Korina almost got hitched in 1997

Korina Sanchez said she has had the chance to meet former beauty queen Maricar Zaldarriaga, the mother of Paolo, who is the son of her fiancé Mar Roxas.

She didn't elaborate, though, on how the meeting went, except that it was friendly.

Fifteen-year-old Paolo will be the best man when his dad weds Korina tmorrow, October 27 at the Santo Domingo Church.

Korina, on the other hand, will have former beauty queen Dang Cecilio-Palanca for her maid of honor.

In the same interview with Yes Magazine, Korina revealed that she almost got married to someone else in 1997. In fact, she already had the wedding gown ready, designed and executed by noted couturier-designer, Inno Sotto.

Invitations were already set to be delivered.

But the wedding was cancelled. Korina also failed to elaborate why.

Mar and Korina met in the late '90s. But it was in 2002 that their closeness started.

It was in February last year that Senator Mar finally proposed. The pamanhikan happened in June.

"At heto nga, kasalan na," said a kibitzer.

Korina is on leave from ABS-CBN as one of its premiere news anchors, first to prepare for her wedding and, of course, second, to help Senator Mar in his campaign as vice president in next year's elections.

Singer Rachelle Ann Go and Gary Valenciano's son, Gabriel, are no longer an item.

Rachelle herself reportedly confirmed the report.

We wonder if Malaysian actress Carmen Soo, who was in town recently and who even helped ABS-CBN Sagip-Kapamilya in their relief operation, is aware that she is being tagged – not by Rachelle – to be the cause of Rachelle and Gabriel's break-up.

If you remember, Carmen was also first bruited about as the person to whom Heart Evangelista got jealous of and made her decide to break up with Jericho Rosales.

It was only recently that Heart clarified that Carmen was not the one she got jealous of but Jericho's leading lady in a Hollywood movie.

This is the second time that Rachelle will be nursing a broken heart.

A few years back, Rachelle was singing beautiful music with fellow songster Christian Bautista.

They broke up without telling the entertainment press why.

Christian has been going solo since he parted ways was with Rachelle.

This was followed by rumors that he was eyeing Karylle for his next girlfriend.

But he and Karylle later told the press that they are only good friends and cannot be more than that. They say the reason they are close is because they share the same talent manager, Carlo Orosa.

Karylle, in interviews, said she has no immediate plans of entering another relationship after her split up from Dingdong Dantes, who now has his eyes focused on Marian Rivera.

It's now confirmed that Roselle Nava – yup, the singer – will wed her non-showbiz boyfriend, Allen Tan, on January 17 at the Manila Cathedral.

Reception will be held at the Palacio de Manila along Roxas Blvd.

The former "Ang TV" talent will have in her entourage her fellow ABS-CBN protégés, Jolina Magdangal, Rica Peralejo and Lindsay Custodio.

It's nice to mention that Rica will soon be a bride herself. She has set her wedding to Pastor Joseph Bonifacio also in January next year.

Lindsay is now married to a Batangas political scion. And Jolina, of course, is now happily in love with band member Mark Escueta.

It will be recalled that one of Roselle's best-selling records, "Mahal Na Mahal Kita," was adapted as the title of a Star Cinema movie, which starred Claudine Barretto and the late Rico Yan.

It was a blockbuster.

Roselle and Allen will honeymoon in Hong Kong and Macau. They might choose to eventually seek permanent residence in the US, where Alex's family is based.
