Paolo, Mylene’s arrangement

HIS not-so-young singer who everybody thought is unlikely to get pregnant before marriage because of her demure and conservative image need not worry that her boyfriend, a basketball player, will abandon her.

He is so in love with her that he’ll only be too willing to marry her.

The wedding, if indeed they decide to tie the knot, is actually long overdue. They have been together for a couple of years. It’s she who’s dilly-dallying.

Now that their first bundle of joy is coming, he has more than enough reasons to pressure her into marriage.

Her name is Carla Abellana. And she has the showbiz blood in her veins. Her parents are actor Rey "PJ" Abellana and Rhea Reyes, who also tried showbiz but quit immediately after falling in love with PJ.

Rhea’s mom is Delia Razon, who, in her time, was a very popular actress.

Twenty-year-old Carla, who is very pretty, had been asked by talent scouts to try showbiz as early as when she was 16.

But she turned the offers down as she was determined to finish with her studies.

She graduated cum laude a year ago, with a degree in Psychology from De La Salle University.

For a while, she worked with a human resource firm. Then came the offer from Arnold Vegafria, now her manager.

Last Monday, January 26, Mother Lily and her daughter, Roselle Monteverde-Teo, signed her to a 12-picture contract.

Carla hopes that for her first movie she’ll have either Richard Gutierrez or Piolo Pascual for her leading man.

Carla revealed that both her grandmother and her mother, who is estranged from Carla’s father, felt most excited with her decision to give showbiz a try.

Why weren’t they with her during the contract signing?

"Probably they know that with my talent manager around, they have nothing to worry about. Besides, at my age, I can take care of myself well," she answered.

She said she will do any role assigned to her.

Although willing to do kissing scenes, exposing skin is a no-no. And she will have to think about donning a bathing suit or a two-piece bikini.

She admits she’s currently going steady with basketball player J.C. Intal, a graduate of Ateneo University.

How did he react to her decision to join showbiz?

"Well, he’s very supportive and happy for me," Carla replied.

Paolo Paraiso was with Mylene Dizon during her baby shower party, organized by Rufa Mae Quinto.

Rufa Mae is the lead actress and producer of the movie, "Status: Single," which has Mylene playing her friend. In real life, they are best friends.

Mylene will deliver her second baby in April.

It is her second baby with Paolo. Their eldest, Tomas Miguel, is three years old.

Although Mylene and Paolo are not married and have no plans of making their union permanent (he has a girlfriend, he admits), they are happy when they are together.

They promise to be doting parents to their children.

"As long as I have my children, I have nothing to ask for," said Mylene. "I’m just to excited to become a mother again."

Mylene is also in "Tayong Dalawa" on ABS-CBN, playing the role of Kim Chiu’s mom.
