Iza enjoys Alfred

Iza enjoys Alfred

AFTER five years of airing Magpakailanman bade goodbye and we will surely miss the floral outfit of host, Mel Tiangco being blown by the wind. It is time for a new show to unfold to make your Thursday primetime viewing eerie and chilling.

Enter ESP, a suspense thriller starring Iza Calzado, Alfred Vargas and Francine Prieto. At least the supervising producer of the new suspense program is honest enough to admit that ESP is inspired by Ghost Whisperer and probably a sprinkling of X-Files. The big difference is the infusion of a Pinoy flavor.

Iza is Casandra, an investigative journalist who will do whatever it takes in order to get a scoop. She seems to have achieved everything in life and that includes the love of Dave, the handsome television executive.

Then a near tragedy occurs which will change her entire world as she regains consciousness and discover that she has acquired a unique skill.

Won't her performance be affected since she will also be seen o n a daily basis with Robin Padilla in Joaquin Bordado?

"The pressure is always there whenever I am assigned a new project which I consider quite normal. The pressure is lessened because I remained focused on the character I am doing. Joaquin Bordado is more of an action adventure thus it is physically exhausting. ESP is about mental telepathy which is something deeper to portray. What really lessened the pressure is teamwork. ," she explains.

With regard to her leading man Alfred Vargas, the soft-spoken Iza has nothing but wonderful words for the actor who was not able to make it to the presscon due to location taping in Batangas for Nuts Entertainment.

"I have worked with Alfred before and he is one of the most thoughtful and professional persons I feel comfortable with. It is already an advantage when you enjoy The Company of your co-stars. Alfred is more than a colleague. He is a friend. "

Was she tempted to imitate Korina Sanchez or the forever smiling Vicky Morales for her role in ESP?

"I don't have to because I happen to see Bikini Open and enjoyed the performance of Cherie Pie Picache. I took note of some of her mannerisms and blend it with my own. ," she admits.

MIKEL WILLING TO DO SOMETHING ELSE
"I may not have the abs but I am willing to do sexy roles," proclaimed six-footer Mikel Campos who wants to be given another crack at stardom.

The former teen star has appeared in a few Viva movies like Filipinas, Captain Barbell and Lastikman. He vanished from the scene due to personal conflicts.

Mikel is now being managed by Viva Artists Agency headed by Veronique del Rosario-Corpus which hopefully will put Mikel back on the right track unless something personal occured again.
