BY THE WAY....

• Be scared. Be very sexily scared, so warns Padi's Point Halloween celebration on Oct. 31 dubbed as Sexy Fright Night. Characters like Frankenstein, Dracula, zombies, werewolves, and White Lady will make their way into various Padi's Point bars such as those on Morato, Alabang, Araneta Center, Caloocan, etc. Beware? No, just be happily scared.

• What shows to watch out for in the coming days from ABS-CBN? The network's production department is busy taping 'Palos,' topbilled by Cesar Montano with Jake Cuenca as his son; Annaliza, played by Maja Salvador; and 'Princess Sarah,' a remake of the former movie and TV hit.

HOW WOULD you like to be reminded about caring for the environment while Dr. Vicki Belo cares for and beautifies your body?

The Belo Medical Group has embarked on a Belo Goes Green campaign in tune with the worldwide cry for efforts to help save Planet Earth. Already in the thick of the save-earth campaign by using recycled paper and reducing the use of electricity in its offices during lunchbreaks, the Belo Group sponsored the screening last Friday of 'The Eleventh Hour,' the earth-moving documentary co-produced and narrated by Titanic star Leonardo Di Caprio at the Greenbelt Cinema in Makati.

The screening came close on the heels of Belo's showing in all its six clinics of an earlier and more controversial docu, Al Gore's 'An Inconvenient Truth.' Dr. Belo says she wants to reach out to thousands of people in spreading the gospel to protect Mother Earth from even greater damage, and also to avert and help decrease the severity of the climate change threat.

In their own way, Belo practices waste segregation, carefully observing that hazardous chemical wastes in the clinics do not pose a threat to the environment. Belo is the first medical clinic to launch an environmental crusade.

The screening of 'The Eleventh Hour' was attended by Belo doctors and other staff members. Missed at the event was former Environment Secretary Elisea Gozun, with whom Dr. Belo has teamed up for a multi-pronged environmental awareness plan to start in all Belo clinics.

Ms. Gozun, recently awarded by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) as one of the seven Champions of the Earth, along with former US Vice President Al Gore, will orient all Belo employes on pressing environmental issues and how they can help avert them.

Those who may not have a chance to watch 'The Eleventh Hour' need not fret. One of these days, the film will surely make as main attraction in the receiving areas of all Belo clinics.
