Gabby not the cause of Pops, Jom LQ

Author: Mamer Bañez

Pops Fernandez admits now that she and Jomari Yllana had a misunderstanding. “I think that’s how the rumor that we broke up started,” she says at the “Divas 4 Divas” presscon. “It’s the first time such thing happened since we became on kasi hindi kami talaga nagkakaroon ng away. But don’t ask me na lang what started it. Secret na lang namin ‘yun, puwede? It wasn’t really that bad naman, kaya lang very first ngang nagkaroon ng di pagkakaintindihan kaya siguro some people thought it’s that serious. That happened on Sept. 15, o see, tandang-tanda ko pa ang date, and after a few days, we communicated and nagkaayos din kami agad. But when we kissed and made up, I realized, exciting pala. So ngayong alam ko na, I’ll just keep doing making tampo all the time,” she laughs.

Were they really on the verge of calling it quits for good? Who gave in first? “Let’s just say that I realized I didn’t give him the chance to explain himself well. Noong mag-usap naman kami, we were both calm. No one raised his or her voice. Malumanay lang kasi we have cooled off at hindi na kasing affected like before. We just became more honest with each other at naayos naman ang problema and we started dating again after that. ”

Is it true Gabby Concepcion is the cause of their fight? “Naku, hindi. Huwag na isali si Gabby rito, please. Kawawa naman ‘yung tao. Actually, ako’ng unang nang-away at hindi si Jom. Kaya wala talagang kinalaman si Gabby rito. ”

She admits Jom is easy to get along with. “Generally, masaya naman kami at magaan ang samahan namin. But that’s not enough reason para pakasal na kami, ‘no? We’re just enjoying each other’s company right now and we know how to give and take. Bigayan lang. Kung saan ito hahantong later, only time will tell. ”

TONI ADMITS ATTRACTION TO VHONG

Vhong Navarro and Toni Gonzaga’s first teamup, “D’Anothers”, was a big hit. How come it took three years before they’re paired again in “My Only U”? “Una, nalinya kasi si Toni kay Sam Milby,” says Vhong. “Tapos, hindi rin magtugma ang schedules namin kasi lagi siyang nagho-host ng PBB. Now, bumalik din siya sa akin. ”

“Si Vhong talaga ang first guy na naka-close ko sa showbiz,” says Toni. “Nang magkasama kami sa ‘Wazzup Wazzup’. ”

How come they never became on? “Si Vhong kasi, hindi marunong manligaw. ”

“Masyado pa kasing bagets si Toni nang una kaming magkasama at lagi niyang ka-tabi ang parents niya, left and right. Crush ko talaga siya pero mahirap din yung katrabaho mo, tapos on kayo, nagka-kaproblema lang sa set. ”

If she’s not committed to Director Paul Soriano, would Toni fall for Vhong? “Oo. Vhong is lovable at kahit sinong babae mai-in love sa kanya. Iba kasi ang sense of humor niya. Alam niya kilitiin ang puso mo. Sweet din siya. Sa set, he gave me a big bed I can use sa tapings at nagpapabili siya lagi ng food. ”

Is there pressure on their part since their film is Star Cinema’s next release after the John Lloyd-Sarah monster hit, “A Very Special Love,” also directed by Cathy Molina? “May pressure talaga kasi sobrang blockbuster ang su-sundan namin,” says Vhong. “We can’t promise na lalampasan namin ‘yun. Basta we just gave our best and we hope to entertain the audience. ”

What makes their tandem click? “May built in rapport kasi sila,” says Direk Cathy. “Pareho silang makulit in real life, nakakaaliw, may konting kilig na e-enhance na lang sa screen. That’s what I intend to capture on film in ‘My Only U’ where Vhong plays Toni’s landlord na na-in love sa kanya kahit may curse ang buhay ni Toni na mamamatay siya when she’s 25 years old. ”

NIKKI ENJOYS TWO NETWORKS

Nikki Gil has been doing only hosting jobs with ABS so she’s glad that TV-5 got her to play the lead role in “The Break Up Diaries,” the third chick lit novel featured in “Love Books Presents,” shown Tuesdays on 7 p. m.

“I play a good role as Monica, the perfect girlfriend totally devoted to my boyfriend, Benj Besa, a top cager-heartthrob,” she says. “Sa kanya umiikot ang mundo ko, but I don’t want to go to bed with him kasi I’m a good Catholic. After college, I thought he’d propose na to me, but ‘yun pala, makikipag-break lang sa’kin at I’m completely devastated. I go through various emotions, from shock and anger to hurt and pain. I can’t take it kaya naging stalker niya ako, it’s good my friend Giselle, played by Riza Santos, stopped me and takes me to a go-see at a fashion magazine. There, I meet the cute photogarapher, Treck, played by Jake Cuenca and I also get hired as intern with the tough chief editor, Ana Roces, as my boss who makes life difficult for me. I get attracted to Treck even if he’s too mayabang for me. Tapos, ang nangyari, nakuha ako as a model, without me knowing that it’s Treck who recommended me. Diyan iikot ang story namin. ”

“The Break Up Diaries” follows “Have Baby Will Date” with Valerie Concepcion and “No Boyfriend Since Birth” with Alex de Rossi. Nikki is glad she’s featured in the show’s third romantic presentation written by Maya Calica. Those who missed the pilot episode can still see it on its Catch-up telecast this Sunday at 12 noon.

CESAR, SUNSHINE BACK FROM SECOND HONEYMOON

Cesar Montano is back from a vacation (or is it a second honeymoon) in the States with his wife Sunshine Cruz. They are now blissfully reunited in their new house in Tivoli Gardens in Commonwealth Ave. Their friends are all happy that all is well between them now. Because Cesar’s last show, “The Singing Bee”, proved to be such a toprater, ABS-CBN is bringing it back starting tonight. Instead of it being a daily weekday show, it will now be shown on Saturday and Sunday, with the running time extended to one hour and not just 30 minutes. There will be many innovations in the show to make it even more lively and interesting so don’t fail to watch it tonight after “Komiks Presents Tiny Tony. ”

Since this is an interactive show, viewers can call or send email, and tex messages and video logs. Also, watch out for the featured guest who could be a celebrity, a politician, or any prominent name in society" who will sit on a comfortable couch with Mo and reply to his trademark series of revealing questions. “I don’t want to get the same cliche answers I hear on TV.
