| Frustrated Dominic, satisfied Kris, pretty HelgaColumn: HighSpeed FRUSTRATED DOMINIC Dominic Ochoa doesnt say it, but he appears frustrated by the status of his career at ABS-CBN and showbiz in general. Dom has no regular show in his home studio and makes do with guest roles every now and then and perso-nal appearances in the pro-vinces and abroad. Still, Dom says hes lucky as he has his business to attend to, the ice cream company Thumbs Up and the upcoming I-Pop (as in popsicle). Hes also into mountain biking (mostly in Sta. Rosa, Laguna) with friends, among them Gary Valenciano. And Dom doesnt have to worry about household expen-ses as at 31 (last Aug. 4) he still lives with his parents in Para-aque. "Bakit ako magko-condo eh wala akong gastos sa bahay namin?" the ever joking actor laughs. Well, when the entertainment scene improves, perhaps Dom will get better, bigger roles on TV and the big screen. In the meantime, he can always look back to more glorious years, when he co-starred with Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin in the soap comedy "Luv Ko si Babes," playing a closet queen and nearly runing away with the show or when he played suppor-ting roles in the blockbuster romance comedy "Got to Be-lieve," topbilled by Claudine Bar-retto and Rico Yan and directed by Olive Lamasan and the classic family drama (an artistic and commercial hit) "Tanging Ya-man," directed by Laurice Guillen and topbilled by the timeless movie queen Gloria Romero. Where lovelife is concerned, Doms going steady with a non-showbiz girl. He and ex-sweet-heart Janna Victoria are friends. They recently teamed up in "Extra Challenge"a toprating GMA program. SATISFIED KRIS Like Dominic Ochoa, Kristopher Peral-ta doesnt have too many projects for his home studio, ABS-CBN. But then hes generally satisfied with his career as he gets good assignments every so often, the last being the movie "Now That I Have you," produced by ABS-CBNs sister company, Star Cine-ma, a John Lloyd Cruz-Bea Alon-zo starrer. Kris is excited about his role in the most anticipated soap "Vietnam Rose," directed by Joel Lamangan with Maricel Sorianoin the title role. Also like Dom, Kris is into sports, motocross, competing in various events and winning top prizes. Kris turned 25 last Aug. 19. He said his elder brother Ken-neth, who used to be in showbiz, is now with SBMA, while another brother, Keith, is a San Juan coun-cilor, following in the footsteps of his father. PRETTY HELGA One of the newest and prettiest faces on the ABS-CBN compound is Fil-German mestiza Helga Krapft, who turned 17 last Aug. 24. Frau-lein Helga was born and grew up in a town near Frankfurt, Germa-ny, but the family relocated to the Philippines (Bulacan) seven years ago. His German dad loves the climate and people here. Helga, billed as one of Star Magics Fresh Girls, is 2ndyear broadcasting major at Lyceum and belongs to the campus theater company. She likes Jean Garcia and would love to play contravida roles like her idol. Source: Tempo |
