| Heart sore at Nikki?Column: Freehand IS it true Heart Evangelista is sore at Nikki Gil who replaced her as Sunsilk endorser? "I don't really know what happened to that at hindi ko na rin inalam ang back story," says Nikki at the launching of her new album, "Nikki Gil: Hear My Heart. " "Basta Unilever called me to endorse the product and I believe in it so I accepted it. Heart and I saw each other later in Boracay and okay naman kami. It was never brought up. " The last time we talked to her, she admitted being wooed by Geoff Eigenmann. Did they ever go steady? "No, let's just say we're better off as friends. Ganyan talaga ang tadhana kasi we're both busy naman. He's in 'Lobo' and I'm with Maricel Soriano in 'Florinda' where I play my most dramatic role so far as a battered child. I'm also in my last year at the Ateneo, majoring in English lit and I have to finish my thesis which is about fostering reading aware ness. Tapos, busy pa ako with my new album sa EMI, so better na ring wala munang lovelife. " Nikki continues to co-host "ASAP" and do VJ work for MYX. She also just returned from Hong Kong where she represented the country in the opening of the It's a Small World ride in Disneyland. "It's my third stint with Disney after I helped promote 'High School Musical 1 and 2' with them. VIP treatment talaga kami ng other Asian stars na kasama ko in Hong Kong. We were spoiled and I felt like a real star. Sabi ko nga, aba, I can get used to this. Ibang-iba ang treatment nila at alagang-alaga ako. I even stayed in a hotel suite. Five days ako roon attending rehearsals, presscons and the actual performance. I hope it opens doors for me to do other projects abroad. " She's very proud of her new album. She herself wrote the lyrics for the title song about unrequited love, "Hear My Heart," with her younger sister Danela doing the music. The LP has 12 cuts. Aside from "Hear My Heart," the other original song is "Friday" (also from Danela) and the rest are covers: "If You're Not The One" (Daniel Beddingfield), "So Much In Love" (Sheena Easton), "Buses and Trains" (Bachelor Girl), "Let Me Be The One" (The Carpenters), "I Just Want To Be Your Everything" (Andy Gibb), "When Did You Fall In Love With Me" (Chris Rice), "On My Knees" (Jackie Velasquez), "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight" (James Taylor) and "Million Miles" (Joey Albert). It'll be officially launched on May 24 at Trinoma Mall, 6 p. m. "Two years in the making ang album at mas hands-on in choosing the songs and in the production, pati sa photos on the jacket. I want it all to show that I grew up and am now more mature. I hope it strikes a stronger connection between me and the listeners. " THE RUMOR THAT REFUSES TO DIE POLO Ravales is amused by reports that he and Jean Garcia have broken up. "Nakakatawa talaga kasi nagkalabuan na raw kami at hiwalay na," he says. "Paano kaming magbe-break-up, e hindi naman naging kami? Did we ever admit na kami na nga?" It's said that they just won't admit it in public because Jean's daughter, Jennica, is against him and Jean doesn't want to hurt her daughter's feelings. "O, saan na naman galing 'yan? Jennica and I are okay and I don't think kung kami nga ng mommy niya, makikialam siya, kasi si Ms. Jean naman, hindi rin nakikialam sa lovelife ng anak niya. They respect each other as mother and daughter kaya huwag na sanang isama si Jennica sa ganyang mga intriga. " So will Jean be watching his concert, Rubirubiat @Boyz. com at Metro Bar, West Avenue this Friday, 9 p. m. ? "Nanood na siya noong first concert namin sa Zirkoh and Jennica was with her, pati 'yung ka-love team nitong si Mart Escudero, so I don't know if she'd watch again. But I will surely invite her. Dapat lang na manood siya kasi hindi basta replay ito. Marami kaming new and better acts dito at guests pa namin sina Rufa Mae Quinto, Jan Nieto at Hazel Ann Mendoza. " If Jean wouldn't show up at Metro Bar, then that means she's boycotting the show and they're really off by now. "Talaga? May ganun?" Polo laughs. For tickets to Rubirubi@Boyz. com, call DMV at 415-0373 to 74, Metro Bar at 412-6514, Ticketnet at 911-5555. PLINKY SPRINGS BACK PLINKY Recto was an in- demand TV host in the 90s doing shows like "Wake Up Call," "Perfect Match", "It's A Date," and others, and also doing movies like "Walang Ma-tigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis" with Bong Revilla, "Abradabra" with Dolphy, "Zacarias" with Edu Manzano and "Hanggang sa Huling Bala" with Lito Lapid. Then she suddenly disappeared. "Paano, na-in love," she says. Her marriage didn't last but it gave her one son, Armand, now 12 years old. The next thing we heard about her is that she's fighting for custody of her second son, Julian Henri, who was kidnapped from her home. How did she meet the baby's father who's now a mayor in Negros? "I got him as my lawyer for the annulment of my marriage. In one year, na-resolve niya ang case. But he didn't court me while the case was going on. It was after that he courted me at na-in love na naman ako, without knowing I'm marrying someone who batters women. "At one point, inuntog-untog ang ulo ko sa floor that's why I now have a permanent neck injury. The first time he got my son, baby pa lang at hindi niya maalagaan so ibinalik sa akin, parang package na iniwan na lang. Then, nang mag-one year old na, dumating sa bahay ko on January 4 three years ago and abducted the child by force. I filed for custody and I won sa Supreme Court. Executory na yon. Ibalik sa'kin ang baby ko dahil the law mandates that a child below 7 years old should stay with the mother. The court ordered NBI to re- turn my child to me, but they cannot implement it. The whole experience was very stressful. I felt anger, bitterness. "I got so depressed, I fear for my life kasi once, after a hearing, lahat ng tires sa car ko, flat, sinaksak, pati yung car plate. But I fought back through the courts, kaya lang, our justice system dito sa atin is so disappointing. Da-pat, I asked the help of the NPA na lang kasi Ka Roger was then asking me if I need his help. I still haven't lost hope. They say my son, now 4, is in the U. S. , but I know tinatago lang siya sa Negros. I believe in karma. Sooner or later, the universe will balance itself and karma will catch up with him and all those who are helping him keep my son away from me. " But the experience also helped make her strong. "I'm spending millions for litigation so I have to earn on my own. I put up some small businesses. I'm also a certified fitness specialist in the Pilates Method, getting my training from the US. I have my clinic-studio, The Bodyworker, at 145 Esteban Abad, Loyola Heights and I'm also a consultant to Moro Lorenzo Clinic and Amezcua Medispa. I specialize on back problems and now, also knees. An AB Masscomm (cum laude) graduate from Assumption, she now wants to come back as a TV host. "I really missed hosting and Boy Abunda encouraged me to try it again. " How's her sister-in-law, the Batangas governor? "She's doing great. She, Kuya Ralph and Ryan just came back from a vacation in the States. She told me she just finished doing a new TV commercial with Ryan, a growth vitamin daw na pampatangkad. " RACHELLE GOES ON BAR TOUR THE new album of Ra-chelle Ann Go, "Rachelle Ann Rocks Live," is one of the best albums released so far this year and we listen to it frequently. Her interpretation of classic rock songs is just so heartfelt and electrifying, like "Honestly," "The Search is Over," "Crying," "Two Steps Behind, "This Ain't a Love Song," "No Rain," Someone," "Missing You," "That's What Love is For," "When You Love Someone," "Can't Fight This Feeling," "I Just Can't Let Go" and "Can't Cry Hard Enough. " Tonight, she starts her bar tour around Metro-Manila, opening at the Hard Rock Cafe in Makati at 9:30 p. m. This is followed by Circle Cafe on Wednesday, May 21, 9 p. m. ; Eastwood Central Plaza on Saturday, May 24, 9 p. m. Bagaberde Pasig on Friday, May 30, 10 p. m. ; and Bagaberde Roxas on Friday, June 13, 10 p. m. , sponsored by Skechers Time, MYX, Sennheiser, Hard Rock, Circle Cafe. Bagaberde, Manila Bulletin, Inquirer and Sugar Sugar. "I promise to all those who'll go to my bar tour that I'll give them a rockin' good time," Rachelle adds. VIEWERS NOW INTERESTED IN NON-STARS WILL reality shows be the next big thing after teleseryes and telefantasyas? We recorded the ratings generated by ABS-CBN's primetime shows from Monday to Friday last week and there's no doubt that their highest rating programs now are "The Singing Bee" and "Pinoy Big Brother Teen Plus Edition," which are definitely less expensive to produce than their two fantaseryes, "Lobo" and "Maligno," for which they spend quite a lot on the computer effects alone. Here are the ratings: Monday (May 5): Singing Bee - 24. 7%, Lobo - 21. 8%, PBB Teens - 24. 6%, Maligno - 19. 2% Tuesday - Singing Bee - 22. 7, Lobo - 21. 6, PBB Teens - 23. 4, Maligno - 17. 0 Wednesday - Singing Bee -21. 9, Lobo - 18. 6, PBB Teens - 22. 7, Maligno - 18. 7 Thursday - Singing Bee - 23. 3, Lobo - 20. 0, PBB Teens - 21. 6, Maligno - 16. 8 Friday (May 9) - 25. 6, Lobo - 20. 4, PBB Teens - 24. 7, Maligno - 16. 8 Source: People's Journal |
