Actor Gabby Concepcion makes a major comeback on Philippine television after 13 years. Before he left for the US in 1995, Concepcion was one of the best dramatic actors in the country, after making a successful transition from his smash hit romantic tandem with Sharon Cuneta.

On Friday night, Concepcion proves that his years away from show business have only added depth, subtlety and intensity to his acting prowess. The very special episode of "Maalaala Mo Kaya", ABS-CBN's longest-running drama anthology, is the perfect showcase for a fine actor like Concepcion.

Concepcion will portray the role of a driver who is exploited and abused by his boss (Tirso Cruz III) to the point where his wife (Ana Capri) and children are affected. Actress Rio Locsin plays the boss's wife.

Gabby's MMK episode is hosted by actress and ABS-CBN president Charo Santos-Concio. The episode is directed by critically-acclaimed Jeffrey Jeturian.

Gabby to star in "Iisa Pa Lamang" teleserye

The MMK episode is just a foretaste of what viewers can expect in the new teleserye "Iisa Pa Lamang" which will star Concepcion opposite Claudine Barretto.

For the series, Concepcion will also be working with the brightest stars of the Kapamilya network, including Diether Ocampo, Angelica Panganiban and the "Queen of Philippine Movies," Susan Roces.

Concepcion said he is very pleased with his new project and likes the storyline very much.

The series is an original story and not a remake of the 1992 movie starring Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta.

In preparation for the series, Concepcion will be attending acting workshops and will spend his Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays taping the series.

Lawsuits

Concepcion was in the news recently after being sued by columnist and radio dzMM host Jobert Sucaldito for breach of contract last Wednesday, April 30

The charge stemmed after the actor allegedly backed out of an endorsement deal that Sucaldito was brokering.

Sucaldito said Concepcion and his manager Rose Flaminiano had verbally agreed to endorse a skin-whitening product and receive P2 million as talent fee.

He said he later learned that Concepcion had already signed a deal to endorse a rival product.

Concepcion's lawyer Jose Flaminiano has however called Sucaldito's lawsuit "frivolous", saying Sucaldito has no proof that he is authorized to broker any endorsement deal for the skin-whitening product.

Flaminiano has also announced that he is filing a P10 million countersuit of libel and defamation against Sucaldito.
