Just when you thought your mobile slash music phone couldn’t get any better, Samsung comes up with new models sure to add more kick, and dare we say, “oomph” to your listening pleasure.

Welcome the Samsung I450, f250, and the f330 models. Sounds too geeky for your taste? Good, because only geeks can make this phone look good and cool. The phones are lightweight, sleek and pack a chockful of features that audiophiles will surely find more than worth their while.

Jerry Lacson, Samsung general manager for marketing, says Samsung has been meaning to connect with the youth market for the longest time. Although, Samsung previously created music phones, the models did not quite reach the market they were intended for. These new phones, Lacson hopes, will bring Samsung closer to the young and the hip.

“What we’ve noticed is that the younger generation is passionate about music,” says Lacson, “They are able to express themselves through music. As such, we’ve equipped the new Samsung phones with superior music phone technology to provide them a more enhanced listening experience. Also, one of the reasons we are launching these phones is that we are trying to expand the market from high-end users to the broader masses.”

Samsung has partnered with Danish company, Bang & Olufsen, a world-renowned manufacturer of high-performance loud speakers, to improve not only the design but the sound quality of the new phones.

For example, the Samsung 1450 showcases metallic stereo pop-up speakers using Bang & Olufsen Icepower A/S. It also boasts the first-of-its-kind touch-sensitive half-wheel for navigating the menu of the mobile. The music player allows playing of multi-codec music files. Connecting via the 3.5mm Direct Music jack makes it so much easier to store music files in its expandable microSD memory. One can enjoy speeds as fast as 3.6Mbps with HSDPA and the extra large 2.4-inch TFT screen of the phone.

Make like a DJ and trendsetter with the Samsung f250 which looks good as it sounds. Its design seamlessly fuses phone and music functions including music dedicated keys located at the front and side of the mobile phone for easy access. The glossy mirror-like surface, water drop buttons and brushed metal keypad all add cachet to this music mobile phone. With WMDRM, music can be easily transferred back and forth between mobile and PC. Music files are automatically filed into proper music library folders when transferred to the mobile. It boasts FM radio with RDS which informs users about the radio station, show, song, and artists in one glance. Users can carry all their favorites from songs to photos to movies with its 20MB memory and external microSD.

While, the Samsung f330 offers a slim way for trendy users to experience complete music and phone functionality on their mobile. The slim slider’s menu keypad offers a combination of touch and tactile keys for navigation and music dedicated hotkeys in the front and side of the mobile. The two tone color scheme offers distinct looks: icy white for music and white and blue for calling. The embedded music player supports multi-codecs for playback of all music files. It is equipped with FM Radio with RDS and MTP/WMDRM/Music Recognition which enriches the user’s overall music experience. Let the music keep on playing with Background Music Play. Its 24MB internal memory and up to 4GB external memory allows you to store up to 500 songs or over 12,000 images.

Music generation

Recently, Samsung launched the “Samsung Live Loud” marketing campaign with Parokya ni Edgar, otherwise known as “Pambansang Banda ng Bayan,” as the campaign ambassador.

Samsung kicked off the campaign through a one-of-a-kind fashion show, presenting the latest phones from Samsung, as well as a concert featuring Parokya ni Edgar, Brownman Revival and SoutHBOrder at Eastwood, recently. Hosting the event were Lucky Manzano and Andi Manzano.

As expected, Parokya ni Edgar amused and entertained concertgoers and fans with their quirky songs, crazy antics and dry humor. Fans were screaming their heads off while taking pictures of and stealing kisses from the “Pambansang Banda ng Bayan.”

“We at Samsung believe that music is the universal language,” says Charles Choi, Samsung vice president for mobile phone, “Music is a vital form of self-expression that speaks of the passion and intensity of every generation. Your generation has taken music to greater heights and we at Samsung will continue to support every form of artistic expression.”
