Merry May celebrants

ABS-CBN feted the May birthday celebrants of Star Magic recently. They are Drei Felix (May 11) who is rumored to be having a more than friendly relationship with Jennylyn Mercado, which he denies, Valerie "Bangs" Garcia, a favorite covergirl of sexy magazines; Miles Ocampo (May 1), who was Sharon Cuneta’s daughter in "Best Friends Forever,") and tots Nikki Bagaporo (May 23) and Angel Sy (May 4). Five of them – Krista Sullivan (May 3), Chris Gutierrez (May 9), Guji Lorenzana (May 11), Mara Lopez (May 20) and Nico Antonio (May 24) – have famous relations. Krista is the niece of Robin Padilla. Chris is the son of movie queen Gloria Romero’s daughter, Maritess. Guji is the singer nephew of Joan Lorenzana. Mara is the daughter of Maria Isabel Lopez and Nico is the son of lawyer Joji Alonso.

Miles, 12, owes a lot to her very first hotdog commercial which paved the way for her to be part of Star Magic. She is a Guillermo Memorial Mendoza Foundation award winner. Her regular show is "Goin’ Bulilit." She was part of the movies "A Very Special Love" and its sequel, "You Changed My Life," playing Sarah’s sister.

Krista decided to have a quiet dinner with family and friends during her 18th birthday last May 3 because she was at work. She used to be known as Krista Valle but has decided to use her real name, Sullivan, instead. She is half-British and half-Filipino and plays Robin Padilla’s niece in "Totoy Bato." She is also part of the cast of ABC5’s "Loko Moko" Krista is the new face of a clothing line with Arron Vilalflor. She will next be seen in a show, "Medical City," which will be shown in Australia and produced by Dick Pengson.

Angel Sy, 9, is one of the most visible child stars of ABS-CBN. She played the young Melissa Ricks in "Kambal Sa Uma" and is a "Goin’ Bulilit" regular. She also be seen in the upcoming "Dahil May Isang Kaw" as young Karylle.

Chris Gutierrez, 17, is now included in Gigger Boys. Aside from being in "ASAP 09," he is also in "Boystown" every Sunday, where he plays Brent, a baddie. The 6’1" lanky guy plans to follow in his mom Maritess’ footsteps. He continues his school in La Salle Greenhills and is an incoming senior.

Drei Felix is part of Star Circle 7. He chose to use his nickname Drei after being tapped to be one of MYX’ regular VJ. Aside from his on cam stint, he is also doing radio shows for Jam 88.3. He is hosting an Adidas event wherein some of his co-Star Magic artists are also attending. He is part of the Donate Old Shoes campaign.

Guji Lorenzana was a commercial model before entering showbiz. Born and raised in the US, this Communications and Theater graduate of University of California did Globe, Clusivol, Hersheys, Jollibee and Fundador ads. Guji also accepts corporate shows as professional singer. His aunt, Joanne Lorenzana, was the one who influenced him to go back here in Manila to pursue his passion in performing whether singing or acting. He auditioned for "American Idol 3." When he came back here, he was signed up to be a part of Star Magic 16. After doing "West Side Story," he wants to make a full blast with his acting and singing career. He did TV 5’s "Midnight DJ" and "I Love Betty La Fea" followed by his new show in Kapamilya network. He is one of the boys of "Precious Hearts Presents: Bud Brothers." He is considered a big break so far since he is playing the leading man of Roxanne Guinoo. He is preparing for his first show with the Voizboys on August 8 at Metrobar. He hopes to push through with his plans of launching a new album this year.

Nikki Bagaporo is a Star Magic resident child actress who has been doing "Goin’ Bulilit." Apart from her comedy stint, she did dramatic roles for "Mga Angel na Walang Langit" where she won Most Popular Child Performer in Guillermo Memorial Mendoza Awards. Nikki is not only good in acting but also a crowd favorite in singing. She was seen in "Wowowee" and "Singing Bee."

Known as the half-sister of Shaina Magdayao in Kambal Sa Uma, Valerie "Bangs" Garcia, 22, is also in "Midnight DJ" on TV5 and indie movies "Marino" and "Rock en Roll." She is also in the magazine cover of Clavel, Speed and FHM. Apart from her regular shoots for TV and movies, Valerie is also doing corporate and out of town shows.

Star Magic is proud to have Nico Antonio in its fold. This active theater and movie actor also had TV appearances for a "Maalaala Mo Kaya," "Bora" and "Panday." He will soon be scene portraying a lawyer in the upcoming Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa starrer "Dahil May Isang Ikaw." Nico graduated Bachelor of Arts in European Studies and is now taking up Law inspired by his mom, Atty. Joji Antonio. He is part of Voizboys with Guji Lorenzana, Jay-R Siaboc and Ronnie Liang. He will be doing show with his all male group on August 8 at Metrobar.

Debutante Mara Lopez had the best time in Cannes Festival with her mom Maria Isabel Lopez. It’s her first time to attend such prestigious festival and it was memorable for her. This graduating student from De La Salle University was in the US the whole summer apart her trip with her mom in Cannes. She will soon be filming Junkshop with Ronnie Lazaro, directed by Ron Bryant.
