Kris still doesn’t know Angelo Patrimonio

A year since he became a Star Magic premium talent, Angelo Patrimonio still has not formally met Kris Aquino, the ex-girlfriend of his father, Alvin Patrimonio. Although they’ve crossed paths at ABS-CBN, nobody has taken the initiative to introduce them to each other. It’s as if some unknown power is working overtime for them not to meet.

Buzzstationfaced Angelo during the first anniversary press conference of Abt Ur Luv (Ur Lyf 2) and the celebration of its Best Youth-Oriented Show win at the 21st Star Awards for Television. He was with the cast, which includes Aaron Agassi, AJ Perez, Arno Morales, Bryan Homecillo, Carla Humphries, Cris Gutierrez, Daphne Cortez, Empress Schuck, Enchong Dee, Erich Gonzales, Isabel Blaesi, Isabelle Abiera, Jessy Mendiola, John Wayne Sace, Krista Valle, Lauren Young, Martin del Rosario and Zia Marquez. Also there were new members Alfonso Martinez and Be Bench winner Carlo Guevarra. No-shows were Mikee Lee and Dino Imperial, who were occupied with school work. They are Ateneo University and La Salle University students, respectively. Maegan Young, newly evicted from Big Brother’s house, wanted to join, but it seems she has “graduated” from the show. This is most likely to happen to Victor Basa when his stint at Big Brother’s house is over.

Angelo is no longer painfully shy. He joined our table on his own accord. And to think we were talking about crushes. Who are his crushes? After finishing the glass of iced water (and the ice cubes), he said they are the sisters Maegan and Lauren Young and Empress Shuck! If he were his old self, he would have avoided us like a knee injury. He’s into basketball, but he opened up about his decision to be an actor than a cager. He shared that he had always wanted to be seen on television when he was a kid. He could also talk about himself, but takes a shorter time to warm up. Angelo is Webb in the series. In tomorrow’s episode entitled “Star Magicked,” as directed by Erik Salud, he joins the whole gang for a studio tour of ABS-CBN as part of their school field trip. Watch! It’s Saturday at 10 a.m.

More libel cases to be slapped

Star Magic’s Johnny “Mr. M” has ordered the gathering of libelous print, television and radio materials involving three showbiz writers, who Lolit Solis accused of having maligned Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby more than her. As Lolit’s accusation has basis, Mr. M decided to lay the legal basis to sue them. These writers have been openly calling and describing them, more particularly Piolo, as gay (“baklita,” swardspeak for a gay person). Star Magic is seeking redress from the court to determine the lawfulness of such actions, which had been going on for many years. For sure, keeping mum and taking no action on the part of Star Magic for such malicious attacks is over. Compiling evidences to these libel cases will not be difficult. Star Magic Public Relations manager Rikka Dylim, who is also a victim of such malicious attack, has been monitoring all broadsheets, tabloids and magazines everyday and everything about its premium stars are clipped and filed.

Piolo’s son traumatized

Lolit Solis has been wondering what the big deal is about being tagged “gay” in the case of Piolo Pascual. What she has conveniently forgotten, like she uses issues regarding the case to her opportunity, is that Piolo has an 11-year-old son named Inigo. The poor boy was the subject of cruel jokes from his schoolmates when S-Files released the sex video with a guy who looks like his father performing a sexual act with another guy. It turned out that the Piolo lookalike was a hospitality worker from Cebu by this guy’s own admission. He was paid to perform the act for a gay porno movie. It turned out Piolo had nothing to do with it, but his son was badly traumatized by the incident. This is the reason Piolo tried hard to avoid his accusers. Now that his son is studying in the US, he is ready to confront them such as what he did in the Lolit case. Lolit should stop her strategy of winning the public’s sympathy and prepare for her defense. Or, in a best scenario case, apologize and retract.

Atty. Joji maligned

The host of Chika Mo! Chika Ko!, who described Atty. Joji Alonso as a “producer na ngayon lang yata nag-law” and “mukhang walang masyadong alam sa law,” necessarily maligned her reputation. This was an irresponsible comment stated in a recent narrowcast of the showbiz talk show in connection with the libel case the lawyer filed against Lolit Solis for Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby. Considering that many of the top 500 corporations in the country are retained clients of Rayala Alonso and Partners, her law firm, the statement cast serious doubts on her and her law office’s ability to provide competent legal service and tainted her family’s impeccable reputation.

The Alonso clan, a family of scholars, is well-respected in Cebu. Her sister Tina is a Fulbright Hayes scholar (Masters in Nuclear Engineering) and has a PhD in Material Sciences, while Fi has a Post-Doctorate in Molecular Biology. Atty. Joji is a UP Law School Class 87 graduate and ranked number 16 when she took the bar exams where only 17.3% passed. She is also a distinguished member of the entertainment industry, Kubrador (The Bet Collector) having been graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board and won Best Picture Awards from the Urian Awards, Cinemanila, Catholic Mass Media Awards and Golden Screen Awards. Atty. Joji had obtained a copy of said narrowcast and will act accordingly to clear her name.

Ai Ai ready to be Robin’s second wife

“Kakausapin ko muna si Liezel (Padilla) kung gusto niya akong maging second wife ni Robin (Padilla),” quipped Ai Ai delas Alas during the press conference of Pasukob, Wenn Deramas’ first salvo for OctoArts, which also stars Rufa Mae Quinto. She added, “Siya lang ang wife niya, di ba? Ganoon ang sistema if you want to be one of the four wives of a Muslim.” Ai Ai is single and is hot on the pursuit of a man who will tie the knot with her. Wearing what looked like a flight stewardess uniform, Ai Ai was visibly thrilled when Wenn announced to her that the movie project with Robin as her leading man for Viva Films is pushing through. She requested, “Direk, ‘yung kissing scenes ha?” Buzzstation asked if she’s willing to be Robin’s real wife. Ai Ai cheerfully said yes, but, “Kailangan two years lang.” When asked to justify, she replied in typical Ai Ai way, “Basta!”

Shorties: At the 21st Star Awards for Television

The 21st Star Awards for Television held at the Henry Lee Irwin Theatre at the Ateneo de Manila University clearly used the “something-for-everybody” strategy as indicated by the 54 categories and the numerous ties.... When Sam did his solo number, he passed by John Lloyd Cruz, who stood up to kiss him on the left cheek. Sam could just let go of an embarrassed smile...The theater was poorly ventilated so that Gina Pareno, who was wearing a bob wig, had three ciggie breaks...Faith Cuneta must be overdosing on glutathione as she has turned very white...Has Enchong Dee given up on his courtship of Empress Shuck? It was Dino Imperial who decided to keep her company when she ran out of seats with the rest of the ABt Ur Luv gang...Jeannette Joaquin was easily the night’s attention-grabber. She wore brownish paint on her boobs and nothing but...Arno Morales pronounced 24 Oras (“Beinte-cuarto Oras”) as “Twenty-Four Oras”...Julia Lopez pronounced Edu Manzano’s first name as “Eydu,” which made the house roar with laughter...Tracy Torres announced Pokwang as Best Comedy Actress until production people corrected that it was a tie with Tiya Pusit...Even before ASAP could be announced as Best Musical Variety Show winner, it was already known as winner because Sheryl Cruz wrongly read it earlier...Mel Tiangco was clearly in a I’m-from-GMA mood. When she won best Best Female Newscaster, she dutifully recited the network’s “Walang kinikilingan...” slogan. And when she won the Excellence in Broadcasting Award, she used it to get back at people who tried to destroy her career, without mentioning they were ABS-CBN people in front of her...Charo Santos-Concio was Mel’s exact opposite when Maalaala Mo Kaya received the Best Drama Anthology award. She allowed the people behind the show to shine by making them deliver the acceptance speech...Before Charo could receive the Ading Fernando Lifetime Achievement Award, Mel with escort German Moreno exited...In her acceptance speech, Charo did not get back at Mel, but just thanked all the people who helped her receive the award. She specially mentioned Armida Siguion-Reyna and Lily Monteverde for teaching her about moviemaking...Pauleen Luna kept on using “pamilya” during Eat... Bulaga’s acceptance speech as Best Variety Show. It seems old habits die hard. Pauleen was an ex-Kapamilya network contract star!...Willie Revillame dedicated the Best Male Host trophy to Wowowee co-workers and viewers. He bested Joey de Leon, Vic Sotto, Ogie Alcasid, Luis Manzano, German Moreno and Piolo Pascual...Manilyn Reynes corrected Sam Milby’s boo-boo in announcing Best Female Performance by an Actress instead of Best Single Performance by an Actress... Prince Stefan, for his part, announced Gandang Ricky Reyes instead of Ricky Reyes for the Best Educational Program Host...Raymond Gutierrez and Dingdong Dantes looked like Fat and Thin when they stood side by side...Certain awards turned out to be “PR na PR” awards...The most enthusiastic Best Actor nominee was Nash Aguas, who stayed until the the awards night’s end...Piolo Pascual, who won Best Single Performance by an Actor for Maalala Mo Kaya’s “Piso” was a no-show due to sickness...If this year’s awards accomplished anything, it was the lack of widespread charge of vote-buying and leakage of winners. Congrats to the Philippine Movie Press Club members and president Fernan de Guzman! The souvenir program was also the best in years...The 21st Star Awards for Television will be broadcast on RPN-9 tonight at 10 p.m.
