| Geoff isnt amused by Joel Cruz![]() Author: Mario E. Bautista GEOFF Eigenmann is not amused by Joel Cruz' off the cuff remarks about his mom Gina Alajar, who's Joel's rival in "Celebrity Duets 3," "being 50 years in showbiz." "Kung nagpapatawa siya, he's not funny at all," he says. "If he's trying to be funny, sana naisip niya, respeto na lang sana." But Geoff has reason to rejoice. Since "Rosalinda" is now rating very high, it's telecast is extended for two more weeks. And even before this has ended, GMA management has announced that they already have a follow-up project, but it's still under wraps. Geoff will also be busy shooting his new endorsement and doing post-production for "Ang Panday," where he's paired with Rhian Ramos. "Nakakapagod but I'm not complaining," he says. "Mas mabuti na yung busy at maraming trabaho than just being idle at home." The story of "Rosalinda" has become more involving. Fedra (Katrina Halili) kidnaps the daughter of Fernando Jose (Geoff) and Rosalinda (Carla Abellana) and threatens to kill the baby. She'd spare the baby only if Fernando Jose would return to her arms. *** "Pinoy Big Brother: Teens" discovery Nina Jose is glad to have a new TV show, "Nagsimula sa Puso," and two new movies, "I Luv DreamGuyz" and "Mano Po 6, My Mother." She plays a seductress from Italy who tries to snatch Jason Abalos away from Maja Salvador in "Nagsimula sa Puso." In "I Luv DreamGuyz," she plays an even more complex role as Jenny, a beautiful girl so in love with newcomer Jay L Dizon without knowing she is sharing him with another guy, Marco Morales. "I'm rich in the story at ako pa ang gumagastos kay Jay L, yun pala niloloko niya ko. I thought he has another woman, but it turns out he has another man. This is the first time I did a love scene. I was so nervous. But I accepted the role so kailangang pangatawanan ko na't baka makagalitan ako ni Direk Joel Lamangan. I just kept on thinking I'm playing a character at nang magsimulang gumiling ang camera, tuloy-tuloy na." What will her parents say about it? "I explained to them and they understand. I can't do teeny bopper roles na lang. I have to grow and I want to thank Direk Joel and also my manager, Manny Valera, for giving me the role as it will really help me grow as an actress. In 'Mano Po 6,' I'm Heart Evangelista's rival over Dennis Trillo. May love scene ako with Dennis so isang Kapuso actor naman ang katrabaho ko rito." "I Luv Dreamguyz" will be shown on November 4 at Robinsons Galleria and Ermita, Remar, Cinerama Isetann, Gotesco Grand Central and Ultra Vista Cebu. You can watch its trailer on youtube. *** Annabelle Rama will have a birthday party at Tangerine Greenhills tonight, but her birthday is still on October 31. She already got an advanced birthday gift from Richard, an expensive sportscar. "He used his talent fee for his Flawless endorsement to buy me a car, pero napunta naman kay Eduardo (her hubby) dahil siya ang patay na patay sa kotseng high tech." How about Ruffa's gift? "Laging bag ang binibigay sa'kin pero ang ending, siya rin ang gumagamit. Pati yung ibang bags na gift sa'kin, siya rin ang unang gumagamit. Okay lang kasi artista naman siya." How about her husband Eddie? "Gift na lang niya, huwag siyang mangaliwa lalo ngayong nagsa-suffer ang sex life namin kasi pagod na pagod ako lagi sa promo ng 'Patient X.' Hindi ako member ng cast pero ako ang nag-aasikaso ng mga mall tour at personal appearances nila kaya kasama rin ako. Pagdating ng bahay, matutulog na lang ako kaya no time for sex na. Babawi na lang ako pag blockbusterna ang 'Patient X'." *** Kaye Abad plays the most demanding role in her career as Fidela, the only daughter of Baguio's Post Master who falls in love with a Japanese captain (Hiroyuki Takashima) during World War II in "Iliw (Nostalgia)." They fall in love in Vigan and live together, censured by the people in their community especially when Kaye gives birth to their love child. As the American forces are about to attack Vigan, Takahashi is ordered by the Japanese Imperial Army toburn the whole town and he has to make a decision whether to execute the order or save Fidela and the townspeople. "It's a great role as it required me to go through an entire range of various emotions," says Kaye, who's also doing "Rubi" for ABS-CBN. "We shot on location in Vigan and dahil period movie ito, lahat ng damit at hairdo ko, puro old style rin. 'Iliw' is a story of love and sacrifice in the time of war." Supporting them are Ping Medina as Pablo, Kaye's childhood friend who's secretly in love with her; Alex Medina as Santiago, Kaye's brother who joins the guerilla movement; and Ron Morales as Romano, Santiago's friend who thinks he's a spy of the Japs, plus Gian Sotto, Charee Pineda, Irma Adlawan and Japanese actors Hiro Sakoda and Kazumi Yoshida. The 11th Cinemanila filmfest goes on until October 25 at Market! Market! Cinemas. *** A female writer says Roselle Nava is so lucky that her fiancé, Allen Tan, is not only good-looking but also looks so caring. They'll be wed on January 17, 2010 at the Manila Cathedral and the estimated budget for the big wedding is P1.5 million. "Nine years na kami," says Roselle. "The youngest of two boys, he's also my business partner in my music school, Music Corner by Roselle." Roselle is now with Viva Records and she has just released her first album with them, "Forever Love Songs." It has 12 revivals of unforgettable love tunes, including "Miss You Like Crazy," "As I Lay Me Down," "What I Did for Love," "Where Do Broken Hearts Go," "Looking Through the Eyes of Love," "Heaven Knows" and the first single, "Lost in Space." *** The remake of the original "Halloween" was a hit so it's not surprising that they've also remade the 1981 sequel, "Halloween II," once again directed by rock star-turned-director Rob Zombie. This is meant primarily for horror-slasher flick fans, especially those who like watching killer Michael Myers as he goes on rampage. One year after she fought with Michael (Tyler Mane), Laurie Strode (Scout Taylor Compton) is trying to rebuild her life but nightmares continue to haunt her. Helping her maintain her sanity are her friend Annie (Danielle Harris) and Annie's dad, Sheriff Brackett (Brad Dourif). Michael, in turn, is now guided by the ghost of his late mother Deborah (Sheri Moon, Zombie's wife) who walks with a white horse. He has no qualms about killing anyone who dares cross his path. Michael's psychiatrist, Dr. Sam Loomis (Malcolm McDowell), has written a book about Michael's earlier killing spree, "The Demon that Walks Amongst Us," and unknowingly has set a date for Laurie to face Michael once more. It is through him that we discover that she's actually Michael's long-lost sister and he has become a publicity hound who's going around on tour to promote his book. Rob Zombie didn't follow the original "Halloween II" blindly. He wants to have his own vision of mayhem and murder. He obviously feels the need to explore the motivations of Michael for being a deadly killer. We see him as a little boy who is being pushed by his mother, just like Jason in "Friday the 13th," to have a little fun. As such, Zombie's version has more blood and ultra violence. There's no doubt that he is also more adventurous in hisnarrative design and in establishing an ominous mood, but the trouble is the effect of the scenes with Deborah and young Michael is kind of ludicrous. The additional scenes of Michael going on a killing spree as he slays local folks don't really forward the plot and are apparently made just to stretch out the running time before he finds Laurie, his real target. This makes it an out and out exploitation flick that will leave you numb, using violence for the sake of gratuitous violence. In fairness to lead actress Scout Compton, her acting here has improved compared to the first one and she gets good support from veterans Brad Dourif and Malcolm McDowell. The cinematography, imagery and lighting design are also first rate. Source: Malaya |
