'Girlfriend sa dilim'

WE finally got, Ian F. , the chance na makita ng close-up and personal, wika nga, ang diumano'y girlfriend sa dilim ni Richard Gutierrez na si Jewel Mische. Ayaw kasing aminin ni Richard na 'sila' nga and vice versa.

Like Marian Rivera, we happen pala to go to the same beauty salon, Bambi's on Timog, Quezon City.

Dahil petite si Jewel, she may not command attention right away, kapag nasa crowd na siya. But once you take notice of her at mapagmasdan mo ang kanyang simple ngunit magandang mukha, 'di mo maiiwasang 'di mo siya hangaan.

Lalong hindi kami magtataka kung bakit siya nagustuhan ni Richard, who has a family na pawang magaganda at guwapo.

She did not command special attention from any among the magagaling na beauty attendants ni Bambi. It was Cris Reynes who was assigned to do her hair.

Obviously, may taping siya for the new series on GMA-7 where she is teamed up with JC de Vera.

May tsismis kung bakit diumano'y pumayag si Richard, who obviously has a say sa projects na tinatanggap ni Jewel ('di ba, she has to back out from an indie movie at the last minute, upon the advice daw of someone, na posible ngang si Richard). And JC is one of the major reasons.

JC is Annabelle Rama's talent. Kaya, ni birong ligawan nito si Jewel ay 'di puwedeng mangyari.

In any case, Jewel (who has a striking resemblance to KC Concepcion) has a strong influence daw kay Richard. Someone close to him and his family said, Richard listens to her. She is, in fact, the reason daw why religious na ngayon si Richard.

Very religious daw ang family ni Jewel.

Speaking of Richard, we are not surprised kung bakit sumabak siya sa pagpu-produce ng movie. Although, we are aware, too, that Patient X, his first production, is co-produced by him with Viva Films and GMA Films.

Well, at one time din, nag-produce din ng pelikula sina Eddie Gutierrez at Annabelle, parents ni Richard.

Well, both were at their respective prime then. And they were not husband and wife yet.

The two turned producer bilang business venture.

But not so, in the case of Richard. Sabi niya, it is his wish na makagawa ng movie, which will be at par with those napapanood niya from Hollywood. And if he has to produce it, he will do it.

Patient X, ayon kay Richard, is sure to give new meaning to Philippine horror.

"Sa kuwento pa lamang, when Direk Yam (Laranas), first presented to the project to me, I was more than convinced na to do it. And finance it.

"Well, with Viva Films and GMA Films for my co-producers 'di lang lumalaki lalo ang project, naging worldwide na ang concept," sabi ni Richard.

Direk Yam's choice to direct Patient X came on the heels of the exhibition of Echo, the Hollywood rendition of the Regal Films' thriller, Sigaw, which he both directed. Richard starred in Sigaw with Angel Locsin and Iza Calzado, who was the only star in Sigaw picked up by Hollywood to reprise her role in Echo.

Paired with Richard for the first time is Cristine Reyes, who plays Patient X.

Richard is the doctor assigned to her. He is confused, though, as he finds himself trapped in the murderous rampage of aswangs.

Patient X premieres on October 25 in SM Manila. Its regular showing in 100 theaters nationwide starts on October 28.
