THE original Queen of Philippine movies, Susan Roces, shared her blessings again during the presscon and preview of the new TV adaptation of "Maligno," the original movie of which made her win best actress in the 1997 FAMAS. It is the new offering from ABS-CBN under the Susan Roces Cinema Collections. She raffled off P8,000, P6,000 and P1,000 to three lucky press people.

Meanwhile, the 25-minute preview earned its director, Wenn V. Deramas, praises from the press people. It was so shocking they believe ABS-CBN has a new potential toprater. Maligno stars Claudine Barretto, Diether Ocampo, Rafael Rosell (as Satan) Kim Chiu as a TV reporter, Gerald Anderson as the photographer, among others. Of course, Susan has a special participation in the new series.

Since this is Claudine's major comeback, she did everything to earn the admiration of her co-stars, director and the other people she has worked with. And she did not fail her fans by coming up with a real good performance.

MARIAN WILL TRY TO BE THE BEST DYESEBEL

MARIAN Rivera must give more effort to her next TV project, Dyesebel. The new series requires more body exposure, and she should see to it that she is fit and sexy, the way viewers visualize what a mermaid should be. (Well, it's a myth but the numerous times that mermaids have been depicted on screen and other medium, they have a beautiful face, long hair, a curvaceous body and a fish tail. )

Aside from that, it offers an enchanting story. Marian's leading man, Dingdong Dantes, plays a young businessman who gets stranded in an island and meets and falls in love with the comely mermaid.

Before, we considered the Dyesebel version directed by Manong Gerry de Leon and starred Edna Luna, the best. But Marian promises to be the best Dyesebel. In fact, she trained hard for it, and now, she swims like a fish and has mastered underwater acting.
