Kris-James marriage: Doomed from the start?

WE GOT several follow-up emails about the allegedly stormy marriage of Kris Aquino and James Yap.

From Chunkee Corned Beef: "May friends kami sa Pure Foods Team at talaga raw nagko-confide sa kanila si James na wala na ang marriage nila ni Kris. Separated na sila kasi si Kris daw ay hindi na umuuwi ng bahay nila. Ang gusto raw, si James ang umalis ng bahay nila. Ayaw naman ni James. Sabi niya, bakit siya aalis gayong may ginastos din siya sa bahay nila. Ang hindi raw ma-take ni Kris, sumasagot na si James sa kanya ngayon. Hindi tulad noon na tahimik lang ito at sunud-sunuran sa kanya."

From Santa T. Desierto or STD: "The Kris-James marriage is doomed from the start as they are poles apart. In the first place, James is so much younger. Then Kris has a strong, domineering kind of personality that can intimidate any man, especially a pobreng promdi like James. At this point, Kris can no longer expect that any man will be serious with her. If ever, she’d just be a trophy girlfriend or wife, for display only. She’s not really a good wife material."

From Socielle Gucci Gang: "Nang makita ko pa lang noon saTV na si Kris pa ang siyang nagpunta sa probinsiya ni James para mamanhikan sa family ng lalaki, may feeling na akong hindi magtatagal ang marriage nila. James and family kasi live a very quiet life, but with Kris as the wife, they can never have a quiet life. Na siya na ngang nangyari. Ang bagay kasi kay Kris ay isang lalaking makakasuheto talaga sa kanya. Ang bagay naman kay James ay isang simpleng babae na salesgirl sa mall o kaya ay nagtitinda lang ng sampagita. O baka naman kaya nangyayari ito ay dahil hindi nagre-rate ang ‘Boy and Kris.’ Oras na naging topic nila diyan ang gulo sa marriage nila ni James, tiyak na mapapataob nila sa ratings ang programng Kapuso. Talagang may cycle si Kris sa mga lalaki niya, parang designer clothes or bags na pinagsasawaan niya after a while.Ang kawawa lang ay ang mga bata, lalo na si Joshua na kahit hindi tunay na anak ni James ay inari niyang parang kanya. Wawa naman."

Sarah Geronimo has done films before like "Lastikman," but "A Very Special Love" is definitely her biggest assignment so far. She’s paired with John Lloyd Cruz, with whom she earlier did an episode in "Maalaala Mo Kaya" that rated well.

"At first, I was afraid, kasi identified nga siyawith Bea Alonzo at baka hindi tanggapin na ipapareha siya sa akin," she says. "But then, ang ganda ng naging feedback sa MMK episodenamin, so it was even replayed. Actually, bago pa lang ako sa showbiz, dream ko ng ano kaya’t maging leading lady ako ni John Lloyd balang araw. O, heto, nagkatotoo na. First sa TV and now sa movie. Kung minsan nga, parang hindi pa ko makapaniwalang magkapareha na kami rito sa ‘Very Special Love.’ And I’m really thankful tinanggap niyang makapareha niya ako."

How does she feel that some quarters are threatening to boycott their movie as they want John Lloyd to be paired only with Bea?

"Nilinaw na yan ng fans nila, hindi raw totoo ‘yan. Sabi pa nga ng fans ng love team nila ni Bea, susuportahan daw nila kami, so walang problema. And I wish bigyan naman sana nila ng chance ang movie namin as we’re really doing our bestpara mapaganda ito. May maganda rin ito’t inspiring na message, which is never give up. Lalo na where your love life is concerned. When you really love someone, go for it. For all you know, naghihintay rin lang siya for you to make the first move."

When it comes to her own love life, writers who attended the presscon of "A Very Special Love" noticed that Sarah is so uptight about it. At 20, she insists she’s not ready to fall in love yet. At one point, when some writers were teasing her and John Lloyd saying "Uy! Uy!" Sarah said: "’Yang uy, uy n’yo, walang maidudulot na maganda ‘yan."

"Ayaw makisakay," as one newshen put it. "Whereas si Lloydie, when asked kung he’d fall for Sarah kung wala siyanggirlfriend, agad sumagot ng yes."

"Ang problema kay Sarah," adds another writer, "wala siyang kalibog-libog. Kung lalaki ka, hindi ka maeelya."

But she’s being sold as a wholesome star, we remark.

"Still, kailangan may pino-project ka pa ring kahit konting libog," they insist.

Isn’t the director of "A Very Special Love," Cathy Garcia Molina, scared that this might end up like "Dreamboy" when Bea was paired with Piolo Pascual, which was clobbered at the box office by Richard Gutierrez’ movie?

"I want to think positive that it will not end up like that," says the director. "Basta we’re doing our best para mapaganda ang pelikula at masiyahan lahat ng manonood nito."

Angel Locsin must be very special for Folded and Hung. Claudine Barretto and Maja Salvador are also endorsers of this clothing line but they were never given the grand launching that was accorded to Angel at a fashion show in Trinoma last Saturday. "There’s no doubt about Angel’s capability to be the face of Folded & Hung," says company president Ronald Pineda. "Her wholesome and appealing personality exudes an effortless sense of sensuality as well, which is what we look for in our endorser."

"I’m very happy ako ang pinagkatiwalaan nila," says Angel. "Talagang fabulous ang kanilang outfits at versatile. Kung gusto kong sexy or elegant, puedeng-puede as there are so many styles and designs to choose from."

Angel strikes a daring pose in their billboard, going topless with only an arm covering her chest. "When they asked me to do that, at first,na-tense ako as I’m not used to doing it. But then, I thought, why not? Siguro nga it’s time for me to be more daring."

Is this her way of eclipsing Claudine and Maja as F&H models? "Ay, walang ganung issue. Each of us has her own thing to offer kaya kami kinuha ng F&H, kasi nga, magkakaiba kami. And please, hindi ko sila sinulot, ha. Bale tatlo kaming F&H endorsers. Dinagdag lang ako rito."

Would she be annoyed if Marian Rivera would really be the number in the Sexiest Woman poll of FHM?

"Naging Sexiest Woman na ako diyan and I can say diyan ako nag-start kaya I’m really thankful to FHM. Hindibig issue for me kung iba naman ang tanghalin ngayon. But I just want to thank all those who voted for me."

Her soap with Piolo Pascual, "Lobo," is about to end. "I’m so happy with it kasi lahat ng nanonood say gandang-ganda sila. Somehow, it’s sad nga na patapos na siya, but it’s one show na kahitmany years na ang nakalipas, masasabi kong proud akong nagawa ko siya."

An expert on infidelity, director Maryo delos Reyes is noted for films like "Sinungaling Mong Puso," "Sa Ngalan ng Pag-ibig," "Laman," "My Other Woman." Why is this so?

"Let’s just say hindi na infidelity ang focusko kundi relationships, lalo ‘yung may mga kagat sa puso," he says. "Ang dami ng gumagawa ng sweet romantic films, ‘di ba? Dito na ko sa movies na mas maraming mahuhugot na raw emotions. Even in ‘Sa Paraiso ni Efren,’ one of my most acclaimed films, hindi naman ‘yung pangangaliwa ni Efren ang issue kundi the relationships he had with both women and men. My latest movie naman, ‘Torotot,’ is about infidelity that leads to a crime of passion. It’s about two married couples. Maui Taylor is married to Baron Geisler, while Precious Adona is married to Yul Servo. ‘Yung mga babae ang parehong mangangaliwa. Si Maui kay Andrew Schimmer and si Precious, kay Anton Bernardo. One husband resorts to violent means and kills his wife, pero hindi ko sasabihin kung sino. You have to watch the movie to find out."

He has worked with his ward, Yul, several times before. It’s his first time to work with Maui, Precious and Baron. How is it?

"Si Precious, pasable na for someone who just faced the camera for the first time. What’s nice with her is she is serious with her craft. Maui delivers, but she has to be pushed a little more. As for Baron, he’s one character to behold. At one point, nagalit ako at binato ko siya ng silya kasi nag-i-improvise siya on his own, e nasisira ang sequencing ko ng shots. Actually, gusto ko siyang maidirek in a vehicle about a bad boy whose life turns around because of a child."

After "Torotot," he’s directing another film for the outfit of Albert Martinez, "Rosario." Once again, it’s about infidelity. He wants to get Bea Alonzo in the role of a young woman who cheated on her husband in the 1920s and was sued for adultery, becoming a celebrated case in that era.

I think Inaki is gay kasi nang mag-pole dancing sila, aba, mas mahusay pa siyang mag-pole dancing kaysa sa mga babaeng scholars. Bading siya, mga ate, maniwala kayo!"

This is an email from Tess Q. from the US: "I’m a subscriber of both TFC and GMA Pinoy TV. I’m watching more of GMA shows na as I’ve noticed that at TFC, most of the shows I enjoy watching are not being replayed. What they keep on replaying is ‘Wowowee.’ I think they show it ten times in one day and it’s so long so they don’t get to show other programs anymore. I like ‘My Girl’ very much, but when you miss it, there’s no replay. I also love ‘Your Song’ now with Angelica Panganiban but the show is aired at 2 a.m. I want to request ABS to lessen the replays of ‘Wowowee’ on TFC and show more replays of their teleseryes. GMA has a better system with their replays as you can watch their soap in the afternoon and also in the evening. Then on Saturday, they offer marathon viewing and show five episodes in one blow so if you’ve missed any of the daily episodes, you can watch it on weekends. This works well especially for viewers like us who are out working on weekdays."

The story that Diana Zubiri left her swimsuit in Marvin Agustin’s home in White Plains has resulted in some speculations. Diana said she asked Marvin to return it but he won’t. Some writers say that maybe Marvin is using it to turn himself on. "Baka inaamoy-amoy ni Marvin gabi-gabi bago siya matulog at magpaligaya ng sarili," adds one writer. But still another writer has a different idea: "Baka ‘yun na ang isinusuot ni Marvin kapag nagsu-swimming siya sa pool nila."

What does Marvin feel about this? "Wala, I just laugh it off," he says with a shrug. "Bahala na silang isipin kung ano ang gusto nilang isipin. Alam ko naman, biru-biruan lang ‘yun. I told Diana namanthat she can come anytime to get the swimsuit. Or she can come visit us again and have another swim in our pool kasi kasundo naman niya ang mommyko. Basta ako, happy with the way my career is going now. Dapat nga, I’ll be taking a vacation in Europe after ‘Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita’ endedkasi sunod-sunod yung shows na ginawa ko, ‘di ba? From ‘Asian Treasures’ and ‘MariMar’ then ‘Babangon.’ E, kaso, dumating nga itong ‘Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan,’ kaya siempre, forget European vacation muna at i-prioritize ang trabaho. Ang Europe naman, nandiyan lang, puedeng puntahan anytime. Pero ang trabaho, kung tatanggihan ko, baka magtampo at hindi na bumalik uli. So, work muna tayo."

How did he feel when he had to reshoot all his scenes with Sunshine Dizon, this time with Camille Prats?

"Well, ganun talaga. Nangyayari ‘yung unexpected things like that. Hindi maiiwasan, so we have to just go with the flow.Sa’kin naman, I took it as an opportunity para mas ma-improve ko pa ang acting ko in the scenes that we have already shot before."

After Pauleen Luna and Angel Locsin, he’s now being linked to Diana. Is he really courting her? "Sino ba naman ang hindi mai-in love kay Diana, e mabait na, sexy at maganda pa. Enjoy talaga kami with each other’s company."

So has he introduced Diana to his twin sons?

"No. Actually, I haven’t introduced anyone to them as my new girl. Ayoko silang ma-confuse as of now dahil masyado pang bata. Saka na lang."

How about Diana? What are the chances of Marvin in case he seriously courts her?

"Hindi po ako nagsasalita ng tapos but, as of now, kung makikipagrelasyon uli ako, ayoko ng may sabit, ‘yung may anak. Kasi nangyari na yan noong kay Vhong Navarro. Galing na ako sa ganun at mahirap talaga. Siempre, kung girl ka, gusto mo, ikaw ang priority ng magiging boyfriend mo, ‘di ba? Ang isang guy na walang ibang sabit can give you his 100%. But I’m not closing my doors. Baka sabihin kong walang chance sa’kin si Marvin, tapos, kainin ko pala ang salita ko."

The digital movie "Kambyo" is about gays but its five stars claim that they are all straight. One of them is Kenji Garcia, who played the title role in the hit flick "Lihim ni Antonio" as a gay teenager who has an affair with his own uncle, Josh Morales. There was a scene there where he’s holding the manhood of Josh, how did he feel about it?

"Wala po, trabaho lang," he says. "It’s my cousin, Katrina Paula, who told me they’re holding an audition for that movie. E, gusto ko talaga mag-artista, so I tried it. Hindi ko naman alam na bading pala ang role na gagampanan ko. Tinanong ko ‘yung girlfriend ko, sabi niya, mag-try ako, so I did at ako ang nakuha. Alangan namang mag-inarte pa ako sa gay sex scenes, e ako na nga ang bida."

The youngest of three kids, his two older siblings are both married and he’s now the breadwinner.

"It’s hard kasi nag-aaral din po ako. I’m an HRM junior sa Meycauayan College. Ayokong sumuko kasi gusto ko talaga makatapos ng four-year course."

How did his classmates take his playing a gay role? "Okay lang kasi alam naman nilang lalaki talaga ko. Maski ang parents ko, when they saw the gay scenes I did, okay lang kasi part naman ng trabaho ko at ginawa ko lang ang required sa script."

In "Kambyo," he plays another gay role and is paired with Harold Macasero. "Pero wala po kaming love scene. Lighter po sa ‘Antonio’ itong ‘Kambyo.’ Sina Ray Dulay at John Tanada po ang nag-love scene dito."

"Kambyo" will open on July 9 at Robinsons Galleria.
