Jake Cuenca fondly recalls courting Angelica Panganiban for two years Author: Rachelle Siazon Jake Cuenca and Angelica Panganiban haven't started taping Rubi yet but the two are already excited to work together in a full length teleserye. The prospect of getting closer than ever on the set couldn't help but remind Jake of the fact that she used to be his puppy love back in their teens. "We go way way back. As in nagsisimula pa lang ako. She was kind of like a teacher to me and she's a real friend kasi ang tagal na naming magkaibigan. Kumbaga tried and tested na talaga. Hindi naging kami pero matagal akong nanligaw sa kanya, mga dalawang taon. Pero we were destined to be friends," said the 21-year-old actor to ABS-CBN.com. More than being broken-hearted over her, Jake explained that what he remembers the most were the happy times. Most guys would have recoiled from a girl's rejection but he was glad that he soon realized that they were better off as friends. " Ay nako, si Angelica na lang tanungin ninyo pagdating sa ganyan (laughs). Pero marami akong natutunan sa two years na yun. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing. Siyempre bagets na bagets naman ako nun. I was only 14 or 15 at that time. So just imagine how persistent I was as a suitor. Pero ngayon pinagtatawanan na lang namin tulad nung nasa set kami one time tapos pinaalala ko sa kanya mga nangyari nun. Basta ang dami naming storya niyan ni Angelica," he revealed. Now that Angelica is going to have her launching soap as the famous bida-kontrabida of the said Mexicanovela remake, Jake further shared that he's really happy to support her this time around. "I'm just very proud of her. I'm sure she's a little bit nervous and pressured. But when it comes down to it, Angelica always delivers when given a project like this. As one of her leading men in the story, I'm just here to support her. This is really her moment to shine, to prove everyone na leading lady na siya talaga." After seeing Angelica in Banana Split, viewers know by now that the young dramatic actress also has a good sense of humor. And this is what Jake anticipates when they finally get started in Rubi. "To work with her is always a pleasure. Tsaka ang sarap talaga katrabaho ni Angelica kasi sobrang spontaneous niya. You'd never know what's gonna happen when shooting a scene with her kasi ang kulit niya, ganon talaga personality niya e. So I'm sure super mageenjoy kami sa paggawa ng teleserye.
