| Geneva strips anew against eating fleshAuthor: Text and Photo Jan Milo R. Severo, Contributor No animal deserves to die for your taste buds When animals feel pain, they scream, too No living creature wants to see her family slaughtered They also feel fear Or simply, it isnt fair These are some of the many reasons the Philippines sexiest vegetarian, model-singer Geneva Cruz, once again bares her ravishing body to tell the world that animals, just like men, have the same body parts. In a pictorial by ace photographer Niccolo Cosme for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) ad against animal vindictiveness, Cruz wore nothing but paint markings that mimicked a butchers diagram of body parts next to the tagline "All Animals Have the Same Parts. Go Vegetarian." As an analogy, Cruz bares the fact that meats from factory-farmed animals are made of flesh, blood and bones just as human are. They have the same bodily organs, same five senses and the same range of emotions. The only difference, according to Nobel laureate Issac Bachevis Singer, is they are defenseless, and eating meat is the "most extreme" speciesism because animals are the least able to defend themselves and the easiest to victimize. Cruz, a genuine animal rights advocate, says she went vegetarian at the age of 15 after filming a shampoo commercial with animals in their natural environment. "We were in this location in Palawan where all animals were just roaming free," she said. "All I had to do was feed one of them and say, Natural! We kept doing that, take after take I couldnt take it anymore. Not after that." Now a staunch vegan, Cruz said shes not doing this for vanity, adding, "I dont do this to look sexy, although you can look sexy. The good thing about what Im doing now is I think that a lot of people are getting really influenced, and they just want to know how to start. I always tell them to go to PETA.org and check it out. You can start little by little." Like Cruz, different celebrities across the globe join PETA for the crusade against animal unkindness such as local celebrities Alicia Meyer, Yasmien Kurdi and Chin-Chin Gutierez; international artists Paul McCartney, Pamela Anderson and Alicia Silverstone, to name a few. Also, PETA gave reasons why we have to forget those fatty foods and turn our bodies into a vegetable zone. They gave celebrity-hosted documentaries and exposés on animal cruelty practices around the world, a vegetable recipe guide and a vegetarian starter kit. For more information, visit PETA.org.
