Katrina's camp dismayed over PMA decision

THE lawyer of actress Katrina Halili expressed disappointment with the two-year membership suspension of Dr. Hayden Kho, which was imposed by the Philippine Medical Association (PMA).

In a phone interview with Raymund Palad, legal counsel of Halili, he said the suspension given to Kho reflects the low moral standards of PMA.

According to him, the PMA needs to elucidate the outcome of the order to its members.

"The PMA has a lot of explaining to do to its members considering the suspension of membership they imposed to Hayden," he said.

He added: "So someone can commit sex videotaping with a number of girls and the most they can receive is a suspension from the PMA? The decision shows the low moral standards of PMA."

The order imposed to Kho is the result of the investigation done by the PMA on his sex video scandal.

When asked if they were hoping for a revocation of Kho's membership, Palad said: "We never prayed, in the first place, for his revocation or suspension but we were hoping that they will consider the offence committed not only to Katrina but to Filipinas in general and to the medical profession as well."

"It was like a slap on the wrist. It should have been a revocation to set an example to other doctors or professionals to not emulate this kind of action," he added.

Palad said the PMA should have taken into consideration the other girls seen in the sex videos. "The PMA should have extended their views and not limit the problem with Katrina. What about Maricar Reyes and the Brazilian model?"

Halili's camp would not file any motion for reconsideration since they did not file any complaint to PMA. It was PMA's initiative to conduct an investigation on the matter.

With the PMA furnishing a copy of the order to the Philippine Regulatory Commission (PRC), Palad meanwhile has high hopes on the results.

"We hope that with PRC, it would rely on the merits of the case," he said.
