HAY, naku, Ian F. , sayang at 'di ka umapir sa surprise salu-salo which our small group (of about 15) tendered for Mother Lily Monteverde on the occasion of her 70th birthday last Wednesday.

You would have felt touched and gratified sa kanyang reaction. After all, we know na pinanindigan niya ang desisyon not to hold a party this year.

The plan to hold the salu-salo happened overnight as we talked about it (albeit in whispers) Monday evening lang, sa gathering na in-organize ni Manay Ichu Maceda for August-born celebrators like Ethel Ramos, Nora Calderon, Direk Boots Plata and Mother Lily sa garden ng mga Vera Perez.

In fact, Virgie Ramos, who is close to Mother Lily, learned about it Tuesday evening. When June Rufino mentioned the plan to Virgie, the latter did not only agree to join the group, she even asked what she can do to help brighten the occasion even more.
