| Mother Lily retiringAuthor: Bong De Leon MOTHER Lily Monteverde is officially passing on the responsibility (and power) over Regal Entertainment to her daughter, Roselle Monteverde-Teo. Madera is retiring from showbusiness. She will concentrate on her real estate business. She may have (officially) passed on the hat to Roselle, but if we know her better, Mother will still be around. She loves showbiz very much, and it's her life. Roselle is a good producer, but Mother's showbiz acumen is incomparable. DINGDONG TO PLAY VILLAR? HEARD that Regal Entertainment is interested in adapting former Senate president Manny Villar's biography into film. Many believe that Dingdong Dantes would fit in the role, and Senator Villar, during the Christmas party he held for the entertainment press, said he is open to suggestions. Although he is not focused on this at the moment, it could be an effective propaganda as he is not denying about his interest to become Philippine President. Remember that the late strongman, President Ferdinand Marcos had his life (at least, the good parts) filmed which led him to being elected again. While it is not fair to compare Sen. Villar's life to late Pres. Marcos', his (Villar's) life would be a good film material, even without adding or deleting parts of it. LAST DANCE WE watched SOP the other Sunday and we never thought it would be Marky Cielo's last dance on TV. Last night, we still saw him in some scenes on "La Lola" with Lovi Poe and it gave us some goose bumps. It's really shocking. We were not close to the young actor but we certainly feel he's a big loss to the industry. He was being groomed as the new Dindo Fernando (an actor who was not as good looking as his contemporaries, but whose acting talent had always been outstanding). It was just too bad he has joined Dindo in the Great Beyond, when he had yet to prove himself. PAOLO BACK TO COMEDY Paolo Contis has proven his versatility. He can easily switch from action, to drama to comedy. No surprise he has been a favorite guest on GMA7's "Bubble Gang. " On Friday night, he pits comedic talent with the cast of the number one gag show, headed by Michael V and Ogie Alcasid, and another guest comedian, Bearwin Meily. Watch for new sketches and TV commercial spoofs acted out by Rufa Mae Quinto, Diana Zubiri, Francine Prieto and Maureen Larrazabal who provide the sexiness while doing wholesome comedy with the rest of the cast, Boy2 Quizon, Wendell Ramos, Antonio Aquitania, among others.
