This will also be shown on Saturdays, before "Eat Bulaga." The show was formally introduced to the press last Monday and Joey was absent in "Eat Bulaga" then to attend the presscon His assistants in the show are Ryan Yllana, who plays two roles as Vicky Bola and as Madam Bondat, a fortuneteller who foresees peoples quirkiness in her crystal ball; and Cookie, Belly and Boobay, a triple-headed gypsy assigned to research on quirky places, signage, activities and habits exclusive to Pinoys. They also hosted the hit "Takeshis Castle" whose last season with GMA-7 just ended. We tell Joey that local viewers might not be able to understand the meaning of the word "quirky." "E, walang magagawa," he says. "Yun talaga ang original title ng show and we just added my name to give it a more local flavor. Hopefully, this will urge viewers look up in the dictionary what quirky means." The show takes viewers all over the world as it shows video clips of weird, grotesque and bizarre incidents and trivia. What can Joey say about Willie Revillames remark made while being interviewed on his hospital bed? Willie said that hes watching "Eat Bulaga" at "mas maganda pa rin ang show natin (Wowowee)." At first, Joey doesnt want to answer this. "Lets just talk about Joeys Quirky World," he says. But when he was pressed for a comment, he adds: "When you write about this, please make it clear that hindi ako ang nagpasimula, huh. Malou (Choa-Fagar, their executive producer) said, Huwag na lang nating pansinin. Expect the word war between Joey and Willie to be activated once again. *** Pia Guanio was not in the studio with co-hosts Raymond Gutierrez, John Lapus and DJ Mo in "Showbiz Central" last Sunday. She was with Robin Padilla and Regine Velasquez for the big live promo of "Totoy Bato" at the SM Mall of Asia where Robin was the subject of the "Intriga Crossfire" portion. Here are the questions to Robin. Pia: "Since you have many love scenes with Regine in Totoy Bato, what did you tell Ogie Alcasid about it?" Hes the greater man kaya okay na yun. Ill always be a friend to Regine." "May pressure ba sa role mo as Totoy Batona malagpasan o mahigitan?" (Pia wasnt specific about this so Robin assumed shes referring to the late Fernando Poe, Jr. who first played Totoy Bato before on the big screen.) Director Mac Alejandrewho had such a long-winding intro before finally asking his question: "When you do love scenes with Regine, nakikita mo ba si Ogie sa paligid?" "Malabong mangyari yun. Di ko nakikita si Ogie. Bulag ako. Iba naman yung trabaho at iba yung personal. Ang sa amin ni Regine, trabaho lang. After that, sila na ni Ogie." At first he said no, then added: "Oo, siempre, anak. *** Former model-actress Lara Fabregas is in town on a vacation and she was interviewed in "Showbiz Central" last Sunday about her former husband, Raymond Bagatsing, who she married in Indian rites in 2001. "Everywhere I go now, si Kuya Kim ang hinahanap sa akin," he says. "I was invited sa provinces, sabi, nasaan si Kuya Kim? I tell them ako ang guest of honor, but they say, oo nga, pero sana sinama nyo si Kuya Kim. What can he say about Manny joining politics? "Very vocal ako in telling Manny na dinidiyos ka ng tao sa boxing, not politics. Sinubukan na niyang tumakbo sa kasusulsol ng iba, natalo siya and that should be a lesson for him. Mag-focus na lang siya sa boxing and wait for the people later to tell him to run, hindi pa siya gagastos. Di gaya ngayon, what he earned from boxing, mauubos lang dun sa mga nagsusulsol sa kanya." After his last term as Manila mayor, he thought of retiring and taking it easy. "But then I got this offer to be Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources and I like that. Kasi, even as mayor, ang goalko was buhayin ang Maynila, urban renewal. And I succeeded in that with what I did in Baywalk, Carriedo and Rizal Ave. It produced a lot of employment and business opportunities, plus added income for the city." How did he feel when current Mayor Fred Lim dismantled all the improvements he did in those places? "Siempre, nasaktan ako. He did that yata to spite me. Ngayon, pati billboards daw ni Kim, inaalis lahat. Sana, huwag na lang haluan ng politika." Is he running for mayor again in 2010? "I dont know. I leave it all to God. As of now, ang focus ko pa rin is environment. Ibang-iba ito sa pagiging mayor as its scope is nationwide. We were given rich natural resources and we should take better care of it for the future of our nation. Due to the wanton cutting of our trees during martial law, we had natural disasters like floods and landslides. My goal is to institute massive reforestation programs and stop illegal logging. I want to ask our movie stars whose advocacy is the environment to help us in fostering public awareness." He was told that two stars who champion the environment are Richard Gutierrez and Chin Chin Gutierrez. He said hell try to contact them to help him. "I also want to rehabilitate the Pasig River, Laguna Lake and Manila Bay and have a zero waste management program. Lahat ng mga ito, we can achieve with our concerted effort." Source: Malaya |
