THE 9th installment of "Shake,Rattle and Roll" reels off on Christmas Day, another knock-out offering from Regal Entertainment. This is the longest movie installment in Philippine movies.

All the stars in these episodes are present for the pictorial shoot held at the Regal compound at Valencia. Black and red were the theme colors of the night.

We chanced upon Boots Anson-Roa who appears for the first time in the horror franchise as the mother of Gina Alajar. Years ago at Lea Productions, they played the same roles in "Wanted Perfect Mother. " Gina was a toddler then.

Their episode is entitled "Christmas Tree" which turns out to be a monster tree. It marks the directorial debut of Paul Daza and the rest of the cast includes John Prats, Tonton Gutierrez, Sophia Baars, Lovi Poe and Nash Aguas as the brave Stephen who will discover the mystery about the Christmas tree.

The second episode is "Bangungot" which is more of a drama love story starring Dennis Trillo, Pauleen Luna and Roxanne Guinoo. It is directed by Mike Tuviera.

Topel Lee megs "Engkanto" with young love-team Matt Evans and Melissa Ricks plus Mart Escudero minus Jennica Garcia (Jewel Mische takes her place as she was in the original cast), Katrina Halili and Sam Concepcion.

"Shake, Rattle & Roll" is the longest and the best running horror movie series that always have a ready slot come Christmas or Metro Manila festival time.

BOOTS HATES TO DISAPPOINT PEOPLE
ONE of the things Boots Anson-Roa is busy with is the Pete Roa Foundation which her children thought of after the death of their father. First on the agenda is a seminar for interested broadcast men and women. Most broadcasters especially the new ones are very visible and should therefore look good. An overweight or oversized broadcaster can easily turn off viewers. Familiarity with the subject matter is also a must. The seminar also welcomes old time broadcasters. Some sort of a refresher or review course.

Also in their agenda is staging a play on the life of Father Pio before the
year ends to benefit patients who suffered strokes. The fund-raising event will be directed by Nestor Torre.

Actors Johnny Delgado and Ricky Davao are being considered for the role of the priest known for his stigmata and miraculous deeds.

The workaholic Ms. Roa reports for work at the Mowelfund three times a week. She also teaches at the Ateneo University where Dingdong Dantes was once her student.

"Bilib ako sa batang 'yan. Kahit na kulang sa tulog at halos makatulog sa klase ay hindi pa rin mag-a-absent. I admire his determination in finishing a college course even if it takes him years," she said about Dingdong.

Boots is one actress who can't seem to say no to friends. It is not in her character to disappoint people especially those who need her services. She easily agreed to appear in an indie movie receiving no talent fee at all. It was her way of helping out new filmmakers who happened to be her students in the past.

One digital film she appeared in was "Ilusyon. " The actress got paid with a bottle of wine. Well, we hope it was not the cheap kind.

A SHOW AGAINST COSMETIC SURGERY

THERE is always something interesting to watch on the new channel for women called Velvet. The show "Say No To The Knife" is one of them. It taps into the nation's fascination with cosmetic surgery and delves into the lives of people who are desperate to look good.
