| | Pieta premieres today on ABS-CBN's Hapontastic Author: Napoleon Quintos One son's fight is one mother's grief. This afternoon, watch the beginning of a story about the most unconditional love of all. Pieta is the newest teleserye that will fill your weekday Hapontastic block with all the exciting elements you can find in Primetime Bida. The story is an adaptation of a Carlo J. Caparas komiks classic which he also made into a successful movie starring two icons Ace Vergel and Charito Solis in 1983. Pieta features a powerhouse cast top-billed by Ryan Agoncillo in his most challenging role to date. Ryan plays the character of Rigor, a man raised in a slum neigHBOrhood where crime and violence rule the streets. In this teleserye, Ryan sheds his 'good boy' image he has been known for and becomes a dirty and rough character. After an unfortunate incident that takes his mother away from him, Rigor will set off to on a journey alone in a discriminating and unjust society. Years after, his mother will return only to find him lost amidst gang wars and organized crime. Can love turn Rigor to the right direction? At the helm of this teleserye are acclaimed directors Toto Natividad and Don Cuaresma. The two are all praises for Ryan in his on-screen transformation for Pieta. Direk Don, who handled Ryan in Ysabella, said that the actor holds much promise in the drama scene. Direk Toto, a seasoned action director, was very proud to welcome Ryan as the 'newest action star' to watch out for in the industry. Even creator Direk Carlo placed his faith on Ryan as the perfect choice to play the role portrayed before by action giant Ace Vergel. Also in the cast are multi-awarded actress Cherie Gil, John Regala, Jestoni Alarcon, Krista Ranillo, Jason Abalos, Janus Del Prado, John James Uy, Lyka Ugarte, Neil Ryan Sese, Jairus Aquino, with the special guest appearances of Baron Geisler, Joross Gamboa, Paul Salas, Ynez Veneracion, and Alessandra de Rossi.
