Marian's dad unaware of her status

THE minute Marian Rivera flashes her sweet smile, changes that she is "suplada" or "plastikada" are suddenly erased. She completely overwhelmed us over lunch at Via Mare last weekend.

To begin with, she is the most visible face on television and print as endorser of more than 20 products. And Marian said she uses all of them. Even Matador? we asked. "For social reasons, I sip brandy which is good for one's health dahil nakabubuti ito sa ating blood circulation," she replied.

With the huge income Marian is getting from these endorsements, she need not work so hard and tape three times a week for a teleserye. She is currently seen in "Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang," a Carlo J. Caparas creation adapted for television by GMA7.

"Kung hindi naman po sa mga teleseryeng aking ginawa eh hindi ko mararating ang kinalalagyan ko ngayon. At kung hindi nag-rate ang mga ito ay walang magkakamaling kumuha sa akin to endorse these products. Everything I achieved now ay resulta ng hardwork at sacrifices," she explains.

Did you expect that you will be as hot and popular as you are today?

"Honestly, hindi po. Ang tanging pangarap ko noon ay maging isang commercial model. Nang pasukin ko ang showbusiness ay hindi ko inambisyon ang sumikat nang husto. Happy ako na makita ang sarili na umaarte at napapanood. Happy ako ngayon to know na maraming tao akong napapaligaya sa panonood nila ng teleseryeng nilalabasan namin ni Dingdong (Dantes). What new challenges does your new teleserye, "Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang" bring? Which among the teleseryes you have appeared in is the most difficult?

"Lahat naman ay may kanya-kanyang challenges. Nahirapan ako physically sa Dyesebel dahil sa may suot akong buntot. Nang makagamayan ko na eh di na ako nahirapan. I had fun doing Marimar because I love to dance. As Proserfina in my new teleserye ay kinailangan kong mag-action at maging kalog. I am also a mysterious woman here, a street-smart, naughty and feisty. "

One should always bear in mind that Marian's character is a sexy one which she exudes in real life. Her oozing sex appeal will change the dull, boring life of the wealthy and handsome Homer, played by Dingdong. The opening scene of "Ang Babaing Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang" showed Dingdong's anatomy while taking a shower. Wait till you see Marian in similar state of undress in the forthcoming episodes.

Carlo J. Caparas known for being very vocal when it comes to wrong choices of stars to portray his famous characters was not surprised that Proserfina was entrusted into the hands of Marian. He was heard to remark, "Bakit, meron pa bang iba?"

We learned that Marian is the only child born to her Spanish dad and Pinay mom. Both her father and mother have their respective families now. She maintains an open communication to both of them.

Her father who resides in Spain has no idea on how popular Marian is in the Philippines. "Ang alam lamang niya eh lumalabas ako sa telebisyon," she remarks.

Marian finished Psychology at De la Salle University, something which could be useful to her in analyzing people especially those who pass judgment on her.

Marian doesn't believe in the prediction that 2009 will see her downfall. "Nasa Diyos ang awa, nasa tao ang gawa. Ito ang pinapaniwalaan ko. Katunayan, nag-renew pa nga ang mga produktong aking pino-promote. I am just a human being at umaalma ako kung sa tingin ko ay below the belt ang paninirang ginagawa sa akin. They picture me as an ultimate pasaway. I honestly don't consider myself as one. Trait po ng mga Cavitena in general ang kataasan ng tono ng boses kapag nagsasalita. Parang suplada at humahanap ng kaaway. Iyong karakter na ginagampanan ko sa "Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang" ay parang isang Cavitena kaya feel na feel ko. Napakasarap pong paglaruan. ," she admits.

Meanwhile, Marian and Dingdong left for Guam last weekend to appear as special guests in the Valentine show topbilled by Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid. It was a request both cannot turn down it would allow the two hottest stars to recharge.

TACTLESS EXEC, GREAT ENDORSER
IT was a day of great enthusiasm and high hopes for Ever Bilena and SBP knowing that such partnership would further promote sportsmanship and good health among the members of the National Junior Women's Basketball Team. The contract begun on Feb. 1, and ends on January 31, 20l2.

Mr. Diocedo S. Sy, president and CEO of Ever Bilena Cosmetics signed the contract with Mr. Manuel V. Pangilinan, SBP president and Governor Oscar Moreno, SBP Chairman at PLDT office, Cojuangco Bldg. Makati.

By the way, Ever Bilena has a new endorser in the person of Sarah Geronimo whom we admired so much in more than promoting the beauty product during the launch held at Annabel's. She obliged by singing three songs to everybody's delight, the whole affair turned out to be a mini-concert.

Yes, the product suits Sarah's lifestyle. Haven't you noticed that her natural beauty shines even more after applying Billena?

Some intrigues were thrown in when a tactless spokesperson from Ever Bilena said that Sarah was chosen to endorse the product because their former endorser has already matured. The word mature was taken to mean matanda na or laos .

A male executive quickly explained that the company follows a certain age level in choosing their endorser. Sarah no doubt, fits the criteria.

Alas, the female exec made hirit again by saying that they would monitor every write-up that would come out and slyly hinted bribery or pakimkim. Figure that out.
