Pokwang on joining Banana Split: 'Hindi ko naman po sinulot, ibinigay sa akin ng kusa' Author: Napoleon Quintos Funny girl Pokwang is just one of the stars set to join the new season of Banana Split beginning April 18. But Pokie's new role sparked a controversy involving her and Banana Split original mainstay Valerie Concepcion. Pokwang is supposedly a replacement for Valerie who was pulled out from the show by her manager because of a talent fee dispute. However, Pokwang told Showbiz News Ngayon that she just accepted the job offered to her by the management. As co-hosts of the top-rating Wowowee, there have been rumors that Pokwang and Valerie are not on good terms. Although the two have said time and again that there is no conflict going on within the Wowowee family, the speculation now is that the recent reshuffling of the Banana Split cast has caused a rift between Pokwang and Valerie. But Pokwang denied such rumors in an interview with SNN. Pokwang spoke exclusively with ABS-CBN.com during her first shooting day for Banana Split last April 4 where she stressed that she is only abiding by what the management has decided on. Joining Pokwang as latest addition to Banana Split are stand up comedian Pooh and the Parekoy gang of John Prats, Jayson Gainza, and Zanjoe Marudo. Pokwang told ABS-CBN.com that she is very excited to be working once again with the three guys with whom she had previously worked with on Aalog Alog. She further shared what viewers may expect as she reunites with Pooh whom she last worked with in the successful Poohkwang show series. Pokwang said that she can't complain with all the work that ABS-CBN is giving her. But when asked if she is ready to rival the beautiful and sexy babes Angelica Panganiban, Cristine Reyes, RR Enriquez, and Princess Ryan, Pokwang said that she would rather stay in the comedy ring. Catch the new gang of Banana Split beginning this April 18.
