| New on QAuthor: Malaya Q Channel 11 makes TV history as it pays tribute to world-class Filipino chefs in "Secrets of the Masters," which premiered last Sunday, February 15. For the first time on Philippine television, Q will gather the countrys top chefs and most in-demand restaurateurs, each with his own unique technique and style of celebrating Filipino food that will definitely wow viewers. Every Sunday, host Issa Litton presents one culinary master whose kitchen secrets will be unveiled. The first master on the list was Chef Gene Gonzales, one of the most formidable pillars of the Philippine culinary scene. Chef Gene Gonzales is the only TOYM (Ten Outstanding Young Men) awardee in the field of culinary arts. He honed his skills through a series of apprenticeships in France and Italy. He also completed various specialized courses in food arts at the Culinary Institute of America and the California Culinary Academy. He founded his own coffee shop and restaurant, Café Ysabel, which to this day is very successful. He also authored several books such as "Pinoy Classic Cuisines" and "Cocina Sulipena," among others. Chef Gene shared some of his favorite and most extraordinary recipes. He made his own ice cream "Dark Chocolate and Tomato Ice Cream with Banana Cake" right in front of the studio audience. He followed that with "Silk Road Salad" (mangoes, salmon, cashew nuts, apples, sausages, and greens). The main dish was "Wild Duck Al Caparas," followed by "Crispy Pork Belly with Chocolate Demiglace." And for the finale, its "Menudo Sulipena" or "Oxtail Stew." Another new on Q is Kat Alano, who joins Maggie Wilson in "Fit & Fab." Kat is no stranger to TV viewers. This Anglo-Filipino beauty her moms English and her dad Filipino has been modeling, acting, and hosting her way to fame since 2005; she first broke into the scene as one of Bayos image models and went on to host a number of popular TV shows and become an MTV VJ. Undeniably, Kat is one of the most sought-after female hosts in the country. And now, she co-hosts "Fit & Fab," Q Channel 11s "ultimate guide to being a better you" with former beauty queen Maggie, who says "being fit and fab is all about being healthy. Its about having a healthy outlook in life, as much as having a healthy body." Maggie is a fellow Filipino-British stunner who is also an actress, MTV VJ, and model. "Fit & Fab" airs every Wednesday, 10:15 p.m. on Q Channel 11. Source: Malaya |
