Martin Nievera hospitalized after concert

MANILA - "Concert King" Martin Nievera was rushed to the Makati Medical Center shortly after his sold-out "As One" concert with Gary Valenciano Saturday night.

The singer-songwriter was brought to the hospital around 11:30 p.m. after he reportedly suffered exhaustion during the concert.

Watching over Nievera are his sons Robin and Ram. "Mr. Pure Energy" Valenciano was also present at the hospital to check on the Concert King's condition.

"Conscious [naman siya]... Ito at binabantayan ng kanyang mga anak, sina Robin at Ram. First time daw itong nangyari sa kanya," said "As One" project director Ronnie Henares

He said everything looked normal during the concert as the singer was energetically performing in front of the crowd. Nievera, however, was reportedly seen drinking water often during the show.

Nievera began to complain of dizziness towards the end of the concert, prompting organizers to forgo their closing Earth, Wind and Fire medley. He was taken to the hospital an hour after the show.

Henares assured fans that Nievera is now in stable condition.

In fact, they will be pushing through with Nievera's concert shows in the US and Canada.

Among those who attended the "As One" concert were Toni Gonzaga, Paul Soriano, Shaina Magdayao, Verni Varga, Karylle and "Divine Diva" Zsa Zsa Padilla, who were all amazed by the performances of music icons Nievera and Valenciano. - With a report from Ryan Chua, ABS-CBN News
