Kristine Hermosa, alluring than ever with her 22-inch waist, brings to life again the well-loved big-screen character of Maruja in the ABS-CBN retelling of the tragic story, given a new twist, in Komiks Presents Mars Ravelo’s Nasaan Ka Maruja? This Saturday primetime series, which starts on May 2, brings back Kristine to the small screen after a period of absence, with Derek Ramsay and John Estrada as co-stars. As to be expected, the reappearance revives old issues such as her past and present heart squeezes Jericho Rosales, Diether Ocampo and Oyo Sotto.

“Sobrang ibang-iba na siya ngayon,” Kristine laughs, telling about meeting Jericho, her first showbiz boyfriend, again after a time. “Napakainglesero na niya! Tinatanong ko nga siya, ‘Ikaw pa ba yan?’”

When asked if there’s a possibility she will be in love again with Jericho Rosales when they team up in an upcoming primetime drama series, she says, “Hindi ko naman sinasarado ang pintuan ko sa ganoong possibility. Kung ibibigay sa akin ang gan’un na pagkakataon ulit, tatanggapin ko.”

“Iba si Diet,” Kristine emphasizes when asked if other guys she has fallen in love with have surpassed Diether’s love. She adds, “Hindi ko siya puwede ikumpara sa iba. Nasa ibang level ‘yung relationship namin at masasabi ko na malalim din talaga ‘yung pinagsamahan namin.”

“Wala pa...wala pa akong masasabi tungkol sa aming dalawa,” Kristine answers when asked what’s the real score between her and Oyo Sotto. She adds, “I consider him as one of my best friends. Basta ang alam ko mahal niya ako at mahal ko rin siya bilang isang matalik na kaibigan. Siya ang tao na umaalalay sa akin noong panahon na down ako.”

She says they are not officially on, explaining, “Kung mangyayari ‘yun, mangyayari talaga.” - With reports from Justin Mata

Jessica Simpson turns into a major movie star

Singer-actress and blonde bombshell Jessica Simpson goes from A-list star to an enlisted movie star in the new film Major Movie Star to open at your favorite theaters starting May 6 from Viva International Pictures.

In this showbiz comedy, Jessica plays Megan Valentine, a ditzy movie star. But her latest movie is a flop, and a crooked accountant has left her broke. So she’s doing what anyone else would do — joining the Marines. Now, there’s no star treatment, no stunt doubles and no second takes. But with the help of other recruits, she’ll find the motivation she needs to be all she can be and make it through basic training… with style.

She is ultimately assigned to the USO and goes on tour, entertaining the troops around the world. During her travels, she learns that her Marine friends who were assigned to help with a hurricane effort are stranded, with no help at hand. Since no other troops are there, she affects their rescue. Now they come to see Megan as a new person, not the spoiled and privileged girl they believed her to be. Megan and Evans finally kiss. However, he soon breaks the news that he is being sent overseas. She promises to wait for him.

Directed by Steve Miner, Major Movie Star also stars Vivica A. Fox, Steve Guttenberg, Olesya Rulin, Cheri Oteri and Jill Marie Jones.

Kambal sa Uma, winner!

Kambal sa Uma, based on the komiks series authored by Jim Fernandez, is primetime stuff in non-primetime slot! Its attention-grabbing story is told in fast pacing and believable realism through “non-acting” acting mostly by seasoned actors and “organic” production design. The linear storytelling is clear, and the narrative builds tension without the usually cloying melodrama. If quality is maintained all throughout the series’ run, Kambal sa Uma has just upped the standard of the afternoon drama series to full-length feature kind. The series’ first salvo is said to have a make-or-break effect, and it is without doubt that Kambal sa Uma made it as a winner on preem day.

Romancing Valerie

“Probably in five years,” Valerie Concepcion says during the Precious Hearts Romances (PHR) when asked when she plans to answer suitor, SMB cager Dondon Hontiveros. They have been dating for two years now. As she’s a single parent, Valerie is being really careful about her romantic relationship because she got badly burned with the last one. Quite obviously, she likes Dondon. Mom Mayet likes him too for being kind, understanding and supportive. But talent manager Becky Aguila has still to meet him.

Valerie is paired with Will Devaughn in the initial offering of PHR Presents the Bud Brothers series, written by Rose Tan, known to romance readers for her remarkable brand of humor and wit. PHR is the phenomenal Filipino pocketbook romances that everybody love to read. Now, it can be seen on TV starting May! The Bud Brothers series revolves around the college fraternity brothers who put up their business, the Bud Brothers Flower Farm, and the quirky yet gorgeous women these men will fall for.

Heading the love teams is sweet and sexy couple Cristine Reyes and Jake Cuenca. The PHR pairs to look forward to include Rafael Rosell and Mariel Rodriguez, Will and Valerie, Joem Bascon and Wendy Valdez, Ahron Villena and Maricar Reyes (famed for her role as Candy, the leukemia patient and former girlfriend of Armando Solis in I Love Betty La Fea), Manuel Chua (“Supermanuel” to his Pinoy Fear Factor followers) and Janna Dominguez, Guji Lorenzana and Roxanne Guinoo, and John Prats and Denise Laurel plus a surprise pair to look forward to at the end of the series!

Blind corner: Singer’s bad karma

This singer’s former boyfriend has not paid the P1.4 million he borrowed from her when they were still together. The buzz is he and his parents invested the amount in a coffee shop and as down payment to buy a new car. The singer’s company earned a cool P1 million when she starred in a concert that flopped because she did not promote it enough. It looks like she is having bad karma.
