It was from him that we learned that Kims "Matanglawin," aired Sundays on ABS-CBN, is celebrating its first anniversary this March. To mark its first year, "Matanglawin" looks back on some of its most memorable and most intense episodes, allowing the audience to know how the shows dynamic production team comes up with features for the much-awarded educational program. It is just coincidence, according to Secretary Atienza, that Kims "Matanglawin" has something to do with the environment, which is exactly what DENR is all about. "For the rest of the year, we will give more dedication and seriousness in our effort to protect the environment against environmental violators whom we will pursue guided by our environment laws," said Secretary Atienza. "I am confident that the year 2009 will make a big difference. Aside from the fact that we now have 42 environmental laws that give us more teeth in our fight against environment violators, the judiciary is also taking a more active role in protecting nature and the countrys environment." *** In its twelve months of being on air, "Matanglawin" has bagged eight prestigious citations from awards-giving bodies, such as the Golden Dove Awards, PMPC Star Awards, Anak TV Seal, Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union, among others. The show is also launching its books version this month. Its first 10 volumes will be available at National Bookstore and Powerbooks. Elementary and high school students are encouraged to watch the info-adventure program "Matanglawin," which is highly recommended by the Department of Education. "Matanglawin" is currently conducting the Matanglawin School Tours where they give away application forms to students who want to join the recently launched Matanglawin Club. *** Eight-month pregnant Mylene Dizon recently left for Chicago to give birth to her second baby. "Sa Chicago rin ni Mylene ipinanganak ang kanyang panganay na si Tomas Miguel (now three years old)," said June Rufino, Mylenes talent manager. "Nandun kasi ang kanyang mama and siblings." For the entire 2009, it will be family for Mylene, June continued. Like her first son, Mylene will wait for her second son to turn one year-old before she comes home to the Philippines. How about Paolo Paraiso? Will he be joining Mylene for the birth of their second son? "I think so naman," June answered. "When Tomas Miguel was born, he made sure that he was at Mylenes bedside. "Bagamat he and Mylene are just together for their children, maganda ang kanilang relasyon. They have no obligation to each other, except as parents to their kids." Mylene had her last scene in the series, "Tayong Dalawa," last Monday. Her character dies after giving birth to her second baby. "Tayong Dalawa" also has in the cast Helen Gamboa, Agot Isidro, Cherry Pie Picache, Gina Pareno and young stars Kim Chiu, Gerard Anderson and Jake Cuenca. Source: Malaya |
