Marian denies badmouthing Katrina

Katrina Halili met with GMA execs for her next project. She was asked if she’s interested to play Valentina to Marian Rivera’s Darna in the newest remake of "Darna" but we heard she begged off and chose to play the villain Fedra in "Rosalinda" where she’d support newcomer Carla Abellana. This is because some parties told her that Marian, on the set of her new horror flick, "Tarot," said that her involvement in the sex video scandal is shameful so she should no longer be given any show on GMA. But naturally, Katrina now is sore at Marian becausae she really wanted to play Valentina in "Darna."

Marian’s camp vehemently denies the story. Her manager, Popoy Caritativo, says Marian never said anything negative against Katrina. And we remember that at the fashion show of Jag Black, when asked about Katrina playing Valentina, Marian even said that she welcomes havingKatrina in "Darna" as they’ve worked before in "Marimar." She feels Katrina will be great in the role of the Snake Woman who’s Darna’s foremost adversary. Marian also said that she sympathizes with Kat totally and she has already texted Kat to say that she needs to be strong. "May nang-iintriga lang para pag-awayin sila at sana, hindi basta maniwala si Katrina at i-verify muna niya kung totoong may mga sinabi laban sa kanya si Marian," adds Popoy. "Sobrangbusy si Marian ngayon sa shooting niya ng ‘Tarot’ in Tanay at sa regular training niya for ‘Darna’ na naka-harnesssiya kaya wala siyang time manira ng iba."

We heard GMA is now planning a meeting between Marian and Katrina for them to settle things and avoid any further misunderstanding.

Now that his ex-wife Michelle van Eimeren is getting married anew to Aussie boyfriend Mark Murrow in November, writers asked Ogie Alcasid if he’s also planning his own wedding with Regine Velasquez soon. "Sorry it’s not that easy as we still have to wait for the annulment munaof my marriage here in our own country," says Ogie, who’s now shooting two movies at the same time, "Oh My Girl" with Judy Ann Santos (the shooting of which is being delayed since Juday is said to be having a hard time with her schedule these days) and the comedy with Michael V. which might be titled "Spoiled Brat" or "Whatever, Yaya" (which might be completed ahead of "Oh My Girl").

But Ogie has no objections at all about Michelle walking down the aisle with Mark, who came here to Manila last September with Michelle and their two daughters to watch Ogie’s concert at the Big Dome.He even thanked Mark during the show for being a good step-dad to his kids. We’re sure Ogie and Regine will be invited to the wedding as they’re one big happy family.

After "Ngayon at Kailanman" of Sharon Cuneta replaced "Paano Ba ang Mangarap?" on GMA-7’s Dramarama sa Hapon, yet another Sharon flick replaced "Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin?" (which was also a Sharon-starrer), "Kung Aagawin Mo ang Lahat sa Akin," proving that old Sharon flicks continue to resonate with today’s audiences. Starring in "Kung Aagawin" are Maxene Magalona (who also starred in another Sharon remake, "Una Kang Naging Akin") and Glaiza de Castro (who herself has starred in the TV remake of Sharon’s "Kaputol ng Isang Awit").

Maxene recreates Sharon’s role, Maureen, the oppressed adopted sister. Glaiza reprises the role originally played by Jackielou Blanco as Gladys. Jackie herself is in the remake playing the role of Clara, the mother, originally portrayed by Laurice Guillen. At the presscon, scenes from the series were shown and we notice that Glaiza plays the villain role of Gladys with so much flair and intensitythat she truly stands out in all her scenes. If Maxene wouldn’t watch out, Glaiza might just steal the show from her. Why did Glaiza accept this contravida role when she was already the lead in "Kaputol"?

"GMA experiments with their artists and siguro, they say nakaganap na ako nang babaeng mahirap at inaapi, so this time, gawin naman akong mayamang nang-aapi," she says. "It’s nice to know they trust me well enough na kaya kong gumanap ng iba’t ibang klaseng roles. What’s nice about my role here is hindi lang siya basta contravida. Meron din siyang puso at lalim, and that’s what I want viewers to see."

Supporting them are Jackie Rice (as another sister whose character is not in the original film), Nonie Buencamino as their dad, Rich Asuncion, Jace Flores and Joanne Quintas. Patrick Garcia and JC Tiuseco are their leading men. It starts airing this afternoon.

We attended the meaningful eulogy that the Professional Artist Managers Inc. (PAMI)gave to their first chairman, Douglas Quijano, last Thursday night. It was a star-studded affair. Present were Gov. Vilma Santos, Mother Lily Monteverde, Susan Roces and her daughter Grace Llamanzares and niece Sheryl Cruz, Maricel Soriano, Richard Gomez and Lucy Torres, Aga Muhlach and Charlene Gonzales, Gretchen Barretto and Nadia Montenegro (TV crews quickly gathered they kissed and made up as it’s the first time they saw each other after their much-publicized feud), Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes, Tirso Cruz and wife Lyn Ynchausti,Joey Marquez, Gelli de Belen, John Estrada, Maricar de Mesa and cager hubby Don Allado, Christian Vasquez and others.

Pops Fernandez sang "Paano Kita Pasasalamatan," Tirso sang "Bridge Over Troubled Water," and Erik Santos, "Hindi Kita Malilimutan." Manay Lolit Solis paid a funny but touchingtribute to Douglas, who was the one who enticed her to leave the police beat and join the showbiz press, revealing that Douglas even had a girlfriend when she first met him in 1968.

The end of the Holy Mass saw the other talent managers like June Torrejon, Ethel Ramos, Annabelle Rama, Shirley Kuan, Manny Valera, Ed Instrella, and others going to the remains of Douglas and giving him a red rose each. Movie writers present were Ricky Lo, Nora Calderon, Ronald Constantino,Shirley Pizarro, Salve Asis, Lea Salterio, Nitz Miralles, Ricky Calderon, Francis Simeon, Pilar Mateo, Wilson Lee Flores, and Douglas’ confidante Ces Evangelista.

Douglas’ remains were cremated last Saturday.

We told Gov. Vilma Santos that we saw some scenes of her new movie, "In My Life," and she seems to be enjoying playing her offbeat character to the hilt as a school librarian who loves to dance. She reminds us of Manny Pacquiao’s mom. "’Yun nga ang sabi nila," she says. "Mga 20% na lang ang isu-shoot at matatapos na kami. We have a September playdate. Enjoy ako doing this movie, with our director Olive Lamasan, my son Luis and with John Lloyd Cruz. It’s actually light. May drama, but as a whole, nakakatuwa siya. Maraming magagandang eksenang may puso."

As much as possible, she doesn’t want to talk politics.

"One year pa bago mag-election. Basta priority ko pa rin ang Batangas. First term ko pa lang naman as governor. I owe it sa mga taga-Batangas na paglingkuran ko muna sila."
