Heart- warming message from Sharon

Author: Remy Umerez
Column: A Little Bit

Sharon Cuneta has a new album with a concept completely different from her past ones. It is called Children Rhymes and Lullabies released by Sony Music Entertainment.

Let's hear it straight from Sharon who wrote in the backliner notes:

"We figured if we felt a need for something like this, then we are pretty sure there were lots of parents out there who did, too. Plus--we thought that since there are lots of parents scattered all over the world whose children haven't heard of let alone grown up with songs from their homeland- that we had to make this collection.

"I thank my hubby Kiko, the original 'Tagalog Boy' in the whole Pangilinan clan, who cooked up the idea. For helping me (nah, really more like me assisting him) instill the love of learning in our little girls (the big girl KC, too) teaching the girls to speak in straight English and in straight Tagalog, rarely ever in Taglish (guilty, mama's fault, talking like that) for being a fabulous, incomparable father to them.

"I dedicate this album to my three babies- Kristine, Simone and Mariel. Walang tututol kahit 60 years old na kayo. I live for you and you are and always will be my sunshine.

"This is for you parents, here and abroad and for all you children- we worked hard to create this album with you in mind. I will always be grateful for your gift of hope, laughter and trust. I hope this album becomes one that you will continue to reach for and play over and over again. .. for ourselves, your children, your children's children and may they play it for future generations to come. "

Children Rhymes and Lullabies is a must for overseas parents who raised their children abroad. With songs like Magtanim ay Di Biro, Bahay Kubo or Sitsiritsit Alibangbang they will be able to know and value their roots.

WHERE ARE THE BILLBOARDS?

SOME of the men's undergarments we grew up with are adopting new strategies. Walker for one has signed up Alfred Vargas and Matt Evans as their celebrity endorsers. You won't miss their posters on some SM branches.

However, we have yet to see them on giant billboards along EDSA. These two wholesome men represent two different generations. Would Walker makers be that aggressive in their renewed promotions?

SHOCKING END FOR 'AI'

THE 8th season of American Idol came to an upsetting and shocking end. One hundred million text voters came in and the majority favored the boyish acoustic rocker Kris Allen over the glam rocker Adam Lambert who, since Day One, has been the favorite of the judges.

Why did Lambert who had a wide and very powerful vocal range lose? Is his style so flashy and his high rendition too long and tedious? Were they turned off by his dark nail polish and rumors about his cross dressing?

The majority of text voters are young adolescents and in their mind, should be an idol handsome, cute, wholesome and of course, can sing.

Kris Allen is all these and he happens to be the underdog in this very popular competition.
