Rachelle moves on after Christian

Author: Remy Umerez
Column: A Little Bit

SINGING champ Rachelle Ann Go opened her live album bar tour at Hard Rock Cafe with John Waite's I Ain't Missing You at All recently. With pop rock cuts featured in her new album aptly titled Rachelle Ann Rocks under Viva Records, she triumphs with the new transition in her singing career. Her voice is in top shape matching an outfit which would have made her a lot sexier if a little skin were exposed. "Masyado siyang balot na balot sa kanyang kasuotan," a male from the audience commented. Nevertheless, we welcome the change.

At one point, Rachelle told the audience how she has moved on after breaking up with someone she loves (who else but Christian Bautista?). Indeed she has, as she belted out songs that can be associated with her past love experiences like I Can't Let You Go, Can't Fight This Feeling and When You Love Someone. Her interpretations were full of hope that a new love would come her way, even without looking for one.

Meanwhile, catch Rachelle with another bar tour at Circle Cafe on May 21, Eastwood Central Plaza on May 24 and on May 30 at Bagaberde, Pasig.

Meanwhile, the platinum-bound album which has 13 popular songs will also be released on DVD. Chosen to be the first single release is Honesty by Harem Scarem. All songs were arranged by Nino Regalado who is also the musical director.

AI AI, ROBIN HAVE CHEMISTRY SAVE FOR THE MUSICAL NUMBERS

THERE is no doubt that Ai Ai delas Alas is the most successful comedienne local entertainment has ever produced. Once again, she displays her natural ability to make people laugh (and cry, too) in her new movie with Robin Padilla, Ikaw Pa Rin, Bonga Ka Boy. Like Rico J. Puno, Ai Ai is the female total entertainer.

Robin Padilla on the other hand hammed it up as he played a fireman with a heart of gold. He sang more than once in the movie conceptualized by Mel del Rosario. Well, it is okay with us but judging from the reaction of the moviegoers ay mukhang hindi nila feel. The male moviegoers in particular expect action stunts from Robin. Also, the songs they picked for the movie were as old as Nora Aunor's era. Can anyone still identify with Eloy's when ukay ukay has taken over? We wonder if bongga is still being used today.

Katawan is an eye catching number and the badings will fall for it because of men in their underwear paraded back and forth.

As for Riza Santos who is introduced in the movie, we wonder why she was not seen in her sexiest, perhaps similar to her sexy poses for FHM.

But in fairness, there is chemistry between Ai Ai and Robin but let go of those musical numbers next time.

FACE TO FACE OF TWO DAVIDS ON 'AI'

This week is the finale for American Idol and as expected it will be a head to head fight between the two Davids. Earlier on Good Morning America, the father of David Archuleta is being referred to as an "overbearing stage father" and was not allowed (as in banned) backstage.

On the local front, we have many overbearing stage mothers. An actor who appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show was rooting for rocker David Cook but believes that 17-year-old David Archuleta has that block of voters coming from the teen crowd which also explains his huge popularity plus a voice that is truly soothing to the ears.

It will be an exciting finale on May 22 for Archuleta and Cook who both enjoy the support of their respective fans and homefolks. Whom will America favor?

Incidentally, did you know that it was David Cook's brother Andrew who was planning to audition for American Idol but some twist of fate, it was David who made it? He was working as a bartender then.
