House, CSI and CSI: NY clock new Milestones on AXN

Author: AXN Asia

Singapore, 2 June 2009 - In the dog-eat-dog world of television, only the top dogs survive! Among the numerous series which expire prematurely or stagger through one season and are never heard of again, AXN is proud to be home to signature series House and the CSI franchise which have clocked several seasons, hundreds of episodes and are still going strong! A total of 50 million viewers have tuned in to the CSI franchise across Asia in 2008, which works out to one out of every two AXN viewers having caught the show last year. Not to be outdone is House, a hit amongst PMEB audience, which attracted a solid following of eight million PMEB viewers in 2008 alone.

This June, expect an entourage of tantalising goodies - a delectable female lead, star-studded cast and award-winning director - all in three incredible landmark episodes!

House 100th Episode on 8 June 09 - The Greater Good
Behold witty medical drama House - who would have thought that a brutally sarcastic genius doctor, bizarre diseases and baffling medical jargons could make for so much dark comedy? Averaging 13.4 million viewers in its fifth season in the US, the show has continued to garner both public and critical acclaim. Most recently, House was nominated as the top three highest rated dramas in the 4th International TV Audience Awards, which rewards shows that have garnered the highest number of viewers worldwide in 2008. Perhaps one of the reasons for the loyal support lies with the sizzling Olivia Wilde who plays Thirteen in the series, recently crowned #1 on the 2009 list of Maxim's Hot 100, surpassing the likes of Transformers hottie Megan Fox!

In the 100th episode The Greater Good, the collapse of a brilliant cancer researcher who gave up her career to pursue personal satisfaction makes the House's team stop in their tracks, to question their own happiness and life choices. More dilemmas come in the form of Thirteen's worsening side effects to the experimental Huntington's disease clinical trial, endangering not just her life but also Foreman's career prospects. House and Cuddy also get up to serious mischief with Cuddy determined to retaliate by making his life miserable - setting up a trip wire in House's office and taking off with his cane, of all things!

CSI: NY 100th Episode on 9 June 09 - My Name is Mac Taylor
CSI: NY has drawn and kept millions of viewers on the edge of their seats since its debut in 2004, spawning several comics and novels from its explorations of crime in the Big Apple. Now, five years later and in its fifth fabulous season, it continues to be incredibly popular and is celebrating with its milestone episode! In fact, a record 14 million US viewers tuned in for CSI: NY's 100th episode, a remarkable 17 percent leap from its previous episode and a whopping 21 percent increase from last season's average.

Brace yourself for a big Mac attack in the 100th episode, which sees the team tackling their most unusual case and one that hits very close to home indeed. Someone is after all Mac Taylors in the city, leaving CSI: NY's protagonist, Detective Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise) and 15 other New Yorkers with the same moniker in mortal danger. With the first two Mac Taylor victims found dead within two weeks, Detective Mac Taylor must determine the killer's motive before he strikes again, while coping with the demands of a new woman on top, his first female boss (Julia Ormond).

Look out for star-studded guest appearances like Chris Daughtry (American Idol finalist), Nelly (Rap Superstar), Marshall Faulk (National Football League Legend), Rumer Willis (daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore) and Scott Wolf (Party of Five star), just to name a few.

CSI 200th Episode on 17 June 09 - Mascara
CSI led the revolution of crime shows on TV with its daringly explicit portrayal of crime investigations. Currently in its ninth season, the powerHouse series still shows no sign of going gently into that goodnight, evident in the US premiere which won its time period in all key measures with 23.5 million viewers. Similarly on AXN, the 'Home of CSI', Season 9 has been more than warmly received by viewers in the region, with the premiere leading its timeslot in the key markets of Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

This original CSI series has undergone a massive revamp in the past year with the departure of key characters Warrick Brown, Sara Sidle and the beloved Gil Grissom, in the process initiating Laurence Fishburne as CSI newcomer, Dr Langston. Despite such a major change in cast, CSI still pulls in the viewers with its intriguing storyline and forensic technology, with Nielsen Media Research ranking the current season as the top primetime drama season-to-date in the US. Along with House and CSI: Miami, CSI was also recently nominated as the top three highest rated dramas in the 4th International TV Audience Awards.

In commemoration of its roaring success, is the CSI 200th Episode airing on 17 June on AXN. Directed by Academy Award and Golden Globe Award winner William Friedkin (The Exorcist), this gritty and terrifyingly atmospheric episode is set in the semi-surreal world of Mexican Wrestling. Langston is in for a shock when a murder victim turns out to be a bright, former student of his and struggles to keep himself from getting emotionally involved as the CSI team tracks the killer down.

So don't forget to tune in this June to AXN and the landmark, milestone episodes of these various signature series, and rediscover why House, CSI and CSI: NY are here to stay!
