Marian Rivera is excited about Darna's amped up look

Marian Rivera can't help but rave about the new costume, new leading man, and everything that her new show Narda has to offer.

Last Monday, June 29, Marian Rivera finally donned the costume of Darna for the officially titled Narda TV series, and the feeling she probably had when she put on the iconic suit for the first time was nothing short of overjoyed. For her the experience was fun and gratifying at the same time.

"Ang sarap i-imagine na talagang ako si Darna," Marian shared in an interview with Startalk. "Iba kasi ang feeling pag naka-costume ka, e. Siyempre happy ako dahil pinagkatiwala sa akin ng management ang [Narda] at binigay nila ito sa akin."

The Darna costume had simple yet noticeable changes in it which gave the young actress her own identity with the role which had been played, of course, by legendary actresses like Vilma Santos. According to Marian, the costume had been revamped by adding more accessories and designs to it, from the top to the color of the "lampin," as Marian calls the trailing cloth in front of her pants, giving her that new, polished look that would probably make people say, "This is definitely something new."

Marian herself can hardly describe the vibes she feels whenever she puts on the costume and, by the way she describes the feeling, makes her very dedicated to the role. "Iba lahat, e," added Marian. "Halos lahat talaga iba. Kapag sinusuot ko itong helmet ko, e parang 'Wow!' nagtra-transform ako na parang nag-iiba. Iba talaga pag buo ang costume and feeling mo talaga na fight scene ito!"

NEW LEADING MAN. The success of the Dingdong Dantes-Marian Rivera team on the shows Marimar and Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang made people wonder if Marian could sustain interest without the assistance of Dingdong. When news about Darna came out, people speculated on who could possibly be a good candidate for Marian's leading man.

Well, along came Mark Anthony Fernandez and Marian herself was intrigued by what Mark's capabilities could be and how he would handle his new leading lady. In all of this, Marian feels positive though she admits, "Hindi ko siya kilala nang personal. Hindi pa kami nagkakaroon ng bonding moment."

How about Dingdong? Has anything changed with his absence?

"Siyempre nandito siya forever sa akin," smiled Marian. "Ganoon pa din, happy! Kung ano ang situation dati, ngayon ganoon pa din. Hanggang ngayon open kami palagi. Yan ang pinakaimportante sa lahat, ang trust."

Iwa Moto AND Katrina Halili. Iwa Moto has been chosen to play Darna's archenemy Valentina though news had it that the role was first offered to Katrina Halili. This whipped up rumors that Marian had something to do with who got the Valentina role. Did she actually tell management to offer the role to Iwa instead?

"Alam naman natin na magaling umarte si Iwa," Marian began. "Alam ko na malaki ang tiwala ko sa kanya na magagampanan niya talaga ang Valentina. Wala ako tinatanggi sa kahit sinong kasama ko o i-partner sa akin dahil artista lang naman ako. GMA-7 pa rin ang namimili kung sino makakasama ko."

SHOW OF SUPPORT FOR ROSALINDA'S Carla Abellana. Marian does not hide the fact that she is a big supporter of fellow Kapuso actress and newcomer Carla Abellana, because she sees herself in her. Like Carla, she was someone who was new to the industry and then suddenly offered a big, big break.

She added, "Alam ko feeling niya bilang baguhan. Nagbigay ako ng flowers sa kanya na para sabihan siya na congratulations at good luck sa show niya."
