heart Evangelista is now chummier with ex-boyfriend Jericho Rosales and they’re even dating each other again?

It’s said that they see each other at their Christian church quite often and this led to their having dinner later and seeing a movie together. Jericho said their past relationship didn’t really have a formal closure and now that they’re talking again, they’re on their way to peace and full healing.

Wonder how this will affect the coming reunion of Jericho with former sweetheart Kristine Hermosa in the new ABS-CBN soap "Dahil May Isang Ikaw." "It won’t affect the show in any way," says one writer. "Common knowledge din namang may Oyo Sotto na si Kristine in real lifekaya hindi na puedeng gamitin ‘yung love is lovelier the second time around sa kanila ni Echo to help promote their new TV show."

We thought LJ LJ Reyes was deadset on getting a college degree but she says she has stopped going to school for a while because her schedule has become so busy. "Babalik pa naman ako sa pag-aaral ko ng economics and finance sa La Salle," she says. "Kaya lang, maganda ang role ko sa ‘All My Life’ kaya tinanggap ko muna ito. I have to sacrifice my studies for a while for this primetime show."

LJ plays Aljur Abrenica’s best friend in "All My Life," Maricar. She loves him dearly and believes they’d end up in each other’s arms, but along comes Kris Bernal as Romina and ruins her plans for Aljur who plays Jules. What does she think of the Aljur-Kris love team?

"Bagay sila. And I can see marami talaga silangfans. May mga nagseselos na nga sa’kin so I assure them wala akong balak sirain ang Al-Kris love team at younger brother lang ang tingin ko kay Aljur. Wala nga akong time for studies ngayon, sa love affairs pa?"

This week, LJ tries to ruin the relationship of Jules and Romina by sending Romina a destructive text message. She feels neglected because Jules spends more time with Romina and no longer with their band. Meantime, Romina’s dad (Zoren Legaspi) is being seduced by the nurse Dessa (Jenny Miller) who takes care of her invalid mom (Gelli de Belen), while Jules’ parents, Marita (Lani Mercado) and Gary (Jay Manalo) fight over financial problems. Several barangay tanod come to their home to arrest Marita on estafa charges of a jeweller. Gary defends Marita from them. They eventually reconcile and Gary looks for a job to help solve their money problems.

Romina’s aunt, Sally (Manilyn Reynes), learns that the real father of Romina is out of jail and she talks to Romano (Zoren) about her fear that Romina might soon find out she’s adopted and look for her real parents.

Jules and Romina finally patch things up between them and become good friends again. They meet at a resort of their childhood rival, Perry (Paolo Avelino), who has now become an underwear model and has a crush on Romina.
