Column: Weekender THE first and only Pinoy Idol, Gretchen Espina, is now a true-blue recording star with the launch of her debut album Shining Through from Sony Music. Its carrier song is Kasalanan Nga Ba with a matching MTV directed by Paul Soriano. Her winning piece during the Pinoy Idol finals To You is also included in the thirteen-cut album and also the almost operatic Promise and her cover version of So Slow. Still a GMA Artist Center star, when asked who her favorite singers are, the SOP regular admits she likes the ASAP torch singer Lani Misalucha and Mr. Energy himself Gary Valenciano. Lani, she said, can sing any genre whereas Gary V's energetic style fascinates the pride of Biliran. Gretchen later on got the admiration of the press for being true to herself by not necessarily naming co-GMA talents for idols. MARIAN's BF WILL NEVER BE A BIG STAR LIKE HER
JUST like Dennis Trillo, Tarot main star Marian Rivera was given a card-reading as a presscon gimmick for the Regal Films horror movie opening this August 26 from the direction of Jun Lana. Marian was initially against having her future read as she is not a believer of fortune telling but since it was an apt gimmick for the movie and a source of additional information, the GMA primetime queen went along with it. Too, like her partner Dennis, she became a believer after the session with most of her private life and wishes being 'seen' in the cards. One intriguing note during the reading, it was said that while it could be possible that her current boyfriend could be her last, it was also read in the card that no boyfriend of hers could be as big as her in terms of star status.
