ACTOR Piolo Pascual believed that it is time for comedienne Eugene Domingo to have a launching movie.

Thus he will be producing the movie that will formally launch the career of the super-comical comedienne-TV host through the film dubbed "KimmyDora (Kambal sa Kyeme)."

"I'm blessed, I'm privileged to be working with her (Eugene) in her launching movie," Piolo said.

The hunk actor shared that "KimmyDora," which tells the story of twins Kimmy and Dora, was penned by Eugene's best friend Chris Martinez, who is also the brain behind acclaimed indie film "100."

Piolo clarified that this film he and his other friends in showbiz will be producing for Eugene is not a digital film. "It is commercial. Mainstream. Malaki rin ang nagastos namin dito. Magkakaibigan kami sa industriya ang nag-produce nito."

Under the direction of Joyce Bernal, "KimmyDora" boasts star-studded cast, which include Dingdong Dantes, Paolo Contis, Miriam Quiambao, Baron Geisler and Mark Bautista, among others.

"Direk Joyce is one of our closest friends. She is one of the producers actually. She is so passionate with her craft. I am so excited, I really have fun doing this film. Nakakatuwa po talaga si Eugene," Piolo beamed adding that they are almost done shooting for the film.

For a time, there have been reports that Eugene was supposedly to be launched in a movie entitled "Demetria" to be directed by Wenn Deramas under Star Cinema. This, however, until now has yet materialized.

But Piolo said there is no age as to when an artist should be launched and it not late yet to launch Eugene's career as a comic icon.

"I believe that Eugene is a good actress and she deserves to finally have her own spotlight," he said.

"KimmyDora" is expected to be shown in the later part of this year. 'Manila'

"KimmyDora" is actually the second movie Piolo has made.

Last year, the highly-acclaimed actor had produced a digital film "Manila" starring Rosanna Roces, Angelika Panganiban, William Martinez, Jay Manalo, and Alessandra de Rossi.

This July, Piolo said the local moviegoers will have a chance to watch the movie as it will be shown in theaters here.

He added that he is so happy that his first produced film turned out to be productive as it has been invited for a special screening and exhibition in eight film festivals around the globe excluding the recently-concluded Cannes Film Festival.

"I am so thankful that the first production became so productive... The moment I got in Cannes that itself a recognition. That itself is a victory. Yung kung kikita is just secondary. It's a big blessing na mapasama sa Cannes. And then we were invited to Moscow and seven other festivals," he said.

Piolo confessed that it hard to produce a film even digital or mainstream. But he said hard work is all worthy as he keeps learning new things related to entertainment media.

"I don't think of the hard work. I am just happy with my work. I admit it is hard to produce film but it is exciting and because in this kind of job, you really want to grow," he said.

Asked if he will also be entering directing soon, "Honestly, hindi ko pa nakikita ang sarili ko na mag-direk masyado lang ako na masaya bilang actor. Ngayon na na-try ko na mag-produce gusto ko muna na i-enjoy. Directing wise I don't know."
