Last Monday, September 5, Auraeus Solitos Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros, the only digital entry in a field of 14, in the First Films Competition of the Montreal World Film Festival, won the Golden Zenith Award. It bested also Truth or Dare (Wahaheit Oder Pelicht), Germany of Jan Martin Scharf, Silver Zenith Award; and London (USA), by Hunter Richards with Jessica Neil and Leelee Sobieski, Bronze Zenith Award. Director Auraeus and producer Raymond Lee were at the award rites Monday night. Another great honor to indie films and producers. *** Regular televiewers of the innovative show on ABS-CBN, Pinoy Big Brother is now on its third week. Impatient viewers like me are looking forward to its first eviction. Two Saturdays had passed and no one gets kicked out of Kuyas house as we expected so this coming Saturday, actually their 3rd Saturday, we expect the first eviction. Who will that be. The candidates meaning: the most unpopular among their fellow housemates Franzen, Racquel and Rico. Now, its the texters turn to vote on their favorites. If the housemates voted last time on the ones they hate or dont like most for eviction, the texters this time vote on who will stay. Yes, all told, favoritism, bias, emotions like love or hate or indifference, abhorrence and partiality of viewers have something to do with Bahay ni Kuya survivors. *** Toni Gonzaga as the daily primetime host of Pinoy Big Brother has become a favorite to most, just as our friend Maritsu Henson points out. She enjoys being with her family most of the time her father Carlitos, mom Pinty and sister Catherine, 17. They enjoy doing things together whether going to church or shopping at the malls or to resorts. Gary Valenciano left the other day for Bangkok (Thailand) for a commitment tonight over there, as a special guest in the launch of a new Thai magazine. He will be singing with the Royal Thai Navy Orchestra for the launching of Prestige, at the Grand Ballroom of the Thai Oriental Hotel.
