Nora’s US show cancelled

Column: Check It Out

HEARD that Nora Aunor’s show scheduled at the Grand Theater in LA has been cancelled. Later on, we learned that the producer is moving it to a later date, January next year.

Whatever happened to the show is beyond us, but could it be an indication that Ate Guy, despite what she had gone through, has not recovered from the superstar syndrome that has served as a setback for her through the years that she has been living in the US?

It cannot be denied that she still has surviving fans who adore her, but they are not enough to keep her title and enjoy it.

Maybe, Ate Guy should open her eyes to the truth that the era she had enjoyed is gone, but she still has herself and her talent to keep her going through the years.

INTRODUCING Lloyd Zaragoza

HIS face is quite familiar on television and billboards these days. He is Bruno, John Lloyd Cruz’s friend in the Greenwich Pizza commercial. He is Roman Salcedo, the neigHBOrhood’s vicious high school dropout who makes Betty miserable in the top-rating teleserye Betty La Fea on ABS-CBN.

Lloyd Zaragoza is now making a name for himself and shying away from the shadow of his famous older sister, Jessa Zaragoza. “I watched my sister’s shows before and I was overwhelmed by the respect she received from audiences. I told myself that I also wanted to become a star someday,” Lloyd said.

Just like his sister, Lloyd is also a talented singer. He was the vocalist of four local bands including Art N’ Soul where he met his good friend Joshua Desiderio of Freestyle who became a big influence in his singing career. “He encouraged me to never give up. ” In 2000, Lloyd launched his self-titled album under Star Records. He also recorded songs like “Ikaw Na Ang Bahala” which was released internationally and was dedicated to all OFWs and “Emmanuel” for the World Youth Day celebration.

After his singing stint in Hong Kong, Lloyd was immediately informed by his agent to try out in a Greenwich Pizza VTR. “They were looking for a man who had tattoos for the role of Bruno. Luckily, the casting crew thought I was the perfect choice because of my tattoos. ” He has appeared in two Greenwich commercials and on their giant billboards. Lloyd disclosed that he has previously worked with John Lloyd in Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay and Tabing Ilog. Now, they are working together in Betty La Fea.

Lloyd said he is a man of extremes. “I don’t drink and smoke. I work out four times a week. I watch carefully what I eat. And I love tattoos. ” Indeed, people usually notice his intricately designed tattoos whenever they see him. Does he regret having tattoos because of the bad boy image people attach to it? “No, napakinabangan ko nga siya for my Greenwich commercials. I got the part of Bruno because of my tattoos. They are my good luck charm,” he enthused.

Aside from Greenwich, Lloyd has also appeared in Ragnarok, Jack & Jill Fun Snacks, Potato Crunch, McDonalds, Pop Cola, and Juicy Fruit Gum commercials.

Lloyd, a Star Circle Batch 9 member, did an indie movie titled “Kasal” opposite Valerie Concepcion. “I hope to star in a movie na parang Prison Break ang istorya. I want to portray a role na may tattoos pero may soft side. Ganoon kasi ako in real life. I have tattoos pero I have no vices. ”

He looks forward to an exciting showbiz career. “I made some bad decisions in my career when I was younger. Looking back, I lacked the passion important for my work because I did not put my heart into it. I believe everything that happened in my life had a reason. I learned a lot from my mistakes. It really pays to wait patiently for the right time.

"I am blessed to be given another chance in showbiz. Hindi ko na pakakawalan ito. Ngayon, I will accept kung anong i-offer sa akin na projects. Minsan lang dumating ang mga ganitong magagandang opportunities. ”
