| Marian reveals real reason of breakup with bfAuthor: Mario E. Bautista THEIR love scenes in "Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang" look so hot and realistic that people refuse to believe that they're not on in real life. "That can only mean na magaling kaming artista," says Dingdong Dantes. "Kaya nagiging very convincing ang mga eksenang ginagawa namin," adds Marian. They sure look like they do it with feelings and people say they obviously now have romantic feelings for each other. "May feelings naman kami talaga sa isa't isa kasi araw-araw kaming magkasama," says Dingdong. "Pero kung those feelings will develop into something deeper, hindi pa natin alam, and we're not discounting the possibility that it might happen kasi, wala namang masama, pareho kaming unattached as of now. " "As of now, we just enjoy the moment," says Marian. "Open kami sa anumang puwedeng mangyari so, tingnan na lang natin, di ba? Kahit sino namang babae, puwedeng ma-in love kay Dingdong dahil he has such good qualities. Pero ayaw namin parehong madaliin o magpa-pressure lalo na pinipilit kami laging aminin na kami na nga. Ayoko nga noong parang dinidiktahan kami. " "Mas mabuti talaga if we'd just let it develop naturally," says Dingdong. "Tutal naman, wala nang barriers in us having a relationship, so we don't discount that possibility na puwedeng maging kami nga. But it's not good to rush a relationship. Better to let it grow at its own pace. Kung darating 'yung point na kami na nga, then let it come naturally and it'll be something even more beautiful. " Is there no effort on the part of Marian's ex-BF Ervic Vijandre to win her back? "Tama na. Naghiwalay naman kami nang maayos. It's not true na si Dingdong ang pinagselosan niya. What he didn't like is me posing for a sexy calendar for Ginebra. Ayaw niyang pumayag, e hindi naman masyadong sexy ang pose ko. Two weeks namin 'yung pinag-awayan. I felt na hindi pa nga kami kasal, pinagbabawalan na ako sa takbo ng career ko. Nakipag-break muna ako before I accepted the calendar offer. " P2-M ACTORS Gerald Anderson and Jake Cuenca won P2 million in "Kapamilya Deal Or No Deal. " Since they star in the hit series "Tayong Dalawa," host Kris Aquino told them the P2 million win is just perfect for them and they are also the 20th millionaire winners in the show. Gerald and Jake showed they have good team work and they were supported by other ABS young actors who rooted for them while they were playing, like Joross Gamboa, Mikee Lee, Fred Payawan, Kian Kazemi, Joaqui Mendoza, Alex Anselmuccio, and John James Uy. Both Gerald and Jake were confident with their choices as so many good things have been happening to them lately, including "Tayong Dalawa" being a toprater. KRISTEL READY TO TRAIL ALMA BETTY La Fea mainstay Kristel Moreno turned 18 on Jan. 14. "My aunt, Alma Moreno, hosted a debut for me at the Manila Pavillion Ballroom," she says. "Pero simple lang siya, no cotillion. My friends from 'Betty La Fea' and my batchmates sa Star Circle 16 came to celebrate with me. But the best gift I got was to see my dad again. " Her dad is imprisoned in Davao due to a drug-related case and he was allowed to come to Manila to attend Kristel's debut. "But it's a temporary permit lang. We're praying now na sana, mabigyan na siya ng permanent pardon. " So what happens to her character in "Betty La Fea" who's got body odor? "Magpapagamot na siya to lessen her bad smell. I'm happy with 'Betty' dahil dito ako nakilala ng viewers. Viewers should watch the next episodes kasi kami lahat sa Ecomoda think na patay na si Betty and it turns out stranded lang pala siya in an island. " Is she ready to go sexy like her aunt? "Yes. Nang pasukin ko ang showbiz, talagang inihanda ko na ang sarili ko for sexy roles, basta maganda lang ang material. " MORE HAIR-RAISING STUNTS THE 7TH Eliminado from Pinoy Fear Factor: Argentina is the "kargador" from Tondo, RJ Calipus, who was shown being ousted last Friday. In the first stunt where he lost, they were required to be placed inside a glass coffin submerged in icy waters. His rivals SuperManuel and Savanah clocked in at 26 seconds each. Janna Dominguez was the highest pointer at 42 seconds while RJ quit playing after only 24 seconds. After this, they were placed inside the Box Of Terror where they lied down in a box with three sections filled with rats, snakes, or frogs. They have to move as many creatures as they can into a fish tank next to the Box of Terror within three minutes. Both Manuel and Janna were able to transfer all the 15 frogs required of them, Savahan transferred 12 frogs and RJ, 13. The third stunt, Circuit with Explosions, require the participants to go through a circuit in a giant wire loop that can trigger explosions. SuperManueldid the job in 1 minute 28 seconds. RJ was the lowest pointer so he was sent back home to Manila. He was interviewed in "The Buzz" last Sunday and he said he's considering joining showbiz. There are now only five remaining participants: SuperManuel, Marion, Jommy, Savanah and Janna. This week, they'll be subjected to a stunt where they will be tied to a horse which will then drag them through muddy fields. "Pinoy Fear Factor" airs Monday to Friday night after "Eva Fonda" with a special summary on Saturdays at 7 p. m. on Studio 23. MILESTONE CONGRATULATIONS to GMA-7 PR head Angel Javier who's currently busy with the promo of "When I Met U" and new shows "Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang" and "My Dad is Better than Your Dad". She just tied the knot with Dodie Cruz in Guam. She now has the same family name as long time GMA PR girl Jhops who's married to "24 Oras" reporter Ian Cruz. Is it true that Angel is now also infanticipating? Our best wishes. MILK: SUCCESSFULLY CROSSES THE LINE CURRENTLY nominated as best picture in the Oscars, "Milk" is a docu-drama on the first flamboyantly gay man to be elected into public office in the States: Harvey Milk. In telling his filmbio, Director Gus Van Sant ("Good Will Hunting") makes use of many 70s stock footage that lends much credibility to the proceedings. The opening scenes show archival footage of crackdowns on gay bars with arrested men covering their faces with their hands at a time when homosexuality was seen as enough reason to trample on a person's human rights. Milk (Sean Penn) is an insurance broker in New York who, upon turning 40, laments that he has done nothing to be proud of in his life. He and his lover, Scott Smith (James Franco), then relocate to San Francisco in Castro St. , now known as a gay district. They pool their savings and open a camera store. The other businesses in the area are hostile to gays and Milk becomes an activist campaigning for gay and lesbian rights. He gains a lot of gay followers and gets tagged as the Mayor of Castro St. When someone asks him to rally the gay community to boycott a brand of beer, he makes sure it disappears from all the bars in their area and shows that he now has political clout. He gets the support of other activists and acquires a political base. He becomes instrumental in turning around the life of a teen hustler, Cleve Jones (Emile Hirsch, "Speed Racer"), who becomes a devoted friend and an effective organizer. His lover leaves him in 1977 and he takes in a Mexican guy, Jack Lira (Diego Luna), a high maintenance and needy lover who has such wild tantrums. He stands his ground against homophobic pop singer Anita Bryant who wants to deny anti-discriminatory rights to homosexuals. Milk runs for public office several times but fails to win, until he finally wins as Supervisor in 1977 for the new zone, District 5. His election to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors meant the liberalization of local politics. He then works tirelessly for the rights of all, homosexual or heterosexual, making significant inroads into the conservative city and state politics. He tries to coordinate his efforts with those of another newly elected supervisor, Dan White (Josh Brolin), a former cop and fireman who becomes envious because his causes don't receive the kind of support given to Milk. Milk soon becomes involved in what becomes known as Proposition 6, a referendum meant to allow school boards to fire gay teachers. He wins in his struggle but soon gets assassinated by White at the age of 48. What's admirable about Gun Sant's film is that it isn't just a pretentious piece of pro-gay propaganda or a fawning tribute to a gay hero. He imbues Milk and the other characters with humanity and personality. Milk fights against intolerance and bigotry, and he does this by humanizing the targets that self appointed bulwarks of society try to demonize. In this sense, he is a civil rights champion who, any minority group fighting for equal rights (regardless of religion or race or gender) can sympathize with. Milk's triumph is that of an underdog fighting the prejudices of society. Sean Penn is currently nominated as Oscar best actor and we won't be surprised if he'd win his second academy award (after "Mystic River") as he totally disappears into the role of Milk, capturing it to perfection through a subtle, nuanced portrayal that makes him a hero we root for. Giving superlative support is Josh Brolin who's nominated as best supporting actor for his portrayal of the troubled Dan White. Take note that he's not just presented here as a monster but his character is also fleshed out. White shot both Milk and San Francisco Mayor George Moscone at City Hall. He was convicted for manslaughter only, not murder, after the so-called Twinkie defense where his lawyer blames his faulty diet. Also excellent are James Franco as the supportive lover/best friend, Alison Pill as the lesbian Anne Kronenberg who becomes Milk's campaign manager, and Emile Hirsch who's unrecognizable as Milk's protegee. Production values are splendid, particularly the cinematography by Harris Savides who gives it an authentic period feel and the period design by Bill Groom that captures the protest scenes that changed San Francisco in the 70s. Fans of the "High School Musical" series might be pleased to know that Lucas Grabeel (the choreographer in the film series) is also cast in the movie playing documentor/activist Danny Nicoletta who works for Milk. Comparisons with previous gay films can't be avoided. "Philadelphia" was quite political but there's not a single moment of physical intimacy between Tom Hanks and lover Antonio Banderas. "Brokeback Mountain" has intimate scenes between Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal but is more of drama avoiding anything political. "Milk" has both politics and drama, and Sean Penn does not hesitate to do kissing scenes with his co-stars. To top it all, it is a true story. Source: People's Journal |
