Joyce, Paul's second honeymoon

Joyce, Paul's second honeymoon

Author: The Philippine Star

Anytime today, newly-weds Joyce Jimenez and Paul Ely Egbalic should be flying back to Manila from El Nido in Palawan where they spent their second honeymoon. They were wed on Aug. 23 in Walnut, California, and, as Funfare reported, they were so tired after the wedding (because Joyce decided not to hire a wedding planner and attended to the details herself) that they spent their first night as husband and wife in sweet slumber on the carpeted sala of Joyce's parents' house, she in her Frederick Peralta gown and he in his tuxedo.

Barely two weeks after their wedding, Joyce flew back to fulfill some commitments while Paul went to Georgia to start a six-month training at a US naval base. They had agreed to live apart for the meantime and decided where to finally settle down later on.

Actually, according to Joyce herself, they already spent their "honeymoon" in Boracay in December last year. A case of putting the carriage before the horse.

The second "honeymoon" was not planned. Paul had to rush here last Wednesday to be by Joyce's side after she got involved in a car accident at 2 a. m. on her way back from Baguio after shooting an episode for the TV5 show Philippines' Scariest Stories. The driver swerved and landed on a ricefield several feet below somewhere in Pangasinan while avoiding a bus (with glaring headlights) that overtook a track and cut into the opposite lane.

"I was seated in front," recalled Joyce who sustained cuts on her forehead and bruises all over her legs (but no major injury, thank heavens!), "and luckily, I had the seatbelt on and I was hugging two pillows while I was asleep. That saved me. "

Paul's week-long stay has given him and Joyce a chance to resume their interrupted honeymoon. Asked when it actually started, Paul said in jest, "In the hospital where she was confined. " He's going back tomorrow night, looking forward to spending Christmas with Joyce in California. Asked if conjugal visits are allowed at the training camp in Georgia, Paul said, "No way!"

They couldn't agree on how many children they plan to have.

"I want four," said Paul, "in four years time -- one after the other. "

"I want only two," Joyce protested, joking. "Hindi ko kaya ang apat. "

They'll start on their "joint venture" maybe two years from now.

Although she said she's praying for a boyfriend before Christmas, Alessandra de Rossi insisted that she's happy being single for two years now.

"Come to think of it," she hastened to add, "huwag muna. Nakaka-stress ang may boyfriend. "

Her last was Jeremy Marquez who was her fourth boyfriend from showbiz (after Biboy Ramirez, Polo Ravales and Oyo Sotto).

She's not pihikan (choosy).

"Basta mayaman, mabait at guwapo okay na sa akin," said Alessandra. "But preferably not from showbiz. I stand 5'7" so he must be taller than I am, mga 5'10" okay na sa akin. I am 24, so he must be 10 years older. "

From GMA, Alessandra has jumped ober da bakod back to ABS-CBN where she actually started as a member of Star Circle Batch 7 (with, among others, Jodi Sta. Maria and Desiree del Valle).

"It's just like a homecoming," she said.

Alessandra's first balik-ABS-CBN show is I Love Betty La Fea where she plays the ex-secretary/ex-lover of Armando (John Lloyd Cruz) and therefore an antagonist of Betty (Bea Alonzo). She's also in the cast of the forthcoming movie-inspired-teleserye, Komiks Presents Mars Ravelo's Dragona.

Since some of her contemporaries are either getting married or getting pregnant out of wedlock, Alessandra was asked if -- knock on wood -- she's jumping into the bandwagon.

"Spare me," she said.

But she's ready to get married "anytime. "

So what's keeping her?

"Wala pa akong boyfriend, eh!"

Well, if you fit the "qualifications" mentioned by Alessandra earlier, you may fall in line -- now! Fr. Joey Faller's healing schedule
