Kapuso’s next big star

Clearly, Geoff Eigenmann is GMA-7’s next important male star. After appearing in the maiden presentation of SRO Cinemaserye titled “Ganti” which did well ratings-wise, the handsome lad recently grabbed the plum role of Fernando Jose in the local adaptation of the hit telenovela Rosalinda which starred Thalia. Geoff will breathe life to the male lead originally played by Mexican heartthrob Fernando Carillo.

“When I learned that I got the part, my jaw dropped! I was initially speechless. I was surprised, happy, excited and proud all at the same time. It’s a huge production and I can’t believe I’m the leading man,” he admits.

The fact that Rosalinda is an ambitious project makes Geoff a bit nervous.

“I know that the management is expecting a lot because the show has an instant recall already among boob tube fanatics. Another reason is that it’s my first prime time show for GMA and the female lead is a fresh face, Carla Abellana. But I’m confident the program will be a hit just like Marimar before.”

Speaking of Carla, how’s his relationship with his new screen partner?

“We’re still in the getting-to-know stage but I can say that she’s nice. Apart from her physical beauty, she’s also witty, smart, classy and educated. She simply stands out in the crowd. She’s really perfect as Rosalinda!” states Geoff.

Some quarters say that with Rosalinda, he’ll be a big threat to Dingdong Dantes and Richard Gutierrez as GMA’s hottest leading men in the coming days.

“Honestly, I don’t want to think about that at this point in time. I’m thankful to be given big breaks and I promise to do my best so as not to disappoint all those who believe in my potential,” Geoff says.

Ruffa says no John Lloyd

The beauty queen-actress-host wants to correct earlier reports that she was forced to leave their home.

“I wasn’t! My dad [Eddie Gutierrez] was there to accompany us out. Of course, I tagged along my daughters Lorin and Venice. Actually, it was our prior agreement when I came back here in the Philippines: that my stay with the family will be temporary until I find our own place.

“I guess now is the perfect time since I was able to go back to my showbiz career and is earning again. I deemed it would be better also for me and my mom, to cool things down. So I’m just surprised hearing that I was allegedly forced out of our house. That’s baloney! Nothing like that happened!”

In spite of their sad state at present, Ruffa believes she and Annabelle will kiss and make up eventually.

“I know that in the next few days, we’ll talk. People close to us will definitely do something for us to discuss and explain our respective side. You know, no matter what, my love and respect for my mom remains intact. That’s the reason why I decided to keep distance from her, to avoid arguments that could just worsen the situation. But as I’ve said, this is just temporary,” she assures.

Ruffa also has a message to those whose names are being dragged into her present issue with her feisty mom.

“I want to apologize to them. They know who they are. I’d like to make it clear that they’ve got nothing to do with all these. It’s between me and my mom!”

Rumors have it that that the main cause of Ruffa’s misunderstanding with Annabelle has something to do with heartthrob John Lloyd Cruz’s alleged showing of interest to the statuesque beauty but both have denied that romance is brewing between them.

Love the second time around

Marvin Agustin says he’s always excited to work with Jolina Magdangal because their screen chemistry remains strong up to now. In fact, in their latest project for GMA-7 titled Adik Sa ’Yo, they already have a bed scene.

“That’s right!” he beams. “I think it’s just okay since we’re already 30 years old. We should mature with our portrayals, too. It helps that our director is the highly-respected Joel Lamangan. It was like one rehearsal, one take.

“We felt relaxed and confident. Actually, Jolina and I are happier on the set now. We’re more free-flowing. There’s no wall between us. We were able to nurture our friendship over the years. Perhaps, that’s the secret why the public still gets tickled pink by our love team.”

They also have a kissing scene in the romantic-comedy series. How did it go?

“We didn’t feel any tension whatsoever. There was no inhibition and we just became professional about it. In fact, I was teasing her that finally, after 13 years, I was able to kiss her on screen. Ha-ha-ha!” reveals the actor-restaurateur.

Many are curious about the taste of Jolens’ kiss.

“It can be compared to the most delicious dessert one can imagine!”
