Watching the replay of their Pregnancy Kit episode in Maalaala Mo Kaya last Saturday, September 26, further reminded Jake that he and Roxanne really complement each other when it comes to acting on TV. "I don't know if you were able to watch it but we taped that a long time ago. It was the first MMK episode for 2009. Actually sobrang vinavalue ko yung team up namin kasi no one knows me better than Roxanne. Tsaka siyempre iba yung love team na yun para sa aming dalawa e. That love team was really the one that gave us our first acting break and we had lots of good times together back then," he said in an interview with ABS-CBN. The former Tayong Dalawa heartthrob further shared that he wants to keep his friendship with Roxanne just like what happened between ex-lovers Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa. " Sobra! Like what I said kanina, she was a very big part of my career. And ang sa akin, to do a project with her again would be very good. Sana nga magkaroon ng opportunity na magka-soap kaming dalawa kung kakayanin. To go back to that time when we were first paired with each other? I'm sure Jericho and Kristine feel the same way. Yung magkikita kayong dalawa na mas mature na kayo, moving on in life na kayo. Sa totoo lang I'm a better actor when I act with her. She knows how to [bring out the best in me]," he recalled. Jake also defended Roxanne on the issue where she was called a pasaway by some members of the entertainment press. "I was actually very, very shocked with that issue kasi that's not really Roxanne e. Maybe she's going through stuff kaya nangyari yung nangyari. But no, isa siyang professional na artista. I have to give it to her. Halos karamihan ng natutunan ko about my work, I learned from her. I mean she was really a very influential person in my life and in my career. Maybe she was just misunderstood or her words were taken out of context. Hindi ako naniniwala na ganon si Roxanne," he stressed. As a good friend, Jake can't help but be concerned about Roxanne whenever things go wrong in her life but he also respects the fact that Roxanne has a boyfriend who takes good care of her now. "No I wasn't able to text her. Siyempre Roxanne has a boyfriend, super nirerespeto ko 'yan. And I'm so happy na she found the person who loves her the way she deserves to be loved. If I were to ask how she is, maybe if I see her in person na lang, na hindi naman malabo mangyari kasi pareho naman kaming nandito sa ABS-CBN," he explained.
