AFTER their trip to the U. S. , Dr. Vicki Belo and Hayden Kho hied off to Japan for another trip abroad. The beauty expert no longer hides the fact that they've indeed gotten back into each other's arms. "Walang magawa kahit mga anak niya dahil mahal talaga ni doktora si Hayden," says someone close to Dr. Vicki. "Ayaw paawat kahit nasaktan na, kaya hands up na lang sila dahil hindi naman nila maibibigay ang kaligayahang nakukuha ng mama nila kay Hayden. BETTER SHOWS ON '5'

TV 5 execs are elated that their Saturday shows are rating very well, particularly "Talentadong Pinoy" hosted by Ryan Agoncillo and Oyo Sotto's "Midnight DJ" that both post double digit ratings. They're optimistic that when "Who Wants to Be A Millionaire" starts airing next Saturday hosted by Vic Sotto, their ratings will get even higher. Meantime, their late afternoon youth-oriented show, "Lipgloss", gets another boost with the inclusion of Lovi Poe in the cast. Being the daughter of the late Da King FPJ, Lovi is truly a welcome addition in the show that spices up the Saturday afternoon viewing of many young people today. She'll play a runaway princess who falls in love with Edge (Kevin Lapena), a mainstay of the Linden High Barkada.
NIKKI ON 'TSB'

AFTER doing drama in "Pieta", Nikki Gil is back singing in "The Singing Bee" this weekend. She'll be the special guest singer who'll join the show's regular Song Bees: Frenchie Dy, Mike Cruz, OJ Mariano, Led Sobrepeña and MC Castro. "Ang gagaling nila and I'm glad to work with them kasi nacha-challenge akong mas galingan ang pagkanta ko," she says. Nikki also hosted Miss Earth Philippines last Sunday and hosted the Bayanijuan sa Calauan project of ABS-CBN Foundation last Monday where she did community work involving the relocation of 4,000 squattrers along the Pasig River reloca-ted to the Caluan resettlement site.

In tonight's Flores de Mayo episode, the contestants are Celebrity Reyna Emperatriz team (Carla Humphries, Nina Jose), Celebrity Escorts led by Jon Avila, Beautiful Gays who join santakrusans, and the team of the Banker in Deal or No Deal called Parokya ni Banker. Tomorrow, Sunday, the contestants are Magkakadugo team composed of siblings Ian, Matet, and Kenneth De Leon, cousins Gian, Oyo, and Danica Sotto, and siblings Vandolph, Michelle and Alvin Quizon. KUYA GERMS HONORED

German Moreno aka Kuya Germs will be honored by the PASADO (Pampelikulang Samahan ng mga Dalubguro) tonight with a lifetime achievement award to be held at the Manila Grand Opera Hotel. The Pasado awards are for honorees who excelled in science, language, art and the humanities. The award is given for the contributions of Kuya Germs as a starmaker and impresario over the years in films and TV.

"It's different from any award I've received before as it comes from respected educators," says Kuya Germs, whose humble beginning started on the stage of the Clover Theatre where he initially worked as a janitor. He later became a comedian connected with Sampaguita Pictures and also directed some films.
HIS GRANDMA'S GRANDSON

IC Mendoza hosts a showbiz talk show with his own mom, Inquirer columnist Dolly Anne Carvajal, on Viva Cinema, "Chikalectric", shown weekdays on Cignal channel at 6:30 p. m. MOVIE REVIEW: BEST FRIENDS FOREVER

WE didn't expect much from "Best Friends Forever" since the last work of Director Wenn Deramas, "Tanging Ina Nyong Lahat" (topgrosser in the last Metro filmfest), bored us and failed to make us laugh. We just went to see BFF for the sake of our grandaughter Louise. But are we in a for a big surprise. Wenn succeeds in redeeming himself with a farce that really works.

We were laughing from start to finish. The opening scene, with Sharon running after the school bus of her kids to give to her daughter a school project she forgets along with the plate of food she got from her youngest boy who is so obese (Carl Camo), is really hilarious. The sequence ends with the fat boy succeeding in retrieving from Sharon the plate of food she was earlier trying to take away from him.

The humor in Mel del Rosario's script is so irreverent (a major character is killed through a shocking accident) and rather jolting (the ending features the surprise appearance of an actor who Star Cinema earlier said won't be in the film). What makes it work primarily is the fine performance of the two leads, Sharon Cuneta as Honey and Ai Ai de las Alas as Frances. The movie is actually not just about their friendship spoiled by their sharing the same man, John Estrada, but also about their differences in style as mothers to their respective offspring. Sharon is very caringly maternal, Ai Ai is more lenient and freewheeling.

They're also both given their own dramatic moments. Ai Ai shines in that scene where she finally breaks up with John, while Sharon is outstanding in her breakdown scene when she hears her husband's voice on the phone confirming that her suspicions that he's having an affair were true, and it's with her own best friend no less. She's also good in that scene where she tells John to leave their home. Sharon shows she's really is a good sport as she doesn't mind the script making fun of her excess weight. Other vain stars (especially someone of her stature) won't allow themselves to be a laughing stock like this, but it's to her credit that she did. She probably feels so secure that her fans will continue to support her no matter how much she weighs. After all, she's still in demand as a credible endorser even if she's "doble antso".

There are so many no-holds-barred, go-for-broke comedy scenes in the movie that are just laugh out loud riotous, particularly the catfight scene in front of the church where Sharon and Ai Ai even fell down the stairs while pulling each other's hair. Our only complain is that the movie is rather long. Whenever Sharon and Ai Ai are on screen, the movie is really alive and perky, but it sags when they include subplots that could have been trimmed to make the pacing quicker, like the scenes involving Sharon's daughter flirting with a cute boy in school.

Giving riotous support are John Estrada as the two-timing husband (his macho dancing to convince Chokoleit not to side with Sharon is ribtickling), Chokoleit as Sharon's gay maid (a very dramatic scene turns funny when Sharon instructs him to carry her fat son and put him to bed), and Empress Schuck as Ai Ai's "pasaway" daughter.
