| | Mo Twister says Rufa's generous bf none other than Mikey Arroyo Author: Mario E. Bautista Column: Dream Factory Carla Abellana is being accused of stealing the hosting job previously assigned to Jolina Magdangal in "Starstruck." She's now the co-host of Dingdong Dantes and Raymond Gutierrez. "May nagsabi ngang sinulot ko raw," she sighs. "Ang sakit namang pakinggan. Is it my fault kung ako ang napili ng management? Siguro, sila ang dapat tanungin as to why they chose me, kasi ako mismo, nagulat that they got me. As for Jolina, I'll talk to her when Isee her to make sure hindi niya mamasamain ang pagkuha sa'kin. Gusto ko ngang humingi ng tips sa kanya about hosting kasi mas experienced naman talaga siya sa'kin."
Some folks say she has no "k" (karapatan) to host as she hasn't proven yet that she's capable of doing so. "Well, I can't blame them if that's what they think. But I've done hosting jobs in high school and in college. Nagho-host din naman ako sa 'SOP,' so I'm not totally new with this thing. Sana naman, they'll give me a chance. Basta I'm grateful to GMA for trusting me. It's an honor to be given this opportunity and I'm really excited about it."
And what can her co-hosts say about her joining them as hosts of "Starstruck 5"?
"We welcome her," say Dingdong and Raymond. "We're happy to have her with us."
One Jolina defender, though, wants to know: "What will happen to Jolens? Matatapos na yung 'Adik Sa'Yo' niya sa primetime. Hanggang sa morning na lang siya in 'Unang Hirit' and afternoon sa 'SOP' and 'Dear Friend.' Hindi na siya mapapanood sa gabi."
Going back to Carla, she's happy that the feedback about her acting in "Rosalinda" is generally favorable. "People told me they were touched by the scenes where I lost my mind at napasok ako sa mental hospital."

Now that "Tarot" is doing well at the tills on its second week, Mother Lily Monteverde is focusing on the forthcoming release of Regal's new project, the launching film of the very hot Aljur Abrenica-Kris Bernal love team. "I believe in their tandem," says Madera. "I've seen the film's rushes at may kilig factor talaga. I can see kaya na nila talaga magdala ng sarili nilang movie. I also take my hat off to the director, Maryo de los Reyes, who has really come up with a beautiful love story na may puso dahil tungkol din sa pamilya."
The movie used to be titled "I'll Be Waiting for You." But now, it has a new title, "Nandito Ako, Nagmamahal Sa'Yo." "Mas bagay ang Tagalog title," says Madera. "Pati sa story, mas bagay ang 'Nandito Ako, Nagmamahal Sa'Yo' kasi Aljur really shows to Kris na he'll always be there for her to love her. Also, these days, laging English ang title ng local movies. Mag-Tagalog naman tayo dahil Pinoy tayo, di ba?"
Mother Lily has successfully launched other love teams before like Maricel and William, Snooky and Albert, and Judy Ann and Wowie in their first movies together. She also gave the tandems of Nora and Tirso, Vilma and Christopher some of their best films together. "It's about time we launch a new young love team at sina Aljur at Kris na yun," she says. "I believe they're ripe for full stardom at ginastusan talaga namin ng anak kong si Roselle itong launching flick nila. Kinunan pa ito on location in Bohol. I also want to commend them kasi lahat ng pinagawa ni Direk Maryo, ginawa nila, like yung konting pagpapa-sexy na di nila magawa sa TV. They both look good in their revealing swimsuits."
"Siempre, we want our launching flick to succeed kaya everything ordered by our director, we did it for the movie," says Aljur. "Talagang ibinigay na namin ang lahat dito," says Kris. "Very engaging din ang story. I play a balikbayan from the US who came home to wed Baron Geisler. But before our wedding takes place, I meet Aljur by chance in Bohol and we fall in love. What we didn't know is magkapatid pala sa ama sina Baron at Aljur. Doon magsisimula ang matinding conflict ng movie." "Nandito Ako, Nagmamahal Sa'Yo" opens on September 30 nationwide, with a premiere night on September 27 at SM Megamall.

Just when they started to be amiable to each other again, expect Rufa Mae Quinto to be sore once more at her "Showbiz Central" co-host DJ Mo. Rufa Mae didn't talk to Mo for several weeks after he brought up her alleged sex video with Hayden Kho in the show. Now that she has talked about a mysterious lover whose identity she refuses to reveal but who she admits is a "kabalen" like her, Mo wrote on his Twitter account that he's betting that her generous boyfriend whogave her a $30 million house and lot in San Francisco is no one else but presidential son Mikey Arroyo, who's also a "kabalen."
It'll be recalled that Rufa Mae was earlier linked to the first gentleman. Mo even stressed: "Mark my word, Rufa Mae is engaged to Mikey Arroyo. Who wants to bet I'm wrong?" As everyone knows, Mikey is very much married with two daughters.
"Ayoko na lang siyang patulan," says Rufa Mae. "I just forgave him recently for what he has done to me before as I'm in a positive mood at ayoko na ng negative thoughts, tapos binastos na naman niya ako. I don't know kung ano ang ginawa ko sa kanyang masama for him to do this to me."

Jhops Cruz of GMA-7 invited us to visit the set of "Rosalinda" to introduce to us the newest addition in the cast who'll play the pivotal role of Alex Durantes, the record producer who'd transform Rosalinda into Paloma, a popular singer. He's none other than Jomari Yllana.
"People think Rosalinda died in the mental hospital fire but the truth is she survived, suffering from temporary insanity," says Jom. "Once, I see her while playing in a public fountain, pero bigla siyang nawala. She then falls into the hands of a syndicate and becomes an akyat bahay gang member. I get to shoot her when they rob my house and I recognize her as the beautiful woman who attracted me in the fountain. Pinagamot ko siya, and when I learned she sings well, pinadinamitan ko, pinaayusan ang buhok and make up niya and launched her as a recording star. She becomes a big star because of my help." So how's Carla Abellana as a co-star?
"Maganda siya. Bilib ako sa kanya kasi magaling magsalita, which is not surprising kasi college graduate na siya when she joined showbiz." Does he see himself falling for her charms?
"Naku, bagets pa yan. Thirty-three na ako, she's only 23. Mas bagay na bagay talaga sila ni Geoff Eigenmann. When I watch them sa 'Rosalinda,' iba ang energy ng love team nila."
Jom is really busy these days. He's also in "Celebrity Duets" and in the movie "Yaya and Angelina, The Spoiled Brat."
"Nangangarag na nga ako with tapings in 'Rosalinda' tapos preparing for my weekly number pa in 'Celebrity Duets.' Mahirap mag-isip ng new song and concept each week, tapos aaralin mo pa ang kanta at magre-rehearse pa kayo. Si Julia Clarete ang last ka-duet ko. Next Saturday, it'll be Radha and we'll sing 'I Got a Feeling'."
Of his exes, he has only asked Aiko Melendez so far to sing with him. "Magkasama kasi kami sa 'Spoiled Brat,' but she said she's not sure and it'll depend on her schedule. Si Ara (Mina), umoo na raw siya sa ibang contestant while Pops (Fernandez), pinasabi nang ayaw niya."

"Survivor" Kiko Rustia, host of GMA's "Born to be Wild," was feted to a surprise birthday party recently at the rooftop of AIC Gold Towers where his condo is located. His parents Marie and Tito, plus siblings Bobby, Rizza, Rachell and Rika organized it with the help of his handler from GMA Artist Center who told him they have a scheduled interview for him on the roofdeck. When they got there, the lights were turned on and all his guests sang happy birthday for him. He got quite emotional. All his castaway batchmates in "Survivor" were there to greet him and they even held a dance contest for him called "Dance Like Kiko." GMA Artist Center handled the balloons and flower arrangements. Kiko's special guest are Alessandra de Rossi, who's being linked to him, and his fan who's afflicted with cerebral palsy, Raphael Lapid.

How does it feel to be instant millionaires after winning P1 million cash each in "Are You the Next Big Star?" "I feel so grateful to the Lord, to those who voted for me and to GMA," says Frencheska Farr. "I'm definitely going to give it to my parents for the completion of our house na nabitin ang construction due to lack of funds."
"I'll buy a car kasi I just commute now," says Geoff Taylor. "I'm also thankful we also won a condo unit each kasi as of now, nakikitira lang kami ng mama ko sa manager ko."
As part of their contract with GMA Artist Center, they are now making a tour of SM Malls. Those who want to see them perform live with the other finalists, Alex Castro and Zyrene Parsad, should go their free show at SM Naga on September 12, SM Bicutan on September 13, SM Baguio on September 19, SM Valenzuela on September 20, SM Baliuag on September 26, SM Dasmarinas on September 27 and SM Iloilo on October 15.

We finally got to see "And I Love You So" and, as we expected, it's the usual romantic fluff from the Star Cinema Factory of mushy love stories. It follows their now very familiar formula of boy meets girl, gets girl, loses girl, then there's an epilogue as it concludes where they meet again and are reunited for the obligatory happy ending, just like in "Kailangan Kita," "Don't Give Up On Us," "When Love Begins," "One More Chance," "My Big Love," "Very Special Love," "You Changed My Life," etc. etc. It even has the trademark Cathy Molina final scene where the leads chase each other in the middle of a busy street then they kiss and make up for the final fadeout. The film could have been titled "And I Told You So."
It also has the usual pa-cute elements. Instead of the sun dance, what we have here is the Magic 8 Ball that the leads consult for answers since they can't make decisions for themselves. The only difference is that it's not really directed by Cathy but by Lauren Dyogi. Another difference is that the heroine is a widow, Lara (Bea Alonzo), whose husband of five months, Oliver (Derek Ramsay), dies while they're celebrating her birthday. Still grieving after seven months, she rents outtheir condo unit to a DJ, Chris (Sam Milby), who's separated from his two-timing wife (Maricar Reyes - "yan pala yung nasa video," people say around us when she appears). As may be expected, Lara and Chris fall for each other but Lara is not ready to plunge into a relationship so they part ways. Two years later, they see each other again in the street and, that's it, you get your happily-ever-after kind of ending.
The film's biggest drawback is it doesn't really offer anything that new, except perhaps for Bea sporting a bikini. But honestly, Bea doesn't have that earthy kind of X factor that would make her a seductive temptress. She's quite good in her drama scenes, but the most effective player for us here is Sam, who shines effortlessly in a couple of scenes, like when he tells Bea: "Our whole relationship was based on a lie." Or when he gave up saying: "I'm sotired. Lagi na lang akong talo." The hurt he feels is so palpable, so persuasive that he doesn't seem like he's acting at all. Given the chance, we think he'd be as good an actor as Piolo or John Lloyd. As for Derek, sorry but he really can't do anything much with his now you see him, now you don't type of role here. You can't even understand if he's a ghost or just a figment of Bea's imagination.
