Heartthrob now indie movie producer

Apart from acting and singing, Piolo Pascual enjoys wearing another hat, that of being a film producer.

The award-winning actor produced Manila shown at the recently concluded Cannes Film Festival.

“It’s a big honor that Manila made it to Cannes. Everyone knows that it’s one prestigious international film festival. I’m happy to announce that we also got invited to the Moscow International Film Festival plus eight others. Manila will be doing the rounds,” he says.

His second venture as a producer is Eugene Domingo’s launching vehicle Kimi Dora (Kambal sa Kiyeme) opposite heartthrob Dingdong Dantes.

“As a producer, it’s my goal to try coming up with different genres as much as possible. I’m excited with this project. I believe in Eugene’s potential as a lead actress and I’m happy that Dong signed in. This will surely be a blast!”

Piolo now realizes that it’s not easy to mount a film.

“I’m learning a lot about the flow and I can tell it’s no joke. It helps that Joyce [Bernal, Kimi’s director] is there to guide me. She’s explaining things to me to the dot. I’m learning everything that I need to know when it comes to film production,” he states.

Many are curious if he also wants to be a director someday.

“I can’t tell as of now. Directing is a delicate task that needs full attention. I’m okay with acting and singing as of the moment. Let’s see!”

Meanwhile, people are asking the real score between him and KC Concepcion.

“Actually, I asked permission to court her and I’m still waiting for a solid reply. She told me she’d just text me. Perhaps, she’s very busy. To be honest, I don’t want to talk about this because I don’t want to be accused of using the issue for the promo slant of our forthcoming program Lovers in Paris. I hope the public will respect my appeal,” Piolo ends seriously.

Keeping a secret

It’s not true that Ogie Alcasid doesn’t have any idea about former wife Michelle van Eimeren’s forthcoming wedding with boyfriend Mark Murrow. There’s a reason why the talented singer-comedian-host opted to keep mum on the matter since the issue surfaced weeks ago.

“Actually, they really wanted it to be a secret and I gave it to them. Michelle and Mark are private people so they deserve my respect when it comes to that matter,” he confesses.

What was his reaction the first time he learned about it?

“I was in a golfing event that time. I just said, ‘Wow!’ I think it’s just beautiful. From the bottom of my heart, I feel very happy for them. My prayer and wish is for them to have a wonderful wedding and a great life together.”

Ogie shares that their two daughters are aware of the development.

“Oh yes! Leila and Sarah know about it. We don’t hide it from them!”

He admits he has a participation in the wedding although he won’t reveal what it is.

Serious about acting

Jackie Rice swears she’s serious with her career now unlike before when she was just like playing.

“It helped that GMA-7 gave me an ultimatum. Gone are my carefree days. I don’t party and drink too much now. The management explained to me that their packaging for me is wholesome and I understood. I chose my work. I’m happy that my home studio is taking good care of me again,” starts the pretty lass.

Many say she wasted time after she became StarStruck III’s Female Ultimate Survivor a few years ago.

“I know. I admit I neglected my work then. I was always late during shootings. It was wrong. But now, I promise to do my best to make up for lost grounds!”

The lovely star is in Sine Novela Presents Kung Aagawin Mo Ang Lahat Sa Akin along with Maxene Magalona, Glaiza de Castro, Patrick Garcia and JC Tiuseco.
