Piolo's risky business

Author: Bibsy Carballo
Column: Meanderings

WHEN critic Lito Zulueta anointed Eugene Domingo as the country's funniest comic ingénue, there was no way we would not watch "Kimmy Dora (Kambal sa Kyeme)" and I must say she truly blew our mind. The movie is the story of twins Kimmy and Dora, both played by Eugene , with opposite characteristics. Where Kimmy is intelligent, driven and vicious, Dora is slow, but loving and kind. And if that responsibility of playing two characters were not enough, Eugene also gets to do action, slapstick, wear figure hugging clothes and bathing suit, and have the hunks Dingdong Dantes and Zanjoe Marudo as romantic possibilities.

From the reaction on the floor, marked by consistent and insistent laughter, it is obvious that everyone was having a riotous time. We hope that all the obvious loving work that went into this production would translate into more and more opportunities in the future for everyone on the team, most especially Eugene, and particularly Piolo Pascual who stuck to his guns in the new path he has chosen to pursue as producer of exciting but risky projects.
