| For Alessandra, family comes firstAuthor: Joseph Peter Gonzales At the recent press conference of One Night Only, one of OctoArts official entries to the forthcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (the other one is the TVJ starrer Iskul Bukol: 20 Years After, which it co-produces with M-Zet and ATP Entertainment) this December, a very jolly Alessandra de Rossi faced movie scribes. The dusky actress admitted that shes happy to get her role back in the movie. Thats true! Originally, the role of Angela is mine. But another name cropped up along the way. Its good that Boss Orly [Ilacad] gave me the role eventually. Im thankful that it landed on my lap, says Alex. In the movie directed by Jose Javier Reyes, she shares the spotlight with Katrina Halili, Jennylyn Mercado, Valerie Concepcion and Diana Zubiri. In a big cast like this, a big concern is whether all will be equal in length of exposure. Oh! I have no problem with that. I just do my best. Its not about how long the role is. I would that viewers remember my acting even if it is only a brief one, right? Thats more important. Like my character Angela. Shes a naïve provincial gal who is a bit player in movies. You should watch out for the scenes I have with Paolo [Contis] inside the motel room because they were really funny. We were assigned the most comedic moments and we enjoyed it a lot. Just see it for yourselves. Apart from this film, Alessandra did a part in I Love Betty La Fea on ABS-CBN 2. Soon, she will also be seen in Dragona and Tayong Dalawa. She did a recent stint in Maalaala Mo Kaya, too. Where does she get all the energy? Im working for my family, eh! she proudly muses. I send money to Italy regularly. My dad is already retired. I have two younger sisters going to school, Margarita (18) is going to college, while Isabel (16) is still in high school. Thats the reason I went to ABS-CBN because I cant be idle. I am very happy that the network is giving me a lot of work. But Im not really exclusive with the network you know me, I am like strike anywhere! They say she is going away during the holidays. Yes! I will be spending it in Italy. Assunta, my sister, is paying for my tickets. I told her to tuck in some shopping money, noh! Ha-ha-ha! Now, she and her husband Jules (Ledesma) are planning to go as well? happily ends Alex. Diether in the dark As of press time, Diether Ocampo hasnt issued a formal announcement yet about the talks that he has moved to GMA-7. Earlier last week, it was reported that he had inked a four-year contract with the Kapuso network and that he is joining the cast of a local remake the Koreanovela All About Eve opposite Iza Calzado, Sunshine Dizon and Richard Gomez. The news surprised us knowing that Diet is a true-blue Kapamilya, after all he built a career in the network. For the record, hes been with Star Magic for the last 13 years. We are still looking for a logical explanation to why he should move out of ABS-CBN. Diether, when asked on the phone by SMS whether or not his decision was true merely answered with: Merry Christmas. Interestingly, there is no official word from either network, although Star Magic publicity manager Rikka Dylim simply said that Diet is still with them and they trust that he would make the right decision. Meanwhile, GMAs Wilma Galvante, when asked the same question just said. Let Diether make his announcement. Packing it in Its good news that as of this writing, GMA Films and Regal Entertainments One True Love continues to draw huge crowd in theaters. This means that the love team of Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes has passed the acid test. Based on its successful premiere night, it was already expected that the movie will rake in money in its commercial run. Mac Alejandre was able to tap the acting skills of the two protagonists as they breathe life to the characters. Not to be left behind is Iza Calzado who renders a stirring performance as the third part of the love triangle. All three were given their respective arias and pulled them off quite well (Marian, in that scene where Dingdong left him, Iza in her parting scene with Dingdong in a restaurant, and Dingdong in the hospital scene where he discovers there are things he cant remember). Hours before the films premiere, Dingdong admitted, Performance-wise, my role in One True Love is the hardest so far. The character of Migs is complex because he has isolated amnesia. I had to exhibit a whole gamut of emotions to paint an accurate portrayal. I feel that I did justice to the role. This early, some say that his acting in the film will be cited. Im not really expecting for a nomination or whatsoever. Whats important is the public enjoyed watching Marian and I in our first movie project. I also want to share the beautiful story of the film, how the heart can feel what the eyes cant see! Source: Manila Standard Today |
