| Karylle wants Zsa Zsa, Dolphy to tie the knot![]() Author: Ethel Ramos EVEN at age 6, Sharlene San Pedro, who turned 10 this April, already knew that she wanted to be a TV and movie star. Hence, when she learned about the "Star Circle Kids Quest" which ABS-CBN conducted four years ago, she asked her mom to bring her to the audition. "From the start, I enjoyed everything we were asked to do," she said. "Kung sabagay, lahat kami ng fellow contestants ko ganun ang naramdaman. "Pero, like in any contest, there is only one first prize winner. "I was lucky I emerged as the first runner-up to Nash (Aguas, who won first prize plus P50,000 cash). "Pero, dahil din nga, kahit papaano, nanalo din ako, nagsimula nang nabago ang buhay namin. Kasi nga, nabibigyan na ako ng assignments sa TV," she said. Her parents used to manage their water delivery business in Pulilan, Bulacan. Now, her mom accompanies her to her tapings and other commitments while her dad handles their business. Its also her mom who keeps her earnings in the bank. "For me and my siblings future," Sharlene said. Sharlene is the middle child in a brood of three (one boy and two girls). They all study at a private school in Pulilan. "Ako ho ay isang special student, since I attend classes only every other day. I make up for the lessons I miss sa araw na mayschool ako. Ang tutor ko po ay mismong titser ko," she revealed. Would she want to be in showbiz all her life? "Kung puwede ho," Sharlene replied. "But I want to try another field na may kinalaman din sa TV. Gusto kong maging broadcast journalist, like Tita Korina (Sanchez)." Sharlene is always assigned to play Korina whenever the broadcaster is spoofed in the youth gag program of ABS-CBN, "Goin Bulilit." *** Three years ago, top comedian Dolphy and his lady love of nearly two decades, Zsa Zsa Padilla, decided to get married in Las Vegas. But it didnt push through as some technicalities which had to do with the annulment of Zsa Zsas marriage to dentist Modesto Tatlonghari suddenly cropped up. This time, its Karylle, Zsa Zsa and Dr. Tatlongharis daughter, who is reportedly eager to see her mom and Dolphy tie the knot. Said someone close to both Dolphy and Zsa Zsa: "Sana, wala nang problema. If ever." *** If Anita Linda, 84, could get her way, she wouldnt want her series, "Tayong Dalawa," on ABS-CBN to ever bow out. She enjoys taping the show. She feels so much loved by her co-stars, from the seniors like Helen Gamboa, Spanky Manikan, and Gina Pareño, to the not-yet-so-senior Agot Isidro, Cherrie Pie Picache, Jodie Santamaria, plus the bagets, Kim Chiu, Gerard Anderson and Jake Cuenca. "Whenever I arrive on the set, everybody stands up, kahit pa, halimbawang may ginagawa sila. They all pay respects to me," said the multi-awarded actress. "Naiintindihan nila when sometimes I forgot my lines kaya nga I usually request the scriptwriter to give me my lines ahead of time so that I can memorize them." The number of years she has been in showbiz Anita would rather not remember. But she does recall that she received her first best actress trophy from the FAMAS, then the most prestigious awards-giving body in showbiz, in her first big movie, where she played the title role in "Sisa" and she had for director National Artist for Film, the late Gerry de Leon. Trivia about Anita: She was discovered for showbiz by the great director, Bert Avellana, while she was watching a stage show at the then very popular Avenue Theater during the Japanese occupation. At that time, according to Anita, she always wore dresses with her initials, AL (for Alice Lake), embroidered on the left side of her bodice. So as not to change her initials, Direk Bert Avellana decided to give her the screen name Anita Linda. Source: Malaya |
